So... I read that DB Weiss and David Benioff (of Game of Thrones fame) are going to be developing a new series of Star Wars films, which are absolutely great news on their own, in my opinion. However, when reading this article the piece on info that really stood out to me was this: "According to the release, the films will be distinct from the traditional “saga” films, as well as Johnson’s new trilogy. Other than that, details like time frame and setting are being kept quiet. (On today’s earnings call, Disney CEO Bob Iger simply said that the duo are “focused on a point in time in the Star Wars mythology and taking it from there.”)"
Could it be they will be developing a set of movies during the Old Republic time period? I don't want to hope too much, but I always felt that I like more of the Star Wars universe than what I see in the games than on the movies. For me, the concept of Star Wars have been too limited to the Skywalker storyline and time period. A whole galaxy of planets, Force users and ancient history, and we're always hearing the same stuff about Darth Vader and Luke? I mean, great characters overall, but it's time for something else and Old Republic would be awesome.
