  1. I really enjoyed both KotOR games a lot. Ofcourse the first was more Star Wars-y in all it's (typically Bioware) epicness, with clear lines between good and evil. The second was less 'epic'. But the story was more dark and gritty as well, and probably because of that, less 'Star Wars' (which in my opinion isn't necessarily a bad thing). It's much less light vs dark, and indeed has a lot of 'in between', or grays. To me it was more immersive. What I personally really liked about KotOR II was that it seemed it was more about 'you' (the Jedi Exile). I really got the feeling I got closer to being the Exile, than to being Revan. The game really evolved around the Exile, instead of the overarching plot. However the endgame was quite a bit underwelming, but everybody knows that already, so I won't go there. But that's just my sort of opinion. I don't hate Obsidian, they made one of the best games ever, when they (or most of them) were still called Black Isle Studios (No I'm not talking about either Fallout or Icewind Dale). I personally enjoyed Neverwinter Nights 2 more than the first one (not counting the expansions), althought the act 3 defend your keep portion was a bit meh... But I agree that Obsidian's games tend to be quite buggy, and have some gameplay issues. I never could get myself to continue playing Alpha Protocol, even though it obviously has very strong points. And I'm not really looking forward to that Southpark game, even though I like Southpark.
  2. Speaking of storytelling: How come a lot of people speak so highly of Rockstar in respect to storylines? I mean as far as I know only two of their games supposedly have a good storyline: Red Dead Redemption (didn't play, don't have no console), and GTA IV (tried to play, but stopped to bother after a few tries because of very crappy performance on my rig). The few Rockstar games I did play, namely GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, which I had plenty of fun with, but never found the story anything special. I still need to continue playing Max Payne 3 any time soon, but I heard some very mixed opinions about that one. And I don't know if the Manhunt games and Bully have such compelling storylines.
  3. I don't know; except for Eve Online for some reason, games evolving around space combat, whether it's an RTS or a Space shooter like Freespace/Wing Commander unfortunately never seem to gain a lot of popularity nowadays. Maybe it's because there are a lot more gamers than 15 years ago, and the majority can't be bothered with such elements. I'm really curious about the HD versions of Homeworld 1 and 2 (and hopefully Cataclysm as well), and hope they'll improve the user interface to current standards at least. But I believe, as interesting as those games are, relatively very few people will get excited about it. There's also this game called "Nexus: The Jupiter Incident", where you command one or a few ships, with customizable hardpoints and all. Also great storytelling (fully voiced by the way), but I've yet to see one person who actually played it.
  4. I'm surprised how few people here have actually 'heard' of Homeworld, even those that were around (as PC-gamer) in the late nineties. I can understand not many people played it, but to not even have heard of it... it feels a bit strange, since there were plenty of copies in the shops over here, including the sequels. But then again I might have never heard of some titles back then other people would find impossable to grasp. Which may be true for console-exclusives. Speaking of Homeworld, and it's storyline: I thought it was quite a remarkable game (at the time), and it's storyline was indeed quite interesting to say the least. To say SWTOR's should be replaced by Homeworld's way of storytelling goes a bit far, but it fitted the Homeworld series quite fine. I really loved the handdrawn between-mission-cutscenes by the way (which Relic even used in the Company of Heroes game). The mission backdrops were quite stunning too. Personally I think the stand-alone expansion called Homeworld: Cataclysm (of which probably even less people heard about) was better than the original, in many ways. I believe that should Homeworld have been released at this present time, it probably would have got more spoken dialogue. In my opinion Planescape: Torment blows (the first) Baldur's Gate completely out of the water in regards to storytelling. However nobody apparently has ever heard of Planescape: Torment either, which is such a terrible shame. It's also too late for that now, since a LOT of reading was required to follow the story and to understand what the hell you're supposed to be doing (so a TL;DR alert for that one ).
  5. Sometimes it doesn't work properly. Relogging might solve it.
  6. Still waiting for the Darth Nihilus robes... or at least similar all-black ones with cape (The Diabolist's are of a lighter shade than the cloth enveloping Nihilus' Mask.
  7. No, you received the Star Forager or Dreadseed title (and possibility to dig up the corresponding armor) depending on YOUR choice, wether you won the alignment role or not.
  8. This. Just to admit: I didn't loathe digging up the pieces most of the time (it was for a good cause), but as TheNahash mentions, it costs a LOT of time. Time, if it's actually true you get an entire set at the end of the Heroic, I could have wasted on more 'important' things in hindsight, like grinding dailies, or the same old four level 55 Flashpoints. Or levelling another toon from a class I didn't got to level 55 yet.
  9. EDIT So is it confirmed yet that the 'storage case' contains the entire set of either Dreadseed or Star Forager armor? If so, then I agree with the OP about the faceslap...
  10. There may be some way forcing better AA on nVidia cards through some third party applications like Inspector or something. I'm personally on AMD, and am able to force SuperSampling Anti-Aliasing through the Vision Control Center, and the game looks WAY better than with the relatively low quality in-game AA (FXAA?). The problem is that the game doesn't have great multiGPU-optimizations (I'm on a Radeon 6990), so having it enabled can cause some framedrops with heavy activity on screen. However it's fine while levelling, and also for most Flashpoints.
  11. More (long) hairstyles, more shades of haircolor. Maybe haircolors with high- or lowlights or how you call them, what was popular among the female population not that long ago? Or maybe just a more complex appearance designer just to be better able to finetune your looks... Yes I'm quite vain about my female toons...
