  1. Came back after the holidays and the resolution issues I was having were gone. Until today, now they're back for no clear reason. I have not updated Windows 10 or my video drivers in the time between when SWTOR was last working properly and this morning. The issue I'm having is exactly as described in the first post: the game is forcing a 1400x1050 display ratio on my 16:9 widescreen monitor, causing ugly stretching. My client_settings.ini file has the correct dimensions, however.
  2. Does no one have other things I could try to fix whatever 4.0.3a broke? I've done a number of searches and all I can find that could cause this is .ini file problems, yet my .ini has the correct values.
  3. Just patched the game. Log in... and my resolution is wonky. Everything is stretched horizontally, as if the game was using a 4:3 resolution on my 16:9 scale monitor. I've had this happen before so I knew what should work: opened the .ini file in: C:\Users\[[account]]\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings But the .ini file is correct! Native width/height, width, and height are all correctly valued! So I'm at a loss for what to do. Anyone know of a higher level fix if the .ini isn't in error? To be clear: My native resolution is 1600x900 and my .ini file has both native height and height at 900, native width and width at 1600. Yet when I load the game it appears as if it were trying to display 1400x1050. Additional detail: My desktop resolution changes while SWTOR is running since the patch. If I tab out, all my windows are resized once I launch SWTOR and they revert after I close it. What the heck did the patch break?
  4. I don't mean click-and-hold to turn the camera. I mean mouse-look in the sense that if I move my mouse around the camera is tied to it. It also means that I have no way of selecting targets with the mouse or of interacting with my inventory, etc etc. In particular, I was unable to roll on gear that dropped until I "fixed" this problem by force-closing the game and reloading.
  5. I've had this happen twice now and both times during the Blood Hunt flashpoint. If I get punted off the stadium during the Valk/Jos fight my cursor will vanish and I get put into a mouse look mode. I don't normally have any options enabled where I even should be *able* to get into a mouse look mode, and it's only occurring after deaths from falling in that area.
  6. As a medic, Ensign Temple is by far my favorite. I don't want a companion that is melee dps or at least has a tendency to enter melee, since that means we'll both get caught in the same aoe attacks (if they can't be avoided), and I don't need the Doctor's healing. At that point I'm left with one option: Temple.
  7. Are you looking for this thread? I'm not clear on how yours differs, unless your goal is to update more often with a more comprehensive list. To clarify: you have been posting in the other, so obviously you're aware of it. But that thread - at least on its page one - had a guild list started. Is your thread designed around this specifically, so the other can spin off into community chatter?
  8. We've been roleplaying our characters' time period up to arrival at the 729th Battalion of the IMSD and their first day - we only made it through 24 hours - in the two months leading up to launch. This was done with a combination of play by post on our forums, then into more dynamic real time roleplay through TS (typed, not spoken). So, really, we have been roleplaying quite a bit already and for those that frequently took part we have already gotten a good feel for who our characters are and how they interact with their fellow unit members. As a result, we have already established a clear setting and timeline that just isn't compatible with the more casual "pick-up roleplay" in these first couple weeks after launch. This doesn't mean that we'll always avoid this style entirely, but that it just doesn't fit with the current status of our campaign story and character setting. More simply, what we're doing is like running a tabletop RPG within the game. At times it can be very flexible, but in the middle of a significant plot story it just doesn't make sense to take time out one session to do something completely different and independent of the current, ongoing story.
  9. It doesn't seem evil if it's the civilization you grew up in. While the Dark Lords get all the press, the Empire is primarily non-force using citizens who - call it brainwashing if you must - have a deep respect for their government and way of life. And if we are asked to fight to preserve it, we will. This does not make us evil.
  10. When you have the skills spent to improve it, Diagnostic Scan is another tool in your energy regen toolbox. Not as dramatic as Adrenaline Probe, but over a long fight I know I regen more energy from scans and Stim Boost than I do from any other method. Don't have full energy but no one needs healing? Scan someone anyway and get your energy back to prepare for the next big hit.
  11. Why do people keep saying Infusion has more throughput than Injection? Do you mean in the sense of healing per second? I ask because its healing range is lower than Injection's, and since it requires TA - of which we can only have 2 - it seems silly to talk about healing per second for Infusion. Yes, it is faster and slightly cheaper on energy. No, it is not better throughput.
  12. 1. Always have Stim Boost Active. Keep your energy high if at all possible. If this is not possible, make early use of Adrenaline Rush and try to recover with at least half energy. This will get easier, even in the face of BAD play by group members, as you level up and get Kolto Probe and Surgical Probe. 2. Diagnostic Scan, fully skilled. Surgical Probe use instead of Kolto Injection. Stim Boost. 3. Yes, and I often do this, but you must be mindful of enemies that have short range AoEs. It's not worth the occasional backstab if you end up having to waste energy on yourself instead of your tank. Your rifle shot has a great range and doesn't deplete your energy reserves. So: situationally, melee range is fine. 4. Stand behind your target. Remember to hit your buttons? Don't waste too much energy pretending you're dps and hurt your regen when you need to heal. Seriously, though, here's a nice melee opener if you don't need to keep your Sleep Dart target incapped: use sleep dart, then Eviscerate/Head Shot that mob. 5. I haven't taken cover since level 10. 6. Snipe. I did use Explosive Probe once, so I guess I did take cover (crouch, to be precise) at some point after level 10, but even that was before level 20. 7. Overload shot. All my other dps abilities, not counting grenades, use my knife. Well, I do often use Headshot instead of Eviscerate but that's a toss-up. 8. This is entirely up to you and depends largely on the keybinds you like to use or, egads, if you are a clicker. I'm lefthanded and use a very specific layout so I can't say more.
  13. That is a pro, not a con. Our class is all about energy management and proper timing. Dropping below 50% energy really cuts into your resources, so you have to find ways to work around it. If your group isn't helping you by failing to focus fire or standing in the fire so they all take damage at once, it's not your fault. If the game gave you the mechanics to easily recover from those types of situations, healing would be so easy that all sense of accomplishment would be gone. Now, if we find we actually don't have the tools to handle appropriate-level situations with good play and competent teammates, then we do have a problem. I just have not seen any evidence of this.
  14. And fourth on Taris. So we wait a long time to get a third, but then suddenly have four before we know what to do with them.
  15. What kind of RP locations are you looking for? Cantina RP has a particular vibe, and while it may be great for some things it does prevent many other types of RP.
