  1. I really fail to understand the need for a change this big. Okay, so maybe companions were a bit overpowered in some cases. I can understand reducing them to slightly below an average player's healing output, for instance, so they don't become a necessity in flashpoints. But beyond that, they're not a part of competitive gameplay, and as long as they don't overshadow actual players, their power level is largely irrelevant to the game's balance as a whole. For those of us who play SWTOR mostly solo (odd work hours, not enough time for grouping, KOTOR fans here for their fix, etc), the extent of this nerf is a kick in the balls. I came back for 4.0, loved the storyline, and loved the new companion system. I leveled my main to 65, then went back to some old, abandoned rerolls (and to create a couple new ones), intending to enjoy the new system with them as well. Bummer. So I've unsubbed (like anyone cares, I know) and explicitly wrote down the reason in the neat little text field they made just for that. I hope they revert (at least partly) that change soon ; it's unlikely I'll wait for more than a couple weeks before moving on to some other game, and inertia will take its toll ... EDIT : I realize some of you may find unsubbing over this matter a bit childish. The point is not to make a tantrum, however, but to state that making such ham-fisted changes and then totally ignoring hundreds (thousands?) of messages is *not* acceptable.
  2. Had the same problem, followed the procedure described here and it fixed my problem : http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/Game-won-t-start/m-p/4953859#U4953859 Short version : go to SWTOR folder delete (or rename) bitraider folder start launcher as usual and let it validate/fix itself, it should start downloading stuff around 93% Note : if you can't delete the bitraider folder because some remaining swtor process already has hold of it, just reboot.
  3. Amen to that. I can't believe they're blatantly lying to us then silently fixing the problem. They probably just have no idea how to restore the BCA and gems anyway. I'm highly disappointed by Bioware's communication management.
  4. Sounds like an excellent idea. Ashara's force burst looks way better than project, and would solve the delay problem when compared to the inquisitor's shock.
  5. Of course, complete XML customization by the users would be perfect. Barring that : - allow us to scale up the icon size for our own debuffs on the target (a 100% to 300% slider would be nice), since we have no way of knowing if a dot belongs to us or to someone else - allow us to scale up the icon size for our procs, and/or provide a really obvious, customizable graphical effect. Your nice little effects on the character don't work, there's no way we can notice them in the middle of a serious fight Not quite as important, but I'd appreciate to be able to move the affection gain popups, they keep appearing over the subtitles text, and it's annoying.
  6. Haven't tried as many crafts as some posters in this thread, but I crafted about 10 rakata relics with a maxed affection companion, which should mean a 15% crit chance each time. Of course, no crit. The chance for that to happen is slightly below 20%, so that's still very possible. Of course, 20 crafts without a crit has a 3.9% chance to happen, and 30 crafts without a crit is about 0.75%. So either we're all extremely unlucky, or there's something rotten in the realm of artifice. What I wonder, though, is how we're going to convince bioware to give us back our materials if it turns out there's really a bug.
  7. It does. And since they want to phase out reusables (as in not introduce new reusable biochem items when new levels of gear are introduced), they should just make reusables available to anyone. What's the point of making them BOE anyway if only biochemists can use it? Besides, you still need the one-time stims if you want the best bonuses.
  8. Depends on what you want to do. For pvp, X/X/31 rules, to get the root from Sever Force. For endgame pve, 1/12/28 has a slight edge over pure madness and pure TK.
  9. Obviously, it's more elegant (sorry, had to say it)
  10. Thanks for the info. Couldn't take Passenger List today, but I just started doing the dailies, I'll check again tomorrow.
  11. 8 daily commendations for a hilt is at most a 45-mins time investment (and much less for a stealthed class who will solo the Belsavis H4's), which will also reward you with around 50k creds. Probably better than spending a few thousand creds on missions and waiting for the right materials to come up.
  12. Thank you for assuming that whoever complains is a poor gamer. I don't claim to be an excellent gamer (I am not), but I try to keep up on my theorycrafting and optimize keybinds/mouse/etc to play correctly. I just happen to : - play in a casual guild built around groups of RL friends where not everyone has the same level (hint : friends means that no, I'm not going to change guilds just to get a bigger e-peen) - have an actual RL, complete with job, wife and kids, which has a tendancy to put a dent in anyone's game schedule Beyond that, thank you for stating exactly the problem with this situation : you require game management just to be able to afford raiding. This is a frigging game, not a second job. I enjoy raiding with friends and have done so for years on "that other MMO", but it's never been as punitive as TOR is. I'm not saying making credits is difficult. It's ridiculously easy. But given the choice between spending an hour a day mindlessly farming to pay repair bills and actually enjoying myself pvp'ing or exploring other classes' main quests ... I'd much rather enjoy myself. TL;DR : forcing us to farm has absolutely no point. If there's too much money in the game, let them create actual gold sinks.
  13. Meaning that to be a raider in TOR, you not only need the time to raid, but you need to be able to spend a couple more hours online every day. That's just horrible design.
  14. Having to farm 1-2 hours to pay a wipe night's bill is ludicrous. At least, if the farmed content gave some credits ... as it is, I'm considering strongly lowering my raid attendance if not stopping altogether. Except on raid nights, I'm lucky if I can get 1 or 2 hours a day playing. If raiding means those hours are dedicated to farming, then I'll pass.
