  1. I know you know deep down that Bioware will never ever make a statement like that. Bioware will continue to feed whoever is left in this once awesome pvp community a line about how the next patch will fix a lot of the on going problems and that they are listening to the problems that remain within swtor pvp. I'm very suprised that I stuck around as long as I did... but I was a Bioware fanboy and I love the Star Wars universe. As much as I throw this game at the feet of EA and the need to generate a game just good enough to keep people spending cartel coins I must admit and it hurts me to say this but... I'm not a Bioware fanboy anymore. Man that hurt typing out.
  2. I have quit. I haven't found another game but still haven't logged into star wars to play the last of my game time... it's been awesome catching up on the fall tv shows. I do happily suggest that people walk away from this game. Things will not get better. PVP is the ugly step child and will always be treated as such. So as a former 3-5 hour daily pvper I have to say CaptRogue's advice is sound. QUIT. hehe.
  3. and make queue times even longer then they are now...
  4. " But we got a dev quote that will last till the end." Love it.
  5. I decided to come back and check out arenas... I like them... when I get to play. I have about a month remaining on my sub and to be honest I'm really not sure if I'm going to re-sub. That being said... I have to admit that I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I'm enjoying Arenas and it's pace of gameplay but the fact that I have to sit in solo ranked arenas queue for extend periods of time this soon after 2.4 launched is not a good sign of things to come. Getting 3 ranked arenas in 2 hours this morning was depressing and from what I hear only three or four guilds have been playing team ranked arenas. added: Think I annoyed some people in Genchat this AM complaining about the lack of queue pops. hehe.
  6. There is a match making system in place and it does work. The problem is that the player base is too small to see the match making system do the job it was build for. Oh well. All I can do is speak personally and in my eyes the biggest failure made by the dev team is the total lack of class balances. I've taken a break and to be honest I'm not completely sure I'll be coming back for anything longer then a couple weeks after trying out patch 2.4. I'm dumbfounded. I don't understand how can the dev team can advertise and release a "PVP patch" and not take a serious look at class balances. Especially when the class balance in the game is so obviously unbalanced and has been so for months! Some can and do argue its been unbalanced for over a year... just look at how long Merc / Mando healing has been irrelevant to any form of competitive pvp game play. Indifference is setting in. I'm also tried of being told... "Don't worry, it will get better in 3-6 months! We will address all issues you have in the next patch... or maybe the one after the next one." by the community managers, the dev team and the fan boys. To be honest. I just don't care anymore. I've moved on from being angry and frustrated to just not giving a crap. Arenas may be fun... or not. I may hit the re-sub button when my time runs out shortly after patch 2.4 launch... or not. It is what it is.
  7. Complete Balance is unobtainable. Unless you are playing a very dry and simple game ie: Paper, Rock, Scissors. The whole purpose of balancing is to create a power shift in the way the game is currently being played. Every "balance" will allow the player base to continually hunt for the "perfect" class build and team dynamic... which of course will change again a month when the next class balance is released. The reason this works is because hypothetically every class gets its day in the sun and the player base will constantly be forced to change the way they play. Star Wars game play is and has been stagnate for a very very very long time... Balance will not change that but a shift of power in various classes would. The whole purpose to regular class balances are to give the players something new and shiny to play with, without the need to add new content.
  8. End of Story. There is a reason they are called Flavor of the Month classes... Skill Balances should be monthly.
  9. No. Most people were holding on for the "PvP" patch in 2.4 but when the pvp player base got a good look at what the "PvP" patch brought to pvp it turned out to be the straw for alot of pvpers. * Removal of PvP content / No start of Season 1 for rated 8v8 because of its removal. * No Class Balancing. This was my biggest problem. As a player base we have gotten maybe three relevant skill balances throughout the life of the game and to not give us a skill balance for a "PvP" patch is beyond silly. * Addition of a new pvp game type that got mixed reviews from serious pvpers in the community. * Arenas are launching with less then promised. Three instead of Four. * Huttball is all but gone. * Community Managers that belittle the player base. Unintentionally. Heal to Full. * No Response to MAJOR concerns. Total disregard of the pvp community and all its very founded worries. and the slap in the face * More PvE content will be released with the "PvP" patch then PvP content. I've hit the unsub button. I'm just upset that I completely bought into the "wait for the PvP" patch hype and payed for multiple character transfers and a three month subscription continuation before looking into what I would be getting.
  10. Too be honest... nothing has really changed. You can count the amount of serious class balances since launch on one hand... missing fingers.
  11. I think the reason I keep feeling the need to respond to this thread is the fact that I feel completely betrayed. Xinika was just voted into a position where she/he is to be a voice for the players. I understand the position that she/he takes but I'm really hurt by the tune in which is used... I feel talked down to. Bioware advertise 2.4 as the "PVP patch". In my opinion we pvpers are losing as much as we are gaining. Yes Arenas will be a nice distraction but will it fill the hole left by the removal of organized 8v8 objective based ranked content? I not sure. What I do know is that this "PVP patch" is as much if not more a PvE patch... again that feeling of betrayal. All I know is that I will miss organized team based Huttball... ALOT! I'm bitter about paying $20 per character to get them to pvp servers, I'm bitter about the "PvP patch" taking away as much as it is giving, I'm bitter about this post and class representative tone throughout the post... I really and truly hope that I can get over it and enjoy the game again.
  12. Tell that to all the PVPers that payed $20 per character to transfer off a PVE server to a PVP server specifically for RATED 8v8 content. BUT hey... your entitled to your wrong opinion.
  13. I take it from your above post that rated 8v8 objective pvp is content you do not consume in this game. By all means enjoy the content SWTOR provides any way you like.
  14. I may be reading into this a little too deeply Xinika but the tone you use though-out your post says something completely different. Even the title of this thread seems to carry a different tone... Why the death of ranked is a good thing! #backpedaling #forumskey
  15. I'll start off by saying that I've pretty much all but stopped pveing in SWTOR. I do really enjoy the in game events. I level alts through pve content and do the odd flashpoint. Over the last 6 months the ONLY thing that has kept me in game has been watching (TwitchTV streamers) and playing rated pvp... It is content. Taking away 8v8 objective pvp is removing content. You can not argue this point. We are getting 4v4 non-objective team death match arenas in its place. I'm all for adding the arenas... but why should it come at the expense of the current pvp community and don't tell me its a SMALL community... Just check out the SWTOR tab on TwitchTV the bulk of the popular streamers advertise RATED matches. I have numberous friends that don't play in rated pvp but love watching it. At the end of the day I really feel removing this content will only hurt the SWTOR community.
