  1. To make a long story short, I pre-ordered this game and was a big fan of it for ages, but I grew disenchanted with the changes made around 4.0 (in particular, the oversimplification of heroics and some of the combat reworks), and ended up unsubbing about a year and a half ago, after hardly playing at all since 4.0. Now I've decided to give SWTOR another chance in what little free time I have, but I have some questions. 1. The latest story content I've completed is Shadow of Revan. When I start Knights of the Fallen Empire, what exactly becomes inaccessible? Will I still be able to complete planetary sidequests and bonus series after I start on KotFE? What about KotET? Does it gate any old content? 2. I'm basically running around in level 60-65 gear for the most part. What's the gear progression scheme like? Should I be stocking up on Command Pack gear before jumping into hardmode (Master Mode?) flashpoints at 70? What item ratings should I have to be considered appropriately geared for that content? Thanks guys. I'll see you in groupfinder! (which reminds me, I probably have, like, 200 pages of "the weird people you meet in groupfinder" to go back and read...)
  2. Did nobody else notice the necro of literally three years?
  3. Old armor back from the leveling comms vendors, customizable KotFE companions, story mode flashpoints instead of tacticals, and better survivability for Commandos. I swear I've been good, SantaWare; I've even kept my sub going the whole time!
  4. Shhh, it's streamlining your leveling experience. You see, if there's less stuff in the game, there's less stuff to worry about. If they'd left any companions with cool unique abiltiies, it would make it hard to keep track of them all.
  5. nerf companions in 4.0.2 fix the bug making companions useless as tanks in 4.0.3 cute
  6. I like your thinking, OP. But maybe make an exception for mail sent to one's own characters or one's guildies, in case someone needs to transfer a bunch of items to another toon, or needs to send stuff out to the guild.
  7. I know that feel, bro. I played this game for over three years on a laptop that was a so-so machine in 2009 when I got it. I could muster 20 FPS on minimum settings most of the time, but in crowded or very pretty environments I'd only get 15, and I'd be lucky to hit 10 in 16m ops. I was healing (and apparently healing well somehow) at 5-10 FPS eventually, when my tired machine really bogged down. And then I finally spent $1200 on a seriously good machine that I hope will last me a decade, and now I get 60 FPS on max settings. It actually took me a little while to adjust to being able to react quickly...and I certainly thank my time spent in framerate hell for my ability to think ahead in endgame stuff.
  8. Don't you have to be older than friggin' TWELVE YEARS OLD to have an account here? I'm 23 and what is this
  9. EV only without the Soa platforms bug. That's more casual.
  10. Um...just so you know, if you run into the teleporters (the pads with all the circles above them) you'll get teleported up to the core, so long as you don't have the Marked debuff (target symbol) on you. Marked goes out when adds spawn and goes away when they're killed, basically just so you can't ignore the adds.
  11. Oddly enough, at launch Assault Plastique DID replace Sticky Grenade, as they shared a cooldown. But then BioWare realized that people might want to do an AoE pulse without screwing up their damage rotation (say for delayed cap-stopping or for controlling a group of standards) and separated their cooldowns in 1.4.0 (Terror From Beyond).
  12. It does about the same amount of base damage as Mortar Volley (slightly higher, if Dulfy's numbers are accurate!) if you take the Chain Gunnery talent. The basis for saying that it does more damage is that the extra crit and surge granted by the passives in Gunnery boost its overall damage even higher. Don't get me wrong; I still give priority to Mortar Volley because it's slightly cheaper and knocks down weaker enemies, but Hail of Bolts is still very useful in AoE situations. One or two channels of it is enough to melt a whole gang of standards in most cases. Don't go whining about being HoB being allegedly useless and then tell ME I don't know what I'm talking about.
  13. I can't even count how many of those adds I had to solo while healing it in HM. All their faces just keep haunting my dreams...they're dead, and I killed them! And THEY'RE the monsters? But no, seriously, I'd given up on expecting PUG DPS to kill adds well before 4.0 hit. Every now and again I find one who peels.
  14. Um, unless it was stealth-nerfed in 4.0, it hits pretty darned hard (more damage than Mortar Volley if you take the Chain Gunnery utility). Also, it's a way to instantly proc Curtain of Fire or Ionic Accelerator. It gets plenty of use if I've got more than two targets. Might be a case of PEBKAC, just saying.
  15. The supercrates are stupid. if my math is correct, they end up being the same price per pack; absolutely no reason for them at this rate. Hypercrates at least give you a slightly better deal and also drop a platinum pack. And on that note, the new packs are a rip-off. It used to be for somewhere between 210 and 250 cartel coins, you'd get two rare items, a consumable boost item, some Jawa scrap, a companion gift, and either a reputation item or a cartel certificate. Now, for 200 cartel coins, you get...one rare item and a companion gift. Maybe if the new packs were literally half the price they'd be a good value, but right now I'm just sitting on my coins until the old packs come back around. And hey, what's the deal with taking all the direct-purchase stuff off the market? It's absolutely unbelievable how much content was removed in 4.0, from leveling gear to endgame missions even to cash shop items. These changes to the Cartel Market have nothing to do with player satisfaction and everything to do with EAWare trying to squeeze more money out of its subscribers' wallets. As someone who has loyally subscribed since Early Access, I really do resent that. I'm giving it another few weeks to see if you all want to fix anything, but as it stands, I'm very likely to unsub. I believe that as a result of the gawdawful changes made in 4.0, this game is going the way of the Orange Pixel.
