  1. Isn't that the same design as the Makeb Imperial trooper armour (apart from the headgear, natch)? With a red and black dye you'd be most of the way there.
  2. But luckily these days you can use the outfit designer to save that look for posterity.
  3. Okay, you're being picky. Well, you did say I could. Your suggestion is certainly possible, and has always been. The reason why saber stances are locked the way they are is to add a quick visual identifier in game to help tell classes apart. - especially in pvp. It's the same reason why assassins and shadows can't use single blade sabers - so that you can quickly identity their class andd be ready for what they can do in an instant.
  4. This affects animations in dialogue scenes, most specifically when characters kiss. The engine can support scaling models up or down quite easily otherwise- for example all the boss and champion monsters that tower iver their weaker kin. But when it comes to smoochy times with your companions, it would be rather off to see them passionately snogging your torso rather than your face because you made your character hella tall.
  5. I've said it twice now so here it is a third time: The toggle would be client-side only and would not affect what others see in any way. So if I, as a player toggled visual effects for buffs off and then entered a warzone, I wouldn't see the visual effect for saber ward when I switched it on, but everyone else would. This would not affect the gameplay experience of other players at all. This is simply for greater immersion for those that wish it. I did say right at the start that this was for the visual effects for buffs and debuffs. Not active powers like lightning, because obviously not.
  6. I would VERY much like this. I began playing on the day of release so it's been years since I actually saw my main's story (and don't have the time or inclination to play through the whole thing again). I've actually forgotten a lot of the details and would LOVE to replay key moments. There is a technical problem with this of course, in that each dialogue needs to have the entire planet it takes place on loaded, but you know what? I'd put up with that. I'd be fine with it, in fact. (it would be weird seeing my Inquisitor running around Korriban as an apprentice dressed in her level 60 gear though)
  7. Sorry... bad news for you. There already is a way to bring music into your Stronghold - jukeboxes. And they're crazy expensive on the GTN and not currently available in any Cartel Pack (as far as I am aware). On my server you would have to fork out around 5,000,000 credits for a jukebox.
  8. 1) Of course it's fictional. My meaning was to have it authentic to the rest of the fiction, which is why I referred to the both the original and prequel movies as not sharing the SWTOR visual effects. 2) I made it clear (I hope) in the original post that this should not be a global option that affects other peoples' play, but a local one that only affects whether the effects appear on your own client. So to reiterate: this suggestion will have absolutely no effect whatsoever on players if they don't want to switch it on or off. It is an entirely harmless change! Isn't that better for everyone?
  9. With regards to the Zeltron, I totally agree, and would have no problem with seeing them available in game. I only mentioned the potential backlash because, well, the community here is incredibly backlashy. Forewarned is forearmed, and all that. "500CC for pink skin? What a ripoff! Why don't the art team do something worthwhile, like make jawas into mounts?"
  10. Incidentally, in Champions Online you can (with a subscribed gold account admittedly) build a jedi or sith character with a working lightsaber, telekinesis or lightning powers and specify the colour of each. Also an entirely custom outfit and alien race if you so choose.
  11. I rather suspect the reason Zeltron not making it in (other than being a relatively lesser-known species from the (old) EU) is that having reddish skin is a little too close to the Pureblood Sith to have them stand out from each other enough visually. But yes, other than that they'd be an easy species to include. It might be a tough sell for the Cartel Market though, as a lot of people would be reluctant to part with their cash just to tint their skin pink. Voss... eh. It wouldn't make much sense to have them as having grown up in Jedi or Sith enclaves as the system and species were only recently discovered by the galaxy at large, and few Voss (if any) seem altogether keen to travel off-world. Nautolon... you know, at first I'd have said they were a no-no, as their facial features are off-human, but I dunno. Maybe? They're certainly open to interspecies romance as there's a relationship between a zabrak and nautolon mentioned in the Jedi Knight story. Also, gold star for realistic species ideas, not the usual ridiculous "I wanna play a Jawa/Ewok/Yoda" stuff.
  12. The exceptions are adaptive armour, which is mostly bought off the Cartel Market. If you want, for instance, your big heavy-armour-loving Juggernaut wearing nothing more than a flimsy loose Smuggler's shirt, you can, and not lose any of the armour rating either. For instance, this is how my Jedi Guardian and Kira are dressed at the moment.
  13. Every time I return to this game it seems that there are more and more visual effects for buffs, debuffs and so on. When I play solo or in small groups I find them ultimately very distracting and unnecessary. They're also rather 'un-Star Wars' - when Darth Maul got ready to fight, giant glowing purple runes didn't float around him, and when Luke and Vader were duelling there were no red or blue bubbles surrounding them for defence. Essentially it can break immersion for those wanting a more authentic Star Wars experience. I get why these are there - they're fast-identifiable visual shorthand in multiplayer situations - PVP and Operations especially. Indeed, on the rare occasion I take part in PVP I would want all these effects switched back on. And obviously I don't want this to affect other people's play - if they want to see the effects, they should. So what I'm asking for is the ability to switch off the more intrusive visual effects locally for your client only. Ideally an option would be: Show graphical effects for powers: Always When in groups In PVP and Operations groups only Never
  14. I think it's more likely to be a cartel market purchase than anything else.
  15. There was a rule on those shows (which were shown on childrens' channels) that no alien speech would be subtitled so kids that struggled with reading at speed would not be put off watching. So most aliens would speak basic - including races not previously given to the language such as hutts and Rodians. Where this was impossible the directors resorted to some old tricks - other characters repeating or translating what was just said for the benefit of the audience, or where that was not possible, an autotranslate device to be worn by Ithorians etc. So yeah, it was an invention of convenience for the show, rather than a deliberate extention of the lore.
