  1. I concur! For me the most annoying thing is that we see all this cool new stuff, but if you, like me, play like 99% on Republic side, you don't really have the mirrored ability names remembered.. So you sit there and go "is thaaat this and this ability or?".. Just do the last two streams with Republic side first with the thorough explanation of things with the republic names!..
  2. That's exactly what I'm thinking it should be. I've also read several times on these forums that people are sometimes "scared" to join operations or even flashpoint groups, because they don't think they are good enough.. If these tests are designed well enough to actually test the player correctly, then passing them may make more people willing to go out there and socialize in their MMO .. Taking it to the next level, Bioware could even gate the Operation GF with these achievements. So we don't even need some gear check thing.
  3. I really despise this challenge.. Even the best geared and most skilled healers on the planet can fail this if the crit RNG gods decide not to produce a single crit for either healer.. Which happens more often that you would think. Luckily you really only need to pass the 1st one. Anyways.. For my rotation I go cleanse/dodge, Kolto cloud, Pugnacity, Kolto Probe, UWM until out of energy, then coolhead and back to uwms and pray for a crit.. If unlucky, spam emergency medpacs until challenge finishes.
  4. I know full well that even this is not a complete stamp of quality for a given player being able to do ops. But the game population currently use achievements as the only way to vet a persons ability to complete content. That an their amount of health.. And good players know very well that a skilled player with 28k health will out dps a bad player in full 180 comms ~40k health gear, but for some reason the 40k player will be picked over the 28k player every time. Personally I could easily link my Council NiM kill achievement and get a spot in a Hardmode pug as a dps, but I suck hard at playing a dps, and therefore the NiM achievement really says nothing of my quality for that position. That's why this system would serve as just a slightly better way of telling if you can perform your specific task.. To make it even better they could make the achievements pr. AC.. So people could ask you to link your Gunslinger Hard dps achievement as an example.. The reason why people ask people to link Operation achievements, is because they have been burned too many times by people who seem content to play by just pressing 1,1,1,1,1,1 while standing in stupid.. And when asked to perform an interrupt they ask "A what? I don't have that".. We have ALL seen these players I'm sure.. I've even been in guild with people who are very very motivated to go on operations, but they simply did not understand very basic gameplay concepts.. These achievements would at least serve to educate this type of player. And for the good players, it's the easiest thing in the world to get these on a fresh 55 and start gearing up.. We all still need at least a minimum of gear to use in guild runs. And if they level a completely new role, they can test themselves out just to see if they have the basics right.
  5. So sometimes as a fairly skilled player you can get stuck today with regards to getting into either hardmode/nim pugs, or guilds running higher end stuff. Everyone asks people to "link the achievement", so newer players can struggle to ever get there. THey can't link the achievement until they do it, and they can't do it until they link the achievement ..Catch 22. So this would be a way of proving your player level for operations but as a single player. So inspired by the Raptus challenges, why not make people able to get certain linkable achievements in single player instanced "challenges".. Basically I am imaging a small part of the fleet with 3 entrances with a small console outside. You go to the dps, heal or tank portal, click the console and set the level you want. They could be named normal, hard, nightmare. When you enter you get a challenge suitable to the difficulty you picked.. So to make the SM challenge you HAVE to put out 1500dps to kill a mob inside. Hardmode is perhaps 2300 dps with an interrupt. Nightmare could be 3000 dps with interrupt and movement. Just as an example.. Heal challenges could be just like the Raptus one. Keep something alive, with cleansing and movement as difficulty progresses. Tanking could include keeping a mob alive while doing taunts, threatdumps etc. And with a turret doing some amount of threat that you're not allowed lose aggro to. The challenges should be tuned to be just a few percent harder than what is ACTUALLY needed, so that people are actually capable of doing it in a fight. All of this should be linked to achievements that seems to be the defacto stamp of approval in the game currently.. And Bioware could continually tune them to higher and higher gear requirements, and add achievements to follow ofcourse. Everyone can stand on their ship and wait for "that lucky parse", but it's still not linkable as "proof".. And you don't get the "I can do 4k deeps!", but when you get them in your group they struggle to breack 1k, people. Guilds can make people train on their own if they are struggling with rotations under pressure.. So actually getting the achievement IS a stamp of quality and not just time spent.
  6. They are still out there.. You could try to look at the Progression Tracking http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=746116 Although that is not at all a comprehensive list of active NiM capable guilds out there, it's a decent starting point. Besides that you can spend a few evenings announcing on fleet that you're looking for a progression group and see if someone bites. Lastly you can look through the recruitment forums here.. I found my spot in a NiM group recently like that.
  7. I have healed as every type and with every type.. The only measure I have is if I feel relaxed with the other healer.. I have healed with bad healers, and even simple fights can get unnecessarily hard to heal with a bad healer.. Another annoying thing when playing with a bad healer, is that they NEVER seem to cleanse stuff that can be cleansed. Healing with a Sage is fine, as long as they know how to play the class properly (as with any class).. I have healed with number ***** Sages, and they tend to very quickly struggle with force and me having to heal them up after they stand there trying to NS themselves up again.. All healers can shoot themselves in the foot with poor energy management, but Sages do take the biggest hit imo..
  8. So your ops groups dtps is 8400 approx. in hardmode, and you're telling me that's normal? Please do link ANY NiM or even HM boss kill parse where you do 8k/4k hps/ehps.. I can do 4k ehps on something like Bastia or Tyrans NiM, but that's not with 8k hps.
  9. And news on the upcoming expansion? Swtor 3.0 or whatever it'll be.. When will that then come out? I couldn't really care less about the Stronghold.. It would be funny to see a metric about how many visit their Stronghold less than 2 times a month.. I'll probably visit mine a whole 1 time.
  10. Then the other healer(s) in the group must really be bad, or your execution of the fights are off.. Or you actually mean HPS and not Ehps..
  11. I seriously don't think the problem is that bad.. Sure sometimes you run into someone pressing need on everything in a low level FP.. But usually it's because they don't know better, and if they fail to respond in chat and you don't want to kick and wait for replacement, well then the comms for completing it is likely worth at least the same as a lost piece of gear.. Comms enabling you to get BiS levelling gear constantly removes a lot of the "ninja frustration". So then there are story mode ops, where the term "ninja" is probably the most used... In swtor there is NOTHING class specific that is a rare drop.. You know exactly where you can get a certain piece, and if you have more than one toon at 55 you often have more than 1 chance per week to get it.. It's simply how this game is designed.. Most people run multiple characters, and thus when you need to gear someone in SM gear to get started at 55 you ofcourse try to get as many chances as you can.. If that means running DF SM 16 man with 4-5 other lvl 55 toons with decent gear, then so be it.. Being overgeared makes the fights easier for everyone, in turn making the gear rolls come quicker. And we have the legacy gear to transfer setpieces around in our legacy. The alternative is people dragging a set of crap gear with them to not be labelled Ninja when rolling Need, which is detrimental to the entire group. So in my perspective, there is no such thing as ninja looting in story mode ops in this game. I spent 2 years playing by the "old" rules of not needing if not needing on the character you were on.. But the amount of gear I saw being "ninja'd" was enormous, and when I then switched to a toon I wanted to gear, I was not allowed to come due to being "undergeared".. So catch 22 right there.. So relax, roll need if you have ANY use for it at all, and be happy.. If you lose a roll, try again next week or on the next toon in line.. With the time between new gear sets currently, I guarantee you will be fully SM geared before something new comes.. In hardmodes the rules I've met lately is simply "1 piece of setbonus gear, relic or mainhand" pr. person.. No matter the current class or gear.. Simply because people would rather play with well geared people than undergeared people.. If someone Ninjas a piece more in there it'll be the last time they are in a group with those people, and they know it..
  12. So with Makeb you announced it almost a year ahead of launch.. I sincerely hope we are less than a year from next expansion, or whatever it is 3.0 will bring. So here comes the question.. Should we SWTOR fans tune in to the EA conference at Gamescom, or could we care less about it?.. Or should we tune into some other time at Gamescom perhaps? If not at all, then in which timeframe do you expect to be able to make an announcement? Before Christmas?
  13. It all sounds well and good, but you people at Bioware need to announce something soon, and it better not be "releases early 2015", since that always means late 2015.. There needs to happen something major soon!!! Cartel Market and Cartel Market features like Strongholds are NOT content..
  14. I would like our new big piece of "content" to NOT rely on stuff bought from the Cartel Market... Can you do that?.. Otherwise I'd just like my own Cantina Band..
  15. True.. It can be a little annoying.. Personally I just kinda keep track of the timing.. I know I can keep the hot rolling on 8 people with a few instants thrown in now and then.. If I need to throw a few big heals, I know I won't have time to refresh the last people in the "rotation", but it's rarely an issue. If you do flashpoints and only have 4 people to hot, you have plenty of time to do stuff between each refresh.
