  1. This. There are so many times when people think they are heroes for topping the numbers the chart, when they actually contributed to the loss of the team. This actually happens a lot in Voidstar. And then they have the nerve to yell at the guy who is just standing in stealth right by the door, because he knows that the other team also has stealth and take advantage of his own teams "herp-derp, top deeps makes me good!" stupidity by just sneaking past the morons and planting a bomb or taking taking away a pylon or turret in AH or NC or CW. And surely everyone with a clue should already know what happens when you do that in Huttball...idiots just out killing each other, not even trying to advance the ball at all, lose sight of enemy ballcarrier and let him just keep scoring till you lose. Basically every warzone, if you dps just for the sake of it, you will lose. DPS can help you, but it can also be your biggest downfall.
  2. I see a lot of hate for stealthers, unfortunately. It's really absurd that some people still think stealth classes shouldn't even exist. As someone who's main used to be a sniper, I got killed by stealth all the time, but I never said "damn, that ability shouldn't exist because it puts me at a disadvantage!" I understood that that it is part of their class just like cover was part of mine. Then I started playing them myself. I began to understand that they are not OP by any means, and that an assassin without stealth is nothing, and would be as easy for me to kill as a marauder. The people that OP described aren't "terrible". I mean there are bad players who play stealth class, just like there are bad players who play every single class. But "never having top damage" as a stealth is really because stealth wasn't designed to be top damage. You can still get pretty good damage, but a lot of good stealth don't get the most dps, because stealth allows them choose, their fights more carefully. As for the reason why they run, it is because if they see they are outnumbered, they will exit the fight. Having cloak always them to do that. A lot of times when you see a stealth waiting by a pylon or turret, he/she is just waiting for the most advantageous moment to take it. For example, if he is trying to take a pylon in AH, where there is one visible guard, and he sees two orb carriers coming, then he must wait to make his move. That is really what stealth is about. Waiting to make your move and striking an opponent when you are at an advantageous position. Most of all, stealth are really the players who play objectives the most (at least the ones who know what they're doing). They don't jump into main fights if they don't have to. The only really bad stealth are the ones who don't play objectives, or the ones who just camp at the enemy goal line in Huttball. And to the people who think they are elite and always "carrying warzones", (because the Force forbid that they could actually be part of the problem, yet their egotistical bubble is too big to ever understand this). It is so ironic slamming stealth as trying to be "heroes" when they themselves think they are the ones who win warzones, and slam their teammates the second things don't go their way. I just want to say that I am sure there are a lot of wins you owe to a stealther. Whether it be a Huttball win by an assassin who didn't care about getting dps and just solely played objectives, or the one that caps the pylon in an AH match that looked to be a certain loss, or the two stealth working together in Civil War that turn the entire tide of the game and then hold on to win it, or the ones that end a healer-fest stalemate effectively, if you have played PVP extensively in this game, chances are a lot of times stealth ARE the game-changers and heroes. I am not talking about myself, I am talking about stealthers in general, because it's become quite disturbing how much people are whining about them on this forum.
  3. Really? That is good to hear that it has become quite balanced at max level 8 vs 8. This server used to be notorious for being Republic-dominated in PVP. It went back to the old Canderous Ordo server. It was so bad that I decided to only play Republic on this , as PVP for Empire side was quite masochistic. However, in the past six months, a lot of those max-geared good Republic players left. Some transferred to other servers, others just quit the game altogether. Along with them went their guilds and their premades. It sounds like now the Empire is doing quite well and things are a lot more balanced. This encourages me to transfer my three Imperial characters so that all my characters can finally be together on one server.
  4. Actually they have better survivability now than they have ever had before. I notice this whenever I play my merc healer. Unless I have two or more people actually trying to kill me then I'm not dying. Which is really how a healer is supposed to be. As for the dps mercs, I think the issue there is cast times on a lot of their abilities. I do see a lot of good ones though getting a lot of damage, but I guess that is because they were rarely getting targeted by enemies during the match.
  5. I hope this isn't true. What does give me a sliver of hope for assassins though, is that our knockdown has always been different than operatives'. Operatives' KD is skill points specific to one certain skill tree. Perhaps this is how BW can get away with taking it away. (That said, condolences to operatives, because 2.7 will pretty much kill them off) Spike is an actual trainable ability that all assassins get when they reach a certain level, regardless of what their spec is. Hopefully it will be too big a change for devs to make as it is an actual trainable ability, so they will leave it alone.
  6. Lol, does this really fool anyone? I have actually seen quite a few commandos/mercs dressed like they're agents or smugglers, but I think they just like the look and aren't really trying to fool anyone, because if they are it sure isn't working. If I see you with that big assault cannon or looks like you're casting medical casts (which look so obvious on commandos), then you are getting marked right away, and my assassin isn't going to leave you alone, so better hope you have a good tank guarding you.
  7. I will usually always try to disarm, unless by the time I'm released from the spawn area, I look at the counter and see that the door will blow in less than 7 or 8 seconds, in which case there will really not be enough time to run to the door and then disarm (which takes 3 seconds). But other than that, I will always attempt it. Of course it always easier if it's only one or two enemies at the door, but I have disarmed bombs with the entire enemy team there. It just takes them not paying attention.
  8. I have a question as I seem to be one of the few players who haven't heard about this yet. I saw the other recent thread about, but I'm still confused. Where exactly do you get this gear? Which vendor do I go to purchase the mods and does this mean I won't need to be buying Conqueror gear?
  9. Exactly, it just goes to show their incompetence. All it really comes down to is people massively complaining about an ability. There is no real thought behind the nerfing, no real concern for gameplay, no true intent to make it better for everyone and more balanced. It's all just BW catering to a mass of imbeciles. This has happened time and again with so many patches, and 2.7 will just be the latest one. I don't have much hope left for this game, I just really hope they don't do to assassins the same thing they've done to operatives. It seems to be a war on stealth though, because forums are often flooded with people complaining just having stealth is OP, which is absolutely ridiculous. Yet another example of people not understanding game mechanics and how a class is supposed to work. An assassin or operative without stealth is like a sniper without cover. Different classes have different abilities that are designed to work with that class and be played that way, but I digress. The main issue here is that I'm really sick of all the needless nerfs to classes in response to bad players who don't understand game mechanics crying about it to spineless devs.
  10. This. Unfortunately, this always happens with this game. When the forums are overflooded with crying about certain abilities, devs respond with nerf. I really hope they don't do the same thing with assassins.
  11. I don't play a juggernaut, I play assassin, and assassins can't do that, or else we become useless at playing our spec.
  12. There is no such thing as "stance dancing". First switching stances costs 100% force. It is definitely not something that can be done in the middle of a fight. A dps assassin would be a complete idiot to run dark charge, as the very skills he/she relies on would be lost. If you understand game mechanics, you will understand that each stance is meant to be used with a specific tree.
  13. This says it perfectly. Just because a class is capable of playing a healer or tank spec because they have a healing or tanking tree, it doesn't mean that they have an advantage over a class that only has dps trees and therefore those two classes (marauders and snipers) should get god-modes and therefore be better at dps than anyone else. For example, I have no advantages of a tank with my deception assassin. I have no shield, and no dark charge, my gear is not tank gear, my light armor is only buffed to 30%, meaning it is still light armor. I cannot take damage for someone else and cannot mitigate damage done to myself. I cannot use dark charge, because then I would be stupid and my entire role would be pointless, as dps is designed around the procs from my deception skills and being in surging charge stance. The only thing I can do is taunt, and that helps the team, but aside from giving me a few extra medals (which has nothing to do with the point really) like a tank would get, there is no advantage of actually being a tank. I am dps specced, and my job is to dps. Therefore I am pure dps, just like a marauder or sniper in that role. Same thing with my pyro pt. Just because a class can choose to spec a non-dps spec, doesn't mean they can't be pure dps, hence there would be no point in those classes even having dps trees. The argument that "because they only have option of dps therefore they need crazy defensive abiltiies like god-mode" is invalid and absurd. Just because your class has the option of playing something other than dps, it doesn't mean you should be expected to choose it or pay a price if you don't.
  14. The rare double crit maul is when an assassin gets really lucky. It's true that in order to kill your opponent with a deception assassin you have to know exactly what abilities to pull off and pull them off at the exact right time. If you do this, you can kill any opponent except for a good tank or another deception assassin. The fun of playing the class is that it does indeed take finesse and excellent timing, and it is much more a single target type class, although an extremely skilled assassin can go up against two opponents at times and still have a winning chance.
  15. I understand that they need roots and knockbacks because it is part of the game mechanics of the class, just like an assassin needs stealth and knockdowns/mezzes, a merc needs something like electronet and hydraulic overrides, a sorc needs that bubble or they will die in 5 seconds, etc. You take those core abilities from these classes, and they become completely useless and unplayable, (kind of like operatives are going to be after the next patch). I actually play a sniper and gunslinger. I also play an assassin, and the only time snipers or gunslingers give me any trouble there is when they either extremely good or they are getting helped by a teammate, be it a healer, a tank guarding them, or another dps taking some of the pressure off them. So I am not just someone who is mad to get beaten by a few snipers in some random warzones. What I am trying to say is that they already have a long CC-immunity, and a good one should know how to keep a melee from being in their face all the time, they DO NOT need a god-mode, period. This is my main issue here, is that next patch will give them this, and it will make them OP, they do not need it yet people still ironically massively complain about warriors and operatives which can be shut down so easily, and don't bat an eyelash about snipers getting a god-mode. That is what is wrong here.
