  1. The triangle icon is an unintentional "bug". As you said yourself. A triangle makes no sense at all and devs already stated that it was not part of the update. Should be fixed in an upcoming patch.
  2. If it's : Take up and defend a position in open world pvp to enter an instanced PvE area and defeat a boss for great rewards. I say bring it on! If it's : Mobs and bosses randomly pop in an open pvp area. It's just going to be a gank fest with the faction that as the highest population taking all the benefits. Wasn't that the problem of Ilum in the first place? 80+ Imps against 10 or so reps? If that's the case, no thanks. I tasted enough of that crap. I am intrigued by the reputation system however. What perks does it actualy give aside from cheesy titles?
  3. Yes and no. You should listen to fans, but not say yes to everything either. Listen to them, because they are the ones you need to please. But in the end, you know what best for their needs, so don't just say yes to everything.
  4. F2P is not a sign of failure. Some games start F2P from day 1 and perform very well/ LoL, Dust to name a few. What makes F2P a sign a failure to the eyes of some, is when a game studio chooses to go for a subscription Fee and ends up switching to F2P after barely a year. A company that starts with 10 employes is no failure. A company that starts with a 1700 employes and is force to reduce it to 300 is considered a failure. Because it shows that thing didn't work as planned, despite the fact that the second company is still bigger than the 10 man one.
  5. Hummm yeah... Ok if a game goes F2P it usually means that they need more players. It's doesn't mean a game is dying. Starwars fans would have kept a kicking community here. Since many lost their home in SWG, TOR is now their new place. SW is still a big *** franchise (The biggest in the world actually). It's unlikely that the game is actually dying. It did loose a lot of players, but thus is now F2P. By no means is this a sign that the game is dying. MMo's don't need a million+ players to stay alive. Some have been around with just a 100 000 players.
  6. LoL, DUST.... Many exemples of how you can make a high profit game, and still allow customer to play for free with no limitations other than the looks and customisation of your hero. Monthly fee will die and be replace by virtual coins and stores. In 5 years from now me says.
  7. Very true. If you take Kotor and ME for exemple. Sure you have side quest there and there. But 80% is the actuall story quest. It's epic, and you are fully involved. In TOR. "QUICKLY, YOU MUST SAVE MASTER KIWIKS BEFORE SHE DIES", But before you actually get to that very important mission. "Please, those bandits took my toy droids, help me recover them".... Right.... Kinda pulls you of the main storyline.
  8. Ok... Sorry.. But this is just a stupid, non-sense escuse. Wow Is almost 8 years old! 8 years! Guildwars 2 has regular events, and plenty of content. On day 1! Stop making excuses already, i am a fan of SWTOR like the next guy, but saying things like "hey WoW didn't had these at launch" is just a crap excuse made by a blinded fan boy. If you are going to compare WoW 2004 and TOR, sure TOR wins on the content level. Big deal! It's like the new duke nuken... Live in the past, too old fashion. But hey... It has Iron sight! So it's better Now? Right? If TOR as it is now was made in 2007... Ok serious stuff there. But we are not in 2007! It's 2012... The content offered here is just embaressing. Why do you think they lost so many subs? Why do you think this game is going F2P, less then a YEAR after it's release? Goodbye 2004, welcome to 2012! Aside, from the story line quests, companions crafting and space combat... This game lives in the past. Am i ok with it? yes, definitly. Will SWTOR catch up? No it wont. The backbone of this game is too old fashioned. GW2 did something fresh. Dust is doing something fresh. Blizz's new MMo will be something new, you can be sure of that! But you know what ? TOR won't die easily! Because of it's only asset : It's STARWARS! Take starwars away, and this game would be dead by now. Not F2P... DEAD!
  9. It won't obviously. We'll have to wait for bioware to see the numbers dropping before they realise. And by the time they do, the arm will already be done. Same as the server merging which was done WAY to late. The only good thing this F2P does is give potential Kotor fan who are against paying a monthly fee to try the "Kotor 3" side of the game. The story quests. Past that, F2P is pointless. A nice update for subs. Cartell is very nice and should help put this game back on track. I feel sorry for non-subs however, who surely are disappointed.
  10. There is simply no way this F2P will bring back old players. Let alone attract new ones. This is good if you want to play the story mode. Past that point... Restrictions are too heavy to enjoy it. I am a sub and still loyal to this game. But, would i be one of those who left the game, i would most definitly not come back with those restrictions even for free. Limited med droid : Fine Limited playable races : Yes Limited content access : ok Warzones limited to 3 times a week. Limited flashpoint : I am out.
  11. Not a problem. That's why they have the cartel. This can very well be the new source of income. Trust me, in 5 years from now... All online games will follow that model. Subscription fees are a thing of the past that will disappear in time. Take DUST for exemple. This is a game CCP has been working on for YEARS. It's ambitious! It has all the qualities of a AAA MMOFPS... And .... It's free... From day 1! How do they make their money back? The store. The cartel in SWTOR is VERY well done (already spent 25$ in it), and can easly become their main source of income if they keep it alive and updated. My point is... yes F2P subs should be limited. But they shouldn't be "punished" for not being a sub member either.
  12. You are correct... But define "enjoyable"? Remember, the storyline quest, is just a way to get to the level cap... Where the real stuff is. How exactly is the game enjoyable with such limited access to FP, OPs and WZs? Are they suppose to do dailies? For what? For stuff they can't even wear? What exactly is there to enjoy? I understand that it should be limited, but not that limited. Let's be honest, SWTOR has VERY basic end game content. It comes down to : Are you a PvP player? or Do you enjoy PvE? Have you seen the limits for that very little content the game has? Would you bother leveling a toon just to found out that you can enjoy it just once a week? I am sorry but while there should be limitation, this is a very dum way to make them. Rather to limit access to flashpoints or warzones, do like LOL. ROTATIONS. Each week, F2P players can do as many FP's and WZ's as they want but only one WZ map and say 3 FP dungeons. The week after, the accessible Maps and dungeons rotates. Limitation and yet players can still enjoy the game. The limitation as it is now is retared. BW is basicly telling them, now pay the sub fee or leave.
  13. Monthly subsription are an overused, old fashion, destined to disappear model. Just look at DUST and LoL. Forget subsription fees. Make a store with goodies to buy. Customers see what they are paying for, and you make money. It's a win-win.
  14. Restriction should be there. They just need to be softer. A correct balance needs to be set. Give enough to keep F2P players in. Don't give to much to motivate a monthly subsription. Right now, restriction are just WAY over the top. It should be balanced that's all. As you said, less restriction + more cartel = Happy customers, more money for BW
