  1. I dunno about anyone else but i needed a coffee after trying to read all that...
  2. LMAO! This takes the biscuit, complaining about the unsub reason choices.
  3. I only have one... Users who have cancelled their subs are blocked from posting in this forum cause they are basically only here to troll.
  4. I'm running an AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition CPU on an AMD chipset based mobo from Asus...and its running TOR and any other game and app i throw at it fine.
  5. FPS has been stagnant for more than half a decade, the only thing the FPS genre does is push the graphics engines harder. All FPS games have had built in story lines from the old days running at 800x600 on the original quake, fast forward to the past 5 years the current crop of FPS games are basically the same thing, rehashed over and over again with a different spin and some added extras. FPS games can only do so much before the engine that runs them becomes bloated.
  6. Yeah lets just stick teleporters everywhere...make traveling faster. While BW is at it, they should replace the lightsabers with fecking phasers and then call the game STAR TREK: ONLINE 2... ...sheesh, what, you all have such a busy lifestyle you cant press that arrow key down for longer than 30 seconds?
  7. I'm not a kid, and i don't have ADD, i like this game. It was set up for the casual players like me, and the casual playerbase probably makes up more than half of the playerbase of TOR. If it started getting too slow paced then the casual gamers would casually walk away silently and unsubscribe.
  8. You come onto this forum and whine...that's what everyone else who's lvl 50 seems to be doing.
  9. What...we all suddenly become your Secretary or something?
  10. Well, as someone who used to work in the PC gaming industry a LONG LONG time ago (yeah, I feel old...) here's what I would do... 1: Hire a new set of folks to look after the forum, hire two more Community Reps. One extra to look after the forums and one to look after the site. BioWare's lack of communication right now makes my days as one of Activisions staff look really rosey... 2: Lock down the current running build. No game change code means that all current code lines of the game is locked in place, once that takes effect I would then direct all the resources of the devs to go through the code one more time after looking at selected threads (not all, cause most of the threads in this general forum are whiney assed kids). I would instruct the devs to look at these topics and then go through the code in a scrum developer mentality, releasing daily patches (yes DAILY PATCHES) to the test server for testing with a 1 week turn around. 3: I would then make an announcement on the site that anyone who tests the game on the test server for more than 1 day a week, will have access to goodies in a new "Test Server Vendor" on the main servers as a thank you for testing the roll out patches. 4: The lock down would run for an entire month. The basis would be to weed out the vast majority of the bugs in the current game code. 5: I would then instruct the Community Manager's who pick a random selection of 100 people. 50 from the folks of the old beta test community, 50 from new sign ups after the launch of the game. These 100 people would be picked randomly from the user database. Then an email would be sent out to these 100 people asking basic questions about how they are finding the game. Reason i would pick out 50 from the beta is because they have been with this game since closed doors. Reason i would pick new sign up's is cause...well..they are new. These 100 people would change every 2 weeks so its not always the same 100 people giving feedback. In the days of me working at Interplay and Activision this is the kind of thing that sometimes went on if a game launch was coming up or had been released. Game development changed drastically just as I left the industry in 2000 to a more closed door attitude, back in the 90's...we LISTENED to the community...now that aint the case. It;s why there has been a serious degradation to the overall Day 1 release of PC games over the past 10 years.
  11. I think it is worth it. It's adds life to the game, and heck i recognized Paul Darrows voice at the start of the Sith Warrior storyline (Avon from the old UK TV Sci-Fi Program Blakes 7) that alone is worth the price! Further ahead though, the voice acting may end up becoming a problem in future expansions. If BW do the expansions stand alone and not change the content of the main game itself, it should be ok for them. However if sometime down the road they are going to be overhauling the storylines for one or more classes from maybe halfway through, having to redo all that voice acting work is gonna cost them.
  12. I'm sorry you have a very low attention span which would entail that you not wanting to watch a cutscene should be the prerequisite for you kicking someone out of your group. Even if that person in the group will more than likely be playing that flashpoint for the first time or maybe second time and they may be enjoying a story. Maybe you should go to Facebook and play Farmville instead.
  13. You need to know how the backend programming of a game engine works before you can surmise on it being replaced "soon". The "engine" of the game is hundreds of thousands of lines of code at its core. Each asset of the game, NPC's, Textures, Quest Coding, weapons, weapon damage...EVERYTHING you see, hear, do and kill in the game is locked to that core engine...everything. Infront of the core mechanics engine is the parse engine which handles the code between the core of the engine and the user...basically...you. Infront of that is the UI and Backend engine, that handles the code lines between the buttons you push on the UI and parses it into the mechanics and into the core. Infront of that is the Front end engines...Physics, lighting and shadows and graphics. You replace one...you need to replace ALL of them. It would take BW about 3 to 4 years to recode the game with a new engine, and that's a lenient estimate. Reason i know this? Two years working in Activision (Pre Vivendi/Blizzard merger) and two years working in Interplay (before their first bankruptcy...when Interplay was a HUGE company). Sure, engines have changed since i last worked in the gaming industry, but the layered style of core game mechanics is still there, just diluted down a lot.
  14. Just like the vast majority of the threads in this forum full of whiney ex WoW/Rift/*insert other MMO's here* its usually a minority selection that usually make a post and then slip in "BUT MOST PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM!!!!11111" without giving hard facts or evidence. The forum moderators of this wash out of a forum should be sacked and BW should also order the community manager to do their damn job and manage this community by kicking out the trollers, haters and idiots to ruin most of the threads here.
  15. Same things happened to me twice, was killing mobs, i have no interest in PvP and all of a sudden a bunch of republic's appeared and started wailing on me...its been happening now two days in a row. I've sent a ticket into BW obviously they will just ignore it, i have no interest in PVP at all, I'm on a PVE server. Keeps happening I'll simply unsub and leave.
