  1. I had Republic v Republic huttball twice last night on The Deadweight. WTB more sith that werent 50 and geared in a week.
  2. Havent logged in since the update, so Im at no loss. Roll that shait back.
  3. Already bought a 2 month sub card. Im having a blast and will be sticking around. While I dont know about in-game population, one thing is for sure...the forums are going to drastically change on the 20th as an active sub is required to post. I expect epic levels of rage Thursday, and a quite calm on Friday.
  4. The search function is so wonderful! It makes it easy to suss out trolls and /ignore them.
  5. I use the thumbstick for movement by up - forward; down - back; left - left strafe; right - right strafe. I always turn using my mouse. I tried using the joystick click for jump, but if your moving its un-reliable as to whether it works or not, so I just use one of the keys. The center keys have two sets of bindings. One is 1-6, 1-6 with alt, and 1-6 with shift. Commands that I dont use often, or dont need to use fast (quick-map, fleet pass, class buff, etc) are in the 7 to 12 slots on the bars. No, its not enough slots for every skill they give you, but then again I dont use more than 18 of the skills that often during combat.
  6. Ill echo this. Ive got a 40 Combat Medic that chews up 50s. For some reason, the squishy Empire classes dont know what to do when they get stunned...even if its just a short cryo nade. Its like you break their channeled skill and you get a 5 sec Herp-derp stun that affects the player directly. That said, there are one or two quality empire guilds, but the crap far outweighs the good. We also have about 4-5 good republic guilds: - Centurion (shameless self plug) - Hazmat - Balance - Robot Secks Hotline - Knights of the Old Republic Its good times. Heck, I even get Republic v Republic Huttball!
  7. Last night I played two WZs with my 36 Commando healer and got amazingly different results. In the first match (on Alderaan), myself and a tank spec shadow in their mid 20s guarded the left point the whole match. We had the same group of 4 sorcs/assasins come after us 3 times, with 2 of them being 50s. The Shadow guarded me and I healed him. We held our own until help got there each time and only lost the control point once when they mezed both of us simultaneously, but got it back shortly thereafter. Second match was Huttball (republic vs republic again...groan). I was getting focused pretty badly and my team was running around like a heard of cats. I died. Alot. At one point I got cornered by a lowbie Sentinel. Now, Im thinking to myself "I got this...just heal up and chew him down". This is working ok until a healbuff spawns in the corner were in and the Sentinel gets there first. Now Im in trouble. But glory be! A 50 Vanguard is coming up to help!! Except, he never guards me and just stands there Hammershot-ing away. Like...never even used a Stick Nade or anything. I died, and the vanguard lays into the Sentinel after Im dead. <sigh> If there hadnt been less than 5 minutes left in the match I would have quit at that point. I stopped healing and just started DPSing so I could at least get a medal or two. Its not the healing thats broken, its the players.
  8. Inigo Montoya would like to have a word with you...

    The Core Issues

    1) Tanks that tank are rare on my server, regardless of PvP or PvE, so Ill take your word on it. 2) Agreed. What is the point of the system if it doesnt actually keep your from getting CCed? 3) Sort of agree. More visual queues that are in the area that draws the eye (upper center part of the screen...where the action is) would be nice. Watching buff bars 100% of the time is a PITA. 4) I can only speak to Commando healing, but it does seem odd that force-using healers regenerate their resource at a constant rate while tech healers have diminishing return curves to fight if they over-extend resources while healing. Maybe balance this somehow? 5) How exactly is this going to be accomplished? Most premades have longer queues anyway simply because it takes longer to slot 3-4 together than just 1. Its a social game. Make friends. 6) No. In addition to destroying server communities, this would encourage griefers/AFKers/oter general scum as they are less likely to get a bad wrap and summarily ignored. 7) I dont see how this can be addressed in instanced PvP other than making more same-faction WZs. For open world, I would agree than whoever is outnumbered on a particular world ought to get an outnumbered buff (say, extra damage/extra defense against other players...not NPCs) 8) I thought Rock-Paper-Scissors was the design philosophy for classes from the beginning. Each class is never going to be perfectly balanced against the others nor was it meant to be. WAI and Im OK with it. As for deathmatch style arenas...sure, whatever floats your boat. I wont queue for them though. Ive always preferred objective based play. I also think RPS type gameplay is more fun in group environments than cookie cutter toons with largely cosmetic differences.
  10. I dunno...I would rather put points in Iron sights or Field Training than Soldiers endurance. 4% more crit or 6% more aim seems more important than 3% more endurance.
  11. This is pretty much how LOTRO tanking was. Biggest difference I see is that (for JK at least) aggro management more or less means being in the right stance and less on using the right abilities. But with damage taking, LOTRO was like this from the Mines of Moria launch until ROI released. Even squishies could tank if they needed to. Havent really tanked in this game yet, but I always had a "you pulled it you own it" philosophy. Having team-mates that can take the blows just makes this easier. As for Commando healing...Off-heals nothing! I can hold my own as a main healer. I can usually heal through 2 players focusing on one friendly in PvP and can keep myself up just about indefinitely in a 1v1. 'mando healing is all about resource management. You gotta stay above half ammo or your regen rate goes in the toilet. Fill gaps with HS for free heals and to build CSCs. The thing is, before about level 25 commando healing is really weak. Once you have about 15 points in the combat medic tree and access to both of your probes and kyoto bomb you will be fine.
  12. That is the government... Back OT: One thing that I have noticed about PvP players...they are some of the best players I have ever encountered in PvE instances. This is not just a "pat yourself on the back" thing. That unpredictability that everyone talks about forces players into different situations that they then have to react to. You learn things about your class that you never would otherwise. How to do insane burst damage How to heal through anything How to soak up damage like Shamwow on 'roids ...because if you dont you die. Your opponent is constantly changing, as is the situation, and you adapt. Good PvP players take that adaptability back into PvE encounters and learn how to overcome obstacles that daunt most other players.
  13. Honestly The Deadweight seems rather balanced to me. I usually have a 1-2 min queue as a Republic player and rarely see huttball (although I have done Rep v Rep hutball...that was WEIRD). The only place we fall a little short is the population side. Were a "Heavy" server that peaks at "very heavy". You will see the opposite faction in the open world, but so far I havent noticed any running open world battles. On Alderaan I usually see an opposing faction player when Im out questing. Overall, its been a good place to roll.
