  1. What you state is just plain wrong. The reward or penalty for ranked is the ELO rating you gain or lose. The daily and weekly quests you finish are just there to allow continued participation in the game mode. Regarding what you say about turning new players away from ranked: Yes. This behaviour turns new players away from ranked. Even more so, that is the intention. I will also tell them the reason. And i feel i am entitled to articulate the frustration when people do not care enough to fulfil even the most basic of prerequisites. Now, there are limits and telling people to go kill themselves is certainly off limits. But I am certainly not mincing my words when those people do not care to listen to the pointers and recommendations but rather continue to grief / troll.
  2. I agree with that sentiment. Solo ranked PVP is the only game mode that does not allow any type of control over who you are playing with. PVE Group Content without Groupfinder: Full control over group composition. PVE Group Content with Groupfinder: Full knowledge but no control over group composition. Can decline participation without penalty. PVP Regular Warzones: 50% control over group composition while queuing as a group PVP Group Ranked Arenas: Full control over group composition. PVP Solo Ranked Arenas: No control over group composition. No knowledge about group composition. Declining participation results in penalty. This has resulted in two workarounds: 1) Queue syncing on faction with less players 2) Queue dodging Instead of playing this game mode without interruption, sound strategy to accomplish a high ELO is based on knowing when to queue and when not to queue. It is also sound strategy to re-roll characters if you are experiencing bad results over the course of your first ten games. Rinse and repeat until you have at least a 7-3 or preferably better record over your first ten matches. I think it is very obvious that under these circumstances, people are very upset when they are confronted with players that show no inclination to treat this game mode as serious as should be expected given the system of the game. In my opinion, this should include: 1) Be geared (set bonus) and fully augmented 2) Have basic grasp of game controls (Keybinds) 3) Be capable to execute your DPS rotation without flaws in a static environment. 4) Be capable to execute your DPS rotation without major flaws in a non-static environment (read: PVP) 5) Know how to use your defensive cool downs, buffs, de-buffs, etc. 6) Be able to follow basic strategy (kill order) 7) Don't play underpowered classes while not being experienced enough to compensate The vitriolic behaviour that sometimes can be witnessed usually appears when people play ranked without adhering to those very basic concepts. Thankfully, I have been able to escape the hell of ELO rating this season. I have played roughly 900 matches this season, my highest rated toon is at 2100 ELO. I play on TRE, which means that during prime time I mostly do not get in groups with players that fail to follow these very basic guidelines. But every so often during less populated hours, you get into games where players are not even capable of this. There is no hell worse than getting grouped with a Powertech, Juggernaut or Sorc DPS, who is not augmented and wears starter lvl green / blue items with a 2x valour level. It are those people which I will under any circumstance tell to not queue ranked, listing those reasons. The outcome will most often be that of the Original Poster. He will get melted within seconds. Which is just plain unfair to those that play with him in good faith. If I encounter them a second time i will most probably be a littler harsher in my language (though without telling them to kill themselves, that is a little too harsh tbh). If they then continue to queue, I will stop playing myself until there is more people playing again. It is unfortunate that this has to be the case, but the state of the game (population) and the lack of cross-server or even cross-faction queues directly lead to this situation.
  3. See title. Name is well known. Is also on the leaderboards again with 49 wins, 1945 rating. @Eric: He probably has been reported by several times by now. Pls act swiftly. We had 6 weeks (since Christmas) with great queues and without hackers. I would be very happy if that could be the case a little longer....

    Yes we can!

I don't think anything that has been discussed here is the sole root of all problems with group ranked / solo ranked. Rather, its an amalgam. Hence, one simple (or not so simple) fix to one facet of ranked PVP is not going to improve the situation which we currently have. Actually though, we are witnessing a solution that has nothing to do with matchmaking (the lack of which is frustrating), faction imbalance (that invites Sync: MVPs *cough*) lack of trinity (which I lament), OP classes (there are no blatantly blatantly OP classes, just classes that are easier to play well. Mercs *cough*), underpowered DPS classes (there are some, like Juggs, Sorc, PT, Operative) or the clear pecking order of healers and Tanks. Quite to the contrary, the solution has nothing to do with gameplay. It is only the incentives that will get people to play a certain game mode. To date, 65k solo ranked matches have been played over the course of Season 8, compared to 67k matches that were played during the entirety of Season 7. We are already above the numbers of Season 5 and 6, which lasted longer in time than Season 8 has so far. I am quite positive that we will see the highest solo ranked participation since Season 1/2. (All numbers courtesy of TorCommunity.com) Why is that? Because of the grind instituted with 5.0. The decent CXP payouts from solo ranked are enough of a reason, apparently, that people are playing more of this game mode. It is as simple as that. Institute an incentive to queue group ranked and people will do so. Right now, there is no incentive for all those groups in regs queue to play group ranked. If there was a big enough incentive, more would do and hence would instantly solve much of the problems associated with matchmaking. Make CXP payouts bigger for group ranked. Not gamebreaking, but a lot bigger. See participation rise. I know, it is only a crutch. I would much rather have them find solutions to the real problems i stated above and are quite obvious to anyone playing PVP in this game. But I lost the belief that they can change all this a long time ago.
  5. I just saw that as well... It is unfortunate. I dont know if it is wintrading, but whatever it is , it is very unfortunate.
  6. Weaponbox the dream. Also, pls gift us awesome sauce armor set.
  7. I dont think there is any way to accurately describe how insanely frustrating and retarded everything associated with Galactic Command, the gearing system introduced in 5.1, opening GC crates and the goddamn RNG grind is. IT IS FRUSTRATING AND I AM WRITING IT IN CAPS!!!!! And now the devs think saving it in 2 months is fine. Instead of reducing the grind to a minimum with an "emergency patch". Reduce CXP required for levels. Increase payouts in PVP for components. Increase payouts elsewhere. Reduce gear cost. Do that and buy yourselves the time to get rid of the system altogether and introduce something better. You dont have the time or else you run into the problems Snave outlined....
  8. Offheal ftw..... If you play with something else in mind, then rather dont...
  9. Dear Trixxie, keep your head up and don't cave in to the bullying of those that produce these videos or the hackers (which are probably the same people). Sad to say that this is not a safe space, but you have allies. On-Topic: A char proclaiming that Hirchart loves Flondi has been hacking/trolling/throwing games on TRE all day. Apparently, he has also found a way to votekick players from games that were killed in combat. Happened to me once and to another player as well. I have no clue how he does it, but I know that he is able to do this. I have never seen this happening before. Welp. This makes it -200 ELO this season thanks to hacking.
  10. I have mained a Shadow / Assassin since picking up the game shortly after RotHC. Played Tank and DPS in Ops and later in PvP. I have all but given up on that class though. Ever since 3.0, you have taken away range on our abilities, diameter on our AOEs, changed our mechanics to make us fight more and now you are going to completely **** up our mobility. As of right now, we are pretty much dogsh*t DPS in PVP without our escapes. As of right now, we are completely undesirable as DPS in endgame PVE. As tanks, we are currently in a decent position in both PVE and PVP. But we are far from the most desirable class and can only be successful through cheezing mechanics (PVE) or playing as quasi DPS (PVP). What in the world makes you believe, that taking away mobility is improving the overall situation of the class vis a vis the other classes in the game? Are you adding to our DPS potential, particularly sustained single target damage for Hatred/Serenity and burst for Deception? Because if you don't, you don't seem to have even the slightest idea about the meta in PVP and the desirability of certain classes in endgame PVE. Which tbh seems the most likely case and doesn't surprise me at all given your history of bad decision making in dealing with your player base.
  11. I am going to stay, but will expand my horizon a little. I progression raided in 2.x, added PVP in 3.x and in the 4.x era did nothing but PVP. In 5.x, I think I am going back to doing both again. I am not going to quit, but the time (and money) spent on the game has declined a lot and will continue to decline, unless they introduce real new content. The grind i will do to a certain degree, but it will be laid back, even if that means that I am at a gear disadvantage in PVP.
  12. So I have to grind that sh*tfest of a new UI to get access to the highest lvl gear to be able to play PVP. If I dont grind, I am disadvantaged against others in the game mode I play almost exclusively. Get rekt, f*cktards. I am outta here.
