  1. Well, truth to be told, the point about getting to lvl 50 and then judging your healing was not argued very well or politely, but it needed to be made. The reason for it is expertise, which on current gear gives ca 20%+ bonus on damage and damage resistance and only 10% bonus to healing. Since there is almost no expertise to be gained prior to lvl 50, you have no way of ascertaining the impact of this discrepancy between healing and damage bonuses. As far as the person who claims they run WZs regularly with 4-5 guildmates, it might be worthwhile to approach anything else he/she has to say with mild suspicion, since running a 5-6 man premade is impossible, so the person is either wildly exaggerating, or there is some other reason behind this statistical anomaly (like a very limited player pool, which would naturally have an impact on their gaming experience) Now do not take me wrong, I do not believe that sorc class is completely broken or that sorc healing spec deserves all the whining it gets (frankly, it is the most viable spec in pvp for sorcs), but I believe that the OP really does not have enough information to judge this issue.
  2. Some very good points there argure, just 2 things. Lightning build can not double dip LB, force lightning has a cooldown. I hybrid/Madness spec i´d use recklessness on Lightning Barrage instead of DF and CD, especially in a single target situation. The situation changes with a greater number of targets.
  3. It is a part of the list of immunities. Vengeance jugger is utterly immune to every form of control for full 8 seconds, which is why I find this opponent problematic and thank god that most ppl still want to see those big aoe numbers so they do not bother with this spec.
  4. Yes, that would be the natural reaction which would make you waste two cds, since vengeance jugger is fully immune to any ccs and movement impairing effects during and 4s after leaping.
  5. As far as I know, after Leap they are immune to all movement impairing effects, including snare and grenade slow (and I otherwise love my 3min cs aoe 70% slow), but I might be wrong. I completely agree on the exploding bubble, it is unfortunate, because otherwise it would be an amazing skill. As far as Force Speeding to LoS is concerned, the Jugger against which I practice saves his cc exactly for this moment and makes me either waste my cc break or just stand there like an idiot in force speed. I disagree on fake casting, that CD interrupt was one of the few times when I have managed to get him under 50% HP, since I could fire the whole relic, adrenal, recklesness lightning barrage combo without interrupts. Needless to say, he has not made the second mistake a second time. Now I'm better of just fake casting FL. And aoe kiting, for some reason it seems that in SWTOR you can drop aoe directly behind you, including grenades and casting slow behind you does not require too much turning midjump, so I'd have to say I had a bit of practise in this. The main reason why I asked this question is that frankly, there is almost nothing you can do to a well played vengeance juggernaut in a situation where you need to stay close to a certain spot (ie duel or guarding an objective), which is the reason I think the class needs to be altered to either to give us a bit more staying power by means of high cd dmg mitigation or some form of burst dmg, since we are sorely lacking in these two areas.
  6. I play a lightning/madness hybrid. Heal while ravage will not work, since I would have to pray for a crit and still would not heal for half the damage that causes. The reason why a mentioned a juggernaut in vengeance is that a friend of mine plays it and I find it to be the most frustrating opponent to kite. Thank you for that exhaustive post, I really appreciate it, but I have naturally tried everything that is mentioned (with the exception of the heal) + chemical sludge grenades, applying DoT when whirlwinded, fake casting CD or FL to be able to pull off the Relic + Recklesness combo, slowing and forcespeed kiting around a building and the best result I could get was throwing him down to 50% Hp. What you also need to realise is the fact, that his force push refreshes his jump, which in turn gives him a double duration of his immunities, which gives him 10seconds during which it is almost impossible to do anything against him, especially if he is good and keeps his stun in reserve for the moment I try to force speed out of reach.
  7. Won by the skin of your teeth? The enemy team had 8 kills and more leavers than I can count, did not plant a single charge and you planted your first with 5 mins 22secs to go. Your 500k healing is nice, but considering the dmg the opposing team did, they probably did not even try and focus you. Hardly something to brag about, especially in a topic where someone's intention is to share his expertise with the rest of us, clueless nubs
  8. Well, without any attempt at causing a flame, I could really use help in a situation where you get charged by a skilled vengeance specced jugger, then pushed and charged again. Please explain how you would deal with this particular situation.
  9. Thanks for the reply and for the sorc compendium
  10. Just wondering, is the op listing some BW announced class changes that i missed somewhere or is it just a suggestion? In any case, of this came true, it would be a game changer for sorcs.
  11. You may have hit the nail on the head. So what exactly are the objectives in the pvp zones? Huttball - Cary the ball to the enemy base. Yes, sorcs do shine in this Wz, although no more than juggernauts of tank bounty hunters, who also have a lot of utility usable in this particular game. This is also the reason why I love huttball, because it offers a lot of room for tactics, strategy and cooperation and allows a small team to dominate the game even if the rest of the team does nothing. Denova coast - The target hear is to kill the enemy forces at the capture point to allow you to take it and you need either good burst damage or survivability to achieve this. Sorc has none of these. All the utility and kiting abilities are useless, since you need to stay at a rather small area and I'm slowly getting tired of running circles around the buildings. Void star - The target hear is to kill the enemy forces at the capture point to allow you to take it and you need either good burst damage or survivability to achieve this. There are the short periods when running between phases where sorc utility can serve amazingly well in slowing down the opposing team, essentially securing a free bomb or two, but these phases are relatively short compared to the gate mash up. Civil war - The target hear is to kill the enemy forces at the capture point to allow you to take it and you need either good burst damage or survivability to achieve this. See what I mean? When we try to play true to our class, we are at a serious disadvantage in 3 out of 4 war zones. It is really frustrating trying to remain at the objective while trying to kite at the same time and interrupting attempts at capture. I find myself dying quite often simple due to the fact that in order to win against the other person I would have to abandon the objective and this is the reason why I believe the sorc class might need some other form of burst than relic + recklessness every 2 minutes and even then you only get burst if you do the full force lightning channel, which is rather counter-productive for a class that dies immediately once it stops moving.
  12. Yeah, I have to agree with the above posters. In a minute there will be someone claiming that sorcerers are overpowered because they pull great total numbers in PvP matches. He will not even realise that in pvp it is not important to have a great total, it is to kill a target with as little damage as possible, while sorcerers with our lack of burst can cause 100k dmg to a single target and never kill it, which makes for some beautiful numbers on the end screen. Naturally, this oversimplifies matters and dotting everything that moves also helps, but the point needed to be made.
  13. I have to disagree with the above. Sorcerer is really an extremely squishy class with no damage mitigation cds (and for the one person intending to mention bubble, it is not damage mitigation and is done in 1hit from most dps classes). On the positive side, sorc has a lot of utility and escape mechanisms, which help against some classes. Depending on your spec, you need to obtain access to snare, either through 31 points in madness or a talent in the middle of the lightning tree that ads snare to your overload. Naturally, this only helps in some cases, as assassins have force shroud and juggernauts in vengeance are immune to any form of cc full 4 seconds after leap. Those 4 seconds are quite often enough to get you killed and there is not much you can do about it at the moment (so no, the problem is not necessarily between the keyboard and the chair). Skilled assassin can also rip you apart without you being able to do much about it. For these reasons, you need to resort to thinking ahead. Do not be in places where you can encounter enemy stealthers. Do not be in places where you are an obvious target. Do not use force lightning before you have DoTed every single enemy there is, force lightning is a very nice way of saying: Look at me, here I am in my Squishiness, come get me. While dotting, hug pillars, corners or any other objects you can use to break line of sight. Mostly useless cybertech offers a wonderful grenade that awards an insane aoe 70% slow for 8 second every 3 minutes. Abuse it. And most important, avoid 1v1 situations. You do not have the burst or survivability to win against similarly geared/skilled opponents, so just don't even try unless you have to.
  14. You sir, think yourself a great sorc player and do not even understand the limitations of your own class? Total damage done is a really nice number, yet it really means nothing, since without the burst you are unlikely to kill anyone. Have you ever tried to duel any class? If they are at least semi competent, you will lose or just run out of the duel zone while trying to kite them. And you frustrating juggernauts/their republic counterpart? Guess they were not specced in vengeance or you'd be singing a different tune.
