  1. If you truly believe it is your RAM, have you considered monitoring HOW much RAM is being used when you are playing SWTOR vs when you are playing other games? I really have not paid much attention to how much it uses, but that could shed some light... Just because one game runs fine, does not mean your system is completely stable.
  2. I look forward to seeing that post! I really have a trouble coming to the forums because the negative and useless comments really get under my skin, and I'm sure some of them are intentionally put there for that very purpose. As many have said tho, there are some sections of these forums that are actually decent and helpful.
  3. Can you post your actual laptop specs? Most laptops aren't designed for gaming and I'd expect overheating to be an issue. Even my Asus G72-X "gaming" laptop is barely able to play SWTOR. The game is still having issues on some higher-end systems. I couldn't imagine trying to play on a laptop with integrated graphics
  4. The OP is asking for people's opinions on which game is better. You should call every single person who picks one over the other biased, because thats what they are. BIASED. I'm biased, and my opinion is relevant: To the OP, If you like Star Wars at all, give SWTOR a shot. Me, my friends and my guild are LOVING this game. I'm not saying things are perfect, because they're not. We've ran into bugs and issues just like everyone else. If you go off the deep end and spazz out over bugs like some of the people on these forums, I say wait a while before you think about playing. I saw a few people here who seemed to have legitimate concerns over the game, like the guy who has had account issues and spoken to multiple CS reps.. I'm sorry to hear that and I hope EA/Bioware gets the CS shaped up. It is definitely sub-par. It's not just SWTOR though. I about blew a bloodvessel talking to EA support for BF3.. I spoke to 4 different reps in a row that all gave me bogus answers and "conveniently" disconnected from my chats.
  5. ^ This. IIRC, Master Windu states he believes Obi Wan to be the best duelist in the galaxy due to his mastering of Soresu. I also love how the books (Dark Lord Trilogy) depict Obi Wan. The movies make him seem to be "lucky" and not a great Jedi. However, the books describe how Obi Wan uses the force to guide himself through the fights. In the books he is quite the Jedi, but he does run into some precarious situations. I'd argue that in those situations, he makes it out due to his patience and reliance on the Force.
  6. I agree with Yomat. I would not go without those talents mentioned, especially if my focus is PVE tanking. One of your jobs as a tank is to prevent as much incoming damage as possible. I'll assume we're talking about PVE for now, since PVP has way too many variables to really say. One of the drawbacks of having a hybrid spec is you lose some things, like the talents Yomat pointed out that are pretty important survivability wise on longer fights. I'm not saying hybrid specs are bad, but if you are having issues then it is time to reconsider and try a different spec.
  7. Well, the stats look ok. Though I will say I have around 2% more defense, and 1-2% more shield/absorb. (guesstimating as I dont have my character sheet handy.) The first thing is, are you using Ion Gas Cylinder? I'm guessing you are if your damage reduction is at 48, but I had to ask.
  8. I did not see this thread until after I made my post. We encountered bugs last night with Gharj not resetting after a wipe. Even though I watched him "reset" after the wipe, upon releasing and trying to get back into the instance we had the "encounter in progress" message on two seperate attempts. I verified that everyone was out of the instance as well.
  9. Has anyone else had trouble with Gharj not resetting? Our first attempt on Gharj was a 10% wipe. Everyone released and we encountered the first of the 2 bugs. We were unable to enter the isntance due to the message that the "encounter was still in progress" even though I watched the boss reset before I released. So we cleared trash and made another attempt and wiped at 10%. On this trip back we took the speeder to the boss and a majority of us died on the speeders. The next attempt we got him down to 4%. Upon trying to enter again this time we were hit with the "Encounter still in progress" message. We waited for 10 minutes and the message was still present. We decided to call it quits for the night after that. Has anyone else encountered this on that boss? Is there any other way around it outside of using the reset option?
  10. Affection opens up that companions story line/quests. It also will decrease the time it takes to complete crew skill missions. (The Crew skill mission will list the default time, not how long it takes yoru companion to do it based on their affection.)
  11. Correct. IIRC, it creates a SWTOR folder and saves the images under your User folder in Win 7
  12. That's not entirely true. The Commando and Reflex armoring (and other Mods) can play the balance between Threat and Endurance Advanced Commando Armoring 25 http://www.torhead.com/item/a34hSps 51 Aim 55 Endurance Advanced Reflex Armoring 25 http://www.torhead.com/item/2k3yxhO 61 Aim 44 Endurance
