  1. An interesting read and well presented but... Does anyone else find it odd that most of the "references" were to the man's own papers? Seems somewhat unprofessional of an academic to recycle his old ideas as support for his new ones. Why bother referencing at all if you're only referencing your own work?
  2. This. The strikes have a wider array of build options than any other class. Making them viable would open so much game play and depth.
  3. When you change your character's name, does the new name update on other people's friend lists? Thanks in advance.
  4. One possibility in this regard might be an armor option, exclusive to strikes, that reduces the impact of Ion shots.
  5. Just coming back after a few months off... Did they ever fix sabotage probe not locking the target's steering?
  6. No offense friend but why not just start a new thread on this rather than necroing three old ones?
  7. I'm sorry but I stand by my original statement. At this point I consider the threat of exiting PvP subs to be rather toothless. It has been three years and the servers are still online without any significant change to the PvP system. If the PvPers have deserted en mass it has not had enough of an impact on the game's bottom line for Bioware to consider it a problem. I'm not saying don't voice your grievances or vote with your dollar. I just don't think any change will be motivated by the idea that a lack of PvP subs will cause the game to fail. Honestly, at this point I suspect that the Cartel Market is generating more money than the sub base anyway.
  8. Not that I disagree with you about the group finder, but it's really an issue of low population. There's nothing Bioware can do about it except cross server queues. Unfortunately, that ship has not only sailed but been sunk by an iceberg and had it's wreck filmed by James Cameron. Regarding deserting subs... I'm afraid that three years into this system that argument lacks teeth.
  9. As has been stated there's never been a proper explanation for this. However, judging from context (particularly looking at Star Trek II) shields protect a ship from outright destruction or severe hull damage like getting a warp nacelle blown off. However some energy from the attack can bleed through and affect onboard systems.
  10. Gratz on a thread title that demands attention.
  11. I tend to agree. My real issue is with the perception problem that's causing people to not even try after I've been in the queue for over an hour.
  12. There needs to be a statement from BW as to whether this is bugged or not. Right now the perception seems to be that its bugged, encouraging pugs to drop from the group if this flashpoint pops. Given the length of the queue for DPS, having a 25% chance of getting a hard mode flashpoint that is impossible to finish (either because it's bugged or people drop because of the perception that it's bugged) is unacceptable.
  13. Bumping this in the hopes that we can get a definitive answer on whether or not this is a bug since there's been no word from BW (that I know of, if there has been please link it). I've had groups fall apart right away because "it's the bugged one." Given that this FP currently represents one quarter of our HM group finder at level 60 and the length of the queue for DPS it would be very nice to know if this is in fact broken and if so are there any plans to fix it.
  14. The original preorder page says you get early access if you ordered by November 2nd and the recently posted patch notes say you get it if you ordered before November 2nd. Having ordered on November 2nd I'm a bit concerned. Can anyone tell me if I'll have access to SoR tomorrow?
