Long-dead topic I know, but this is exactly why gay people eek specifically LGBT-friendly guilds. They don't have to have a majority LGBT membership, but they need to make it clear right from the beginning that what happened above is not acceptable and have officers who are prepared to intervene. I am delighted to say that the majority of players seem to have no problem with LGBT people. But only a minority would actually speak up when derogatory comments are made. That is the case in most guilds. To those who remain silent, thinking "It's not my place to intervene" I would say: If they do not cause you even to speak, protected by the anonymity of the internet, of what value are your principles? So yeah. If you start a guild and intend it to be LGBT-friendly, you have to say so.

Well, now that gay marriage is legal in the States, the UK and Ireland as well as across much of Europe, and now that the expansion with SGR options has been out for a couple of months, I am assuming that Glowrod (s*****r) and the others who were so mortally offended by the prospect of SGRs have stopped playing the game. This leaves me free to confine myself to saying, "Thank you, Bioware, for including SGRs in the expansion. You have enhanced my gaming experience. The expansion has a great story, and I've really enjoyed it."

RP is when you interact with other players In Character (IC) - in other words you say to them what your character would say. This tends to be done in public areas such as cantinas. A sure sign that people are engaged in RP is that instead of speaking on /General, they are using /Say, so their conversations aren't broadcast across the whole planet. In theory, you can join in any RP in progress, but in practice it can be tricky - look for an RP thread for more information. And for goodness sake, most of the posters on thus thread, stop being such RP snobs! Who cares what a character's name is unless it's offensive? If you don't want to RP with them, ignore them. Speeders on Fleet don't go into RP areas, so what's the problem? Most non-RPers, when asked politely, will stop disrupting an RP in progress. How about instead of judging and ignoring newbies, who may not have understood what and RP server is and might in addition be trying to play the game in a foreign language, you encourage them in a friendly manner to join in, show them what they are missing and generally enhance their gaming experience? Not suggesting you do it all the time, of course, but to read some of your posts you'd think that RP was somehow a sacred trust and that interlopers should be stoned to death. This is a GAME. Get a grip! Swallow your annoyance, hit ignore, and let people get on with having fun their own way.

Hi everyone, Gay man checking in. If you see a Jedi Consular on Progenitor running around topless, it's me in my energy armour. Really pleased to see all the friendliness and general fluffiness on this thread. I'm thinking of starting a mainly LGBT but straight-welcoming guild. Especially for RP and PvE. (in RP I've been in a small minority, and it would be fun to have a pinker crowd). Big shout out to all who've checked in. MTFBWY and all that.

I never wanted to get into an MMORPG. I avoided WOW. I bought this game because EA took flak for including same-sex storylines. A blaze of glory in the media and FB. Now they seem to have quietly dropped it. This makes me very cross indeed. False advertising, etc. Particularly irksome is the fact that they sideline this discussion and just ignore the requests for information. It's like being in the closet. An online dont-ask-don't-tell. Shame on you, Bioware and EA. Shame!
