  1. Agree completely. They said that choices would matter and that they would matter during this arc. Neither was true. This has been even more disappointing than Rise of the Hutt Cartel where, as recent as 3 months before release, they were promising a whole slew of things they didn't deliver on. Unfortunately, BioWare has come full circle to being full-blown liars again. I remember when Jade Empire came out and it was a hit and they promised to all this great stuff with it and they never did thing one. They completely effed up the ending to Mass Effect after years of developmental storytelling. They've hardly kept any promises about SWtOR and the ones they have kept have been done in the most lackluster way possible. Ironic that this is the only forum they're keeping open. BW's been dropping the ball for the last few years; do they think that moving things to FaceBook will stop anyone from ************? FB will make it worse.
  2. It's not just that the choices are largely irrelevant it's that the story is weak. KotFE doesn't compare to the worst of Mass Effect or Dragon Age (or hell, even Jade Empire). That makes a lie out of the promise to bring back old BW style storytelling. The lack of meaningful choices (there are certainly choices but they aren't relevant) takes away from being invested in the game or your character; especially as these were strengths of the vanilla game. That's makes a lie out of the promise of "Choices Matter!" (they don't). The ending is flat, pointless, and brings about no real resolution - it just sort of stops. I don't know how anyone got tension out of any of this. At the beginning, maybe (when expectations were high) and no one knew quite where things were going to go (nowhere, as it turns out). But once things went to monthly releases it started tanking hard. I'm sorry, but I see nothing from KotFE that makes me even remotely optimistic about the "new story". Considering that the core of the story is almost certainly written by this point I don't see how anyone could expect anything other than more of "bleh". "Don't worry, we'll do better next time" means nothing.
  3. Team up with Mandrake the Magician, the Phantom, and Lothar? Oh, wait, they fought Ming too. Nevermind.
  4. I found KotFE to be disappointing as a whole. A "C" at best. You're choices don't really matter, both the story and it's conclusion are weak, and there's little to no relevance to your prior story and companions. As a continuation of your old character, it's a massive failure. As it's own story, it's still mediocre at best. I just don't see anything in 16 that changes that.
  5. Apologies for the necro but dropping the Tactical didn't work for me. Or, more accurately, it doesn't let me drop the Tactical; the abandon button is grayed out if I highlight the Tactical mission. If I abandon the other, then they both go away.
  6. So I'm not really doing anything wrong but since I started romancing her later than I might have it's taking longer to complete, correct? And the lack of Flirting is just how her story goes at this point in time?
  7. I'll admit that I've never romanced Vette before. From Day 1 I was always annoyed that, when playing a male toon, 3 of the 4 starting dark side companions are romance-able yet 2 of them are (essentially light-side) as is the later Assassin/Sorcerer option. As a result, I always romanced Jaesa if my toon was male. This is the first time I've played a Sith Warrior since 4.0 and I'm not sure what's gone wrong. Originally, I wasn't going to romance Vette this time either. I shocked her up until the point where you can't progress with her story anymore and suddenly decided to do a switch and romance her instead. So, I took the collar off and everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly (I got the missions from her that I expected to get). But there hasn't been a "Flirt" available for the last 2½ worlds (or so). The last "Flirt" dialogue I had with her was when she showed surprise that I, as a powerful Sith, picked her and she asks "Seriously?" and the Flirt response is: "Seriously." Since then I've found and rescued her sister and am looking for her mother. I also recovered the Twilek artifact though I don't recall exactly when that took place. She approves of all of that but I'm now starting Chapter 4 which seems awfully late to still not be romancing her. I can't help but feel that I've missed something but I can't figure out what. The pre-4.0 romance guides I've looked at seem to indicate I should be farther along than I am. Thoughts?
  8. You're right. But looking at the way both EA and Disney do business, I don't see either one as playing nice with the other. Again, this all depends on what the licensing deal allows EA to do and for how long. Cost is irrelevant. I just don't see Disney allowing another company to maintain a competing product.
  9. ^^Agreed. However, companies will normally post when they're having an issue; weekend or not and will also post when an issue is resolved. Someone is always checking on them remotely. When a company stops doing that, it's a signal that the game doesn't mean as much to them anymore. While that doesn't mean they're about to pull the plug on the game it'd not a good sign either. Nor is the fact that the main decision maker came up through the EA Sports ranks. There's a lot of renewed interest in Star Wars right now but this game was modeled after the old Knights of the Old Republic crpgs that I played on an Xbox well over 10 years ago. That isn't necessarily the Star Wars people are interested in now; especially since Disney has de-canonized virtually everything but the movies, two cartoon shows (Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels), and their own comics. I don't know what kind of licensing agreement EA has but I wouldn't be surprised if the game is pulled within the next few years so that Disney can go with the company, and cover the time periods, they want to go with.
  10. It either won't let me login or I can login but it doesn't see any servers. The Server Status page shows all American servers as Up.
  11. So the issue is essentially dead then; it's never going to happen? I mean, if they didn't put it in with new content it's hard for me to imagine them going back and inserting it in to 50 levels of old content covering numerous characters, companions, and story arcs. Is there something I've missed?
  12. I'm sorry; I'm very late to this discussion and kept getting directed to threads which had been closed due to post count. I did not even remotely have the time to peruse the gargantuan number of posts on this topic. Can someone please give me a quick update on the status of this feature? I haven't seen it in-game so I'm assuming that "by the end of 2012" didn't happen. What's the status? Thanks.
  13. When WoW first launched I couldn't even go into one of the capitals without major lag. This game has had the smoothest launch I've ever seen since LotR. If these things are still exactly the same a year from now, i'll be worried. Two weeks after public release? Not so much.
  14. I agree that if you're going to have a hard cap on something like Affection, something should actually happen when you hit it. It's anti-climactic as is and misleads new players into thinking it means something it doesn't.
