  1. So after the run of Tanks lately, I didn't have high hopes when I loaded into a HM Athiss on my Merc!Healer and find the Assassin!Tank is sitting on just shy of 21K >< Tank apologises when asked about his gear and said his guild said he'd be alright, but the other DPS and I agree to see how we go. The DPS, a Marauder and a Sorc, are both sitting on around 35K, and I'm not a fan of Merc!Healing, so I was expecting a few wipes then an agreement to leave. I was so wrong. The Tank (and he was new, just over 1K of achievement points) kept aggro, used cooldowns, knew his rotation, and basically made the run one of the smoothest I've had in a long while. Aside from a near scare with a pack of dogs on the Daddy!Dog fight, another scare with the fire during the final boss due to the poor Tank being distracted, and a guard placed on me, the run was fine. He even listened to the explanation about why I, as a healer, didn't want guard, and thanked me for explaining it! I try not to set my bar of a good Tank too high, but after seeing and being spoiled by that guy... damn.
  2. Two days, two GroupFinder HM FP runs where the group ended up having two Tanks >< Since healer queue times have been pretty good on my server, I dusted off my Merc!Healer and got a pop into HM Mando Raiders. Zone in and notice the rest of the group is sitting on an average of 28K, but the Jugg marked as Tank is a little higher and seems alright. I then notice the second Jugg is also in Tank stance, and after the first pull decides to leap in (into the first pull on the ramp with the gold!droid) while the actual Tank grabs the wandering gold!droid. Now I'm an Operative healer, so Merc healing is always a little strange to me, but the next few pulls were a pain. After a wipe thanks to some poorly timed taunting by fake!Tank I and the real!Tank ask him to get out of Tank stance. He does but then comments that "well two Tanks make it easier... lol". Yeah... myself and real!Tank basically ask what he's been smoking. Move onto the first boss, with the two dogs, and the DPS is so low that the real!Tank kills the Mando first, so both (yes, both were still alive) dogs enrage and we wipe. Real!Tank and I remind the other two were to stand to avoid knockbacks, and to not run about like headless chickens. Second go the other DPS (a poor little sniper) stays in cover and doesn't run from the dogs, and that along with some DPS from me sees the Dogs die with the boss having a huge 4% health to spare. After that I ask the fake!Tank if he can respec, but he can't. Then the real!Tank says he can and does (my forehead made contact with my desk at this point). From then on Fake!Tank tried... I think... but mostly I was still healing real!Tank (even in DPS stance and gear was still doing a far better job). Only wipe on the boarding party was fake!Tank after he decided to stand in the final lad's AOE (did explain to kill them at the same time but hey, I wasn't expecting much). I did finally learn how to manage Merc energy, since I was mostly healing myself thanks to having all the lovely aggro during the fight. Bonus boss sees us wipe since the fake!Tank clearly didn't know anything about it, and made mention of it after the wipe. Real!Tank and I both typed out explanations however then fake!Tank suddenly changes his story and says he does know the fight... okay then... second try and fake!Tank has now found his taunt button so the bonus!boss doesn't chase us all around with that nasty red circle. Final boss we got through (thanks to real!Tank smacking/taunting the second turret in each group to get it off me) and I thanked real!Tank and told fake!Tank not to queue like that and look up some guides. He the ADMITS that he knew he couldn't respec and didn't have DPS gear but the queue was taking too long. He was basically told that wipes groups and sees you put on ignore lists before I got out of there. - - Second time I was thankfully on my Operative!Healer, my main, but it was a Czerka Meltdown HM. The rest of the group is sitting around my level, on 40K, and the real!Tank puts guard on me. I click it off, and do so each time he reapplies it, not wishing to try and re-educate someone until the end, avoid any temper tantrums. The Sorc!DPS does pull at times but doesn't ask for guard (though we do strike up a pleasant whisper conversation regarding the sudden appearance of Tanks faking being DPS). Real!Tank is a Jugg, again, and so it fake!Tank. After the first pull I comment on his Tank stance and then he switches it and asks what I was on about. Thankfully the Sorc!DPS had also seen it and backed me up. The fake!Tank then, like the last one, says two Tanks could be better, especially for Duneclaw. I think the Sorc's player and I exchanged a look of disbelief through the internet, which turned into a joint facepalm when real!Tank agreed with him. Thankfully that didn't happen, and the bosses went down without too much of a hitch. Fake!Tank did reactivate his Tank stance, which annoyed me, but he clearly wasn't up on the rotation as he never stole any aggro and when he pulled the poor Sorc would get most of the aggro. When fake!Tank pulled I wouldn't heal him, and after he wiped by running well ahead of the group he seemed to fall back into line. I was wondering why real!Tank wasn't saying anything, but he did seem behind the earlier suggestion of having two Tanks, so I felt it was best not to try and get into his head. Final boss down and I quickly inform the real!Tank about why I didn't want his guard, thanked the Sorc for the entertaining whispers, and got out of there. And Tanks are usually in short supply... man... can I go back to having quality over quantity please? The queues had been doing so well! (Oh, and sorry for the length... >_> )
  3. One of the many questions I asked him *sigh* Since I heal 90% of the time I forget that there are bad healers out there >_> well aside from when I read this thread ^_^
  4. Oh I wish there was a boost we could buy to bump our characters straight to 55... Hitting the pre-55's to level my Powertech Tank and some quick classics just from today: Red Reaper, 'healer' Sorc who doesn't use Static Barrier at all, even after I ask by going the polite "oh has Static Barrier been bumped off your bars?" The two DPS are new and the Sorc attempts to give boss fight explanations... but they're all wrong. My corrections leave the Sorc calling me an idiot, but it gets better. As I have a 55 healer Sorc (and I checked the Sorc's achievements and it was his first toon) I start offering tips so he stops running low on force and get "I healed you from 20hp to full in one spell" then in the large pull after, where my poor Tank went down, got "oh that only happened as I was healing the wrong guy". I point out there is a thing called combat logs (not that I have it open or even look at it) and suddenly, sweet silence from the Sorc for the rest of the FP. After that pain I figure a quick KDY will be far less painful. If only... my same Tank and three DPS, one of them being one of those glory Marauders. No healing between pulls, so he dies a fair bit, and after one of the DPS solves the assembly puzzle complain that it "took far longer than the other way". He complained again at the end of the next phase, the hanger one, leaving the rest of us wondering what he was on about. At the final boss, the droid, he focuses the boss, ignores adds, and then when the boss goes into his self destruct phase leaps back in and dies. Then, and this was the kicker, starts yelling at the group for terrible healing and how he could have done better in his sleep. Since I was on my Tank, and the other two members were DPS, we all said "... what healer?" "We didn't have a healer." "I'm a Tank... and the rest are DPS." Us three thank one another and leave the Marauder be.
  5. I know Marauders get a bad rap, but the two Juggs I just ran into... Czerka Core Meltdown HM. Myself on my min-maxed Operative healer, a decently geared Powertech is our Tank, and the two DPS are two reasonably geared Juggs (one male, one female) from the same guild. I make the mistake of expecting a smooth run. Ehehehe.... Trash is alright, DPS seems a little low, and female!Jugg must be distracted by something as she keeps going AFK for 1-5 minutes at a time. Never telling us, just suddenly standing there. But whatever, real life happens, on we go. First boss we tackle is Enhanced Vrblther (Giant-Toss-Group-Mushroom-Eating-Monster). The Tank makes a few mistakes about positioning but the DPS... the female!Jugg continues to go AFK, and male!Jugg keeps running to the mushrooms, waiting there (not DPSing), and then smacking the mushrooms, usually too early. At least they helped with the adds so I wasn't torn apart, and we managed to kill it without any deaths... eventually. Then onto Enhanced Duneclaw. The Tank starts the fight by clicking the console and tanks Duneclaw there, and of course the first generator to light up is the one across the room, though the Powertech did almost make it. From then on it takes two doses of 'Rampage' to down each generator, but I'm managing to keep everyone up. Male!Jugg is again running ahead and hardly DPSing, and female!Jugg stops for decent lengths of time. We down the last generator and I'm thinking the boss must be close to death... nope, still at 55%. That's right, 55% after all the generators are down. We fight on but eventually the boss enrages and we wipe. I ask if anyone needs a reminder of how the fight works. The male!Jugg, and I can't believe he said it, replied with "well maybe if you actually healed and not just AOE healed we'd get this". O_O He wasn't trolling, he was being serious. I literally ran into a true idiot. And his guildy was no better. I mean I would love to be able to just AOE heal that fight through to the boss enrage... oh wait, boss enrage... yeah, totally a healer fault >_> I politely (since I didn't want to start a fight) pointed out that the boss is meant to be dead when we run out of generators, and definitely before the enrage. Female!Jugg replies with "So It's a DPS problem?" You think honey? We hit it again and the first generator is smooth, but then the male!Jugg runs to one of the generators and tells the Tank to get over to him. The poor Tank does so just before sandstorm fires up and... it's not the right generator. The three of them stay at that generator up until a 'Rampage' at which point I type a "........" into chat, which wakes the Tank up and sees him move to the correct one. He sends me a whisper apologising, to which I replied with "it's alright, it's not a tank problem". When the final generator goes down Duneclaw is sitting at 35%. We manage to down him before the enrage hits, thank the Force. On our way to the final boss the Tank asks the DPS to stop telling him how to tank, which gets a "******" from the male!Jugg and a 'we're not doing anything wrong it's your fault' from the female!Jugg. During The Vigilant I don't think the Juggs realized there were adds... or that there were cores we needed to kill on the outer (upper) ring. They leapt off smacking the cores on the ground leaving the Tank and I to handle the adds and the upper ones. When we finally get The Vigilant down the Juggs need reminding to step out of the 'Spin' attack, but we get there. I say thanks to the Tank and then scamper back to my Stronghold to calm myself with some interior decorating.
  6. Myself and a guildy ran into a DPS!Merc during HM Cadi who had 140 green gear in places, 140 purple in the rest, defence and absorption stats, did not know the boss fights, did not ask about the boss fights, died on boss fights, constantly at max heat, ignored any advice, and ninja'd everything bar the last drop. "Droid > Boss" should not be that hard to understand for the first boss of that FP. Merc decided to focus on the boss only, so once the droid was trapped she nabbed aggro from the boss, then was targetted and trapped by the droid, died from it, and decided to blame the healer. Yeah... Guildy and I both typed the boss fight strat at the same time, mine polite, his less so (when we run together we're good cop, bad cop: I'm patient, he is not). She fell silent after that. All that was missing was being in the healing cylinder and pulling before the Tank! Oh the late night/early morning queues. Not quite worth the kick when the rest of us just carried on letting her do her own confusing thing. Still, seeing as I ran HM FPs with the Guildy on four of my healers and this was the only problem player, it was overall a good, quick, night. Had the luck to run into this amazing Guardian!DPS again who does everything right and makes runs so much easier. He must watch the healer's heath and swaps targets to take care of anything the tank missed *fangirls just a little*.
  7. And my break from the weird and wonderfully bad has ended >< Very early morning server time (thanks to time zone fun) I'm not getting any action on my healers so I hop over to my Vanguard!Tank, dust him off, and figure 'well what's the worse that can happen, I forget the rotation, right?' Oh boy... Athiss HM. Have a wonderful, very well geared Commando!Healer, a well geared Gunslinger, and a Sage!DPS with a single piece of 162 gear, and the rest 140 or below. I mean green items in places. But, cause of the time, we just try and pretend things will be fine, but myself and the Commando inform him his gear is horrible and he should run Oricon or level 55 dailies for commendations since most groups would kick on sight. First pull, Sage runs in and starts it. We all save his hide and he gets informed that it's not Kuat, and Tanks actually have a part to play in the big bad HM world. Manage to get through the pulls, though slowly due to low DPS, but we make it to the line of death droids before the first boss. I ask for CC, targets are marked, and the Sage... uses his AOE attack. He melted, seeing me scamper to grab all the droids. Thankfully, no other deaths (cookies and kisses to the Commando), but he asked for a rez during the fight (which was ignored). So he gets taught what CC means and told what his is. Journey on, getting the Professor Boss down, and the Sage Needs on an aim piece, so he gets told about ninja looting and what not to do. I also noticed he ran out of Force early on so myself and the Commando both tell him to look up guides for his abilities to prevent it. At this point he mentions that he's not a sub, which I laugh at as I tell him basically "you don't need to be a sub to press the right buttons silly". Dog Boss goes down easily in the cave, start in the tunnels with the walkers. Clear the first few fine, then while we're waiting for a walker to, well, walk off, Sage decides to test out his CC. Oh... at least he was trying to help. Gets another lesson on CC & Stealth immune targets. We decided early on to not even mention the bonus and pass by it, reaching the final fight. I ask Sage if he knows about the fire, get a no in response. Quick explanation and we leap in. And who gets the fire first? Sage. He runs a little forward from the entrance, then to the middle, then starts running backwards (not turning around and running the way he came, but the slow running backwards) so gets melted by the fire. His call for a rez is ignored again as we fight on. Next round the Gunslinger gets the fire and somehow backs himself in a corner and dies. Commando and I just chip away at the boss, avoiding circles and fire, until he finally goes down. Sage is again told to look into his gear and rotations before we leave. The only thing that really got on my nerves was when we asked him if his Guild could help him, he told us they wouldn't. Don't know if that's true, but Guilds are not doing themselves any favours by allowing people to run around gaining an unwanted reputation for the Tag, though from memory his Guild was the 'quantity over quality' type so I can't say I'm surprised by the level of player they attract.
  8. I guess the first mass class from the Kuat Drive Yard academy has graduated lately, because over the last few days I've been running into people asking, in HM FPs, "where are the healing stations?" Welcome to the real FP world graduates!
  9. I hop onto my Merc!Healer and queue up with a guildy and his Assassin!Tank for a quick HM to finish off the day. Get a pop soon enough, Mando Raiders, with a Marauder and a Sorc. Both are sitting at around 27k and as my Guildy and I are well geared so we figure it will go smoothly. After the second pull the Sorc says in chat "we have two healers, huh." Excuse me? I check and yep, I have the heal icon, which I point out with: "No, one, I have the icon." Sorc sends back "one of us should respec." Needless to say I tell him "we'll wait". Thankfully he does, but considering the Tank downed the first boss before his dog adds were killed, I doubt the Sorc is particularly well versed in Sorc DPS. The fact he scatters the collected bosses for the second boss fight with a knockback after the Tank has lead them around the pillar and got them bunched nicely for AOEs did nothing to help. Even asked "why?" when we told him not to use knockbacks there (and yes, I did explain in detail as to why, with AOEs and Line of Sight and the like). Final boss and, despite the Tank and I reminding the DPS in chat to target turrets first, Sorc starts shooting lightning at boss and nothing else. A quick /yell and /no at the Sorc and he switches, but considering it only took one smack from the Tank once the turrets were down to send that boss leaping to the next corner, it was cutting it close. People not checking what they're queued for just... urg! It takes 2 seconds!
  10. Ah, my bad there. I was just reading off my usual guides and took the number from there. This is why I need supervision and tactic-checking I'd like to think no healer would let any tank get that low without any heals. Just leads to panic healing and energy/force/heat management being shot. When I'm healing I use lots of HOTs and AOE heals along with the smaller instant/channel heals rather than wait and use the big guns. But, everyone heals differently. Some of them I swear just like to give their Tanks heart attacks!
  11. Only clueless tanks put Guard on healer. There's no real need for it either if you can hold the aggro on everything. How did you turn 'anyone' into 'healer'? O_o If you can hold aggro on everything, awesome, you're the kind of Tank I love to run with . Key word, IF. As I explained in my post, aggro was being lost. Please don't read my tales incorrectly and use them for another start into a four-page debate about Guarding who and when. Had another disappointing run with an Assassin!Tank tonight. Great gear, horrible rotation, health just melting off, tunnel visioning, opening with Force Wave... I love a good Shadow/Assassin Tank, but the last several have been horrible.
  12. The DPS are given their own paragraphs further down (one in Tank gear, one just, well, an idiot). I know groups do the Asteroid Beast boss differently, but I've found that if everyone stacks right in front of the wall where the console is to start that bonus boss fight (ranged 25m away from the BOSS excluded) a quick AOE heal at the start-an-or-end of each 'Rampage' tops myself and the DPS back up to full health. Otherwise, I'm throwing individual heals on 4 people and, well, when you have a Tank like that group, you literally don't have the time. Sure everyone takes damage from the AOE part of the attack but if folks are in the required gear (not 180s, just the required gear) and use their cooldowns every so often (you get a couple'o seconds warning before he does it, usually when I throw the AOE heal down) that boss can be a breeze. Only time I'm not standing right on the Tank is when I'm standing a little to the boss' side so I can get any operatives/assassins standing behind the boss in my AOE heals. But, everyone does things differently. I just like to lazy-heal so I can throw out some DPS as well.
  13. You know you've annoyed a Gaming God when your entire group deserves to be in this thread... Myself on my Merc!Healer, decent enough gear, gets a HM Hammer Station pop. Assassin!Tank's first warning sign is no guard on anyone. Alright... next is a lack of Dark Ward for most pulls. Along with not starting fights from stealth. Needless to say we get to the group a few in that tends to wipe the unprepared and we wipe. Twice. Breaking CCs seems to be the thing these days. I will admit, the Tank got better the longer the FP went on, and followed the instructions perfectly regarding the final boss, but you know your Tank, no your group, has issues when the healer steals aggro on the bonus boss (the giant pounding space rock bug). Then there's the Jugg!DPS... in full Tanking gear. It's nice Tanking gear, but it's still Tanking gear. Seriously, you want to queue for two roles, get two sets of gear please. He's silent for most of the run. Lastly, the Sniper. Anyone who introduces themselves with "bonuz pls" I make a mental note about not to catch stupid from. Decent enough gear, terrible rotation, and likes to stand in circles of death. On the first try on the bonus boss he sets up 15m away. Doesn't stack with us, doesn't go out to 35m, ignores my requests in chat to move. He dies, then Tank melts and we wipe, I explain to the Sniper to either stand with us for AOE heals or get right out to the side, even put down some nice DPS markers to show my point. Next attempt? He sets up at 15m again. I steal aggro, wipe, we don't try the bonus again. Needless to say, when we somehow finished the FP and the Sniper asked "any1 for another HM?" I quit group immediately.
  14. Was the Tank rude to make you wait? Yes. Were the DPS rude for not voicing their lack of will to do the bonus early? Yes. Was the Healer (original poster) rude for expecting the other three to do what they wanted and pulling skipped groups? Yes. No one was blame free in that group. All of those things belong in this thread, so to see them all in the same FP is a little bit hilarious Now, my latest WPYMIGF group... Me on my darling Scoundrel!Healer, get paired with a well-geared Shadow!Tank I've run with before, a DPS!Sentinel, and a DPS!Guardian. Say the howdy howdys and off we go into HM Czerka Labs. I notice early that the trash was taking a while to down, but the Sentinel and Guardian were in average gear so I didn't dwell on it again for another few pulls, until I got the feeling we were moving just too slow. Checked them, gear was fine, buffs were up... oh, Guardian has no stance. Point it out and he clicks it on and apologises. Smooth run after? If only. We reach the first boss, the droid in the electrified water, and the first thing I notice is the Sentinel doesn't move out of the water. Or he does then runs around the outside for a good ten seconds after the water becomes clear. Tank and Guardian are dealing with the adds so they don't slaughter me but despite my attempts the Sentinel dies. Before I can stealth rez (I wasn't going to waste my combat rez) he rezzes back to the start, runs back in, stays in the next bout of electric water and dies again. It doesn't stop there. He rezzes back to the start, again, and starts running back. Somehow he dies on the way there (I still don't know how, it wasn't a fall to the bottom else I'd have seen him) so another rezz, another run back. By this stage the boss is just under 40% and enrages. Thankfully the Shadow is one of the best I've run with and the Guardian, despite his earlier moment of fail, knows his tricks, so we slowly wail down the boss and the adds while the Sentinel does... whatever he's doing. Guardian dies when boss is below 10% so I use my combat rez and we finish the droid off. I was assuming the Sentinel was used to the fluffier, SM version of the FP so I quickly point out the differences as we move ahead to the next boss, Chief Zokar. Needless to say, the fight progresses until he's throwing out the red circles of death, one of which destroys the Sentinel. Again, he rezzes, runs backs, and then is surprised the door is closed locking him out... so again the three of us keep wailing away until the Chief is down. No deaths on the final boss, though unless someone releases all the Flesh Raiders at once it's a terribly easy fight.
  15. Changing from my usual operative to my Merc!Healer, get a HM Candi with two Merc!DPS and an Assassin!Tank. Tank's decently geared and using all the correct moves but aggro is still being lost now and again, though no guard on anyone. I don't think much of it until we clear the bonus boss (again with a few aggro losses which sent the three of us running out of a sneaky pull-immune spot to avoid the red) and we're waiting for the elevator so I have a closer look. Cue me going "..... did you forget your Tank stance?!" The poor embarrassed Tank clicks their tank stance on and we finish with no issues and no further aggro loss On a slightly different note... Tactical FPs when you have two or more healers and one healer decides not to DPS. At all. Just stand there at times and wait for someone to heal. Now that is starting to get on my nerves. Between Heals Over Time and the occasional AOE Heal you don't really need to do anything more heal wise so smack the enemy! Please!
