  1. Those wild, unfounded speculations were shot down early in the game's lifetime. The voice actors aren't the huge expense you make them out to be. You also wildly exaggerate the amount of time it takes to record and include voice actors as well...
  2. Not sure why you continue to fight this argument. Even you understand that people don't want the character voice acting to go away, and as most have pointed out, it would not only DRASTICALLY water down the game interactions as we saw in KOTFE/ET, but losing the voice acting would NOT change the cadence of release nor magically expand the amount of class-based content. It's just a bad idea and would be an actual stake in the heart of the game. Best to just let this one go.
  3. Dropping PCVA would also be dropping any incentive I would have to sub or play. They've already deprived us of the majority of companions ever saying anything (sort of mute zombie mannequin companions) but if my alts stop speaking too then it means we're back to the interaction from KOTFE/ET and I'm out of here.
  4. You're one of those "blame the victim" people. You can skirt the issue all you want or quote the ToS. None of that can disguise the shady practice of delaying a game a week before the launch date and barely two weeks after announcing the launch date. It was clearly done to trick people into subbing in December. Practically NONE of the people complaining think that postponing the release was a bad idea. It's just obvious that BW knew it wouldn't be ready when they announced... but waited until the week before to bolster December's sub numbers.
  5. The mature make posts that rightly claim that waiting until one week before the release - and less than three weeks from the release date announcement - is shady business that prompted people to subscribe when they would not have normally subscribed. That's called "cash grab." The immature try to blame the people who feel swindled out of their sub money by saying "they paid for a sub and that's what they got," completely failing to comprehend that the large majority of people deciding to pay for their sub NOW were doing so because 7.0 was about to drop. Given the minimal time frame between announcement and release there should have been high likelihood that the release would NOT be pushed. I'm GLAD they're giving it more time. But the announcement in mid-November should have been about the push to February. That it wasn't - when they knew the state of the release and the likelihood it wouldn't be ready - is what is prompting the understandable and justifiable outrage of people who timed their subscription to coincide with the release.
  6. The fact that you are unsubbed makes your defense of the Devs regarding the timing of their announcement disingenuous at best because YOU are unaffected. I unsubbed earlier in the year because the game was becoming a grinding chore. What little new content was released couldn't even be played with someone else like the original story missions. So it was time to give it a rest. I resubbed last week after the release date was announced so I could write down all the keybinds/powers of alts to figure out where the new versions of combat style powers would go. Then BAM - only one week before release, it's postponed. Hey, I'm fine with it getting pushed back (like you, I doubted it would be ready) but they JUST announced the release date LESS THAN THREE WEEKS AGO. Having worked on high pressure projects with a lot of moving parts, I know that being less than one month away from release the team would know whether they stood a chance to make it. If they're pushing it back with just one week to go, that means THEY KNEW. They knew last week. They knew the week before. The only reason the date was announced when they had little confidence it could be realized was to - in essence - TRICK people into resubscribing right before the date. End of November should have been the cut off for the push back announcement they KNEW they would have to make. Waiting this long was a clear cut subscriber grab. Now their December numbers are still boosted even though they won't deliver the product that people re-subbed to get... and KNEW they COULDN'T deliver it well before then. But pushing it back in November would have cost them thousands of dollars in new or re-upped subscriptions. So, honestly, you saying you're sure this announcement wasn't done with a dishonest intention when it doesn't even affect you is as shady as their "surprise" and "angst" over having to make it.
  7. Again, you're just wrong. This type of cross-genre symmetry is what Disney and every other company with well-known IPs live for. These two titles don't COMPETE with each other, they support each other. They don't steal money from each other, they act as advertising for each other. If you understood marketing and advertising, you'd know that.
  8. You are 100% wrong about this. In fact, Disney LOVES multiple Star Wars content coming out at the same time if it's in different genres (as in Book of Boba Fett is a TV show, SWTOR is a computer game) because then the SW content actually supports and promotes the other genres. People see the Boba Fett show and want to play as a Bounty Hunter and LOOK! SWTOR just released 7.0 so new people (or old unsubs) flock to see it. It's Marketing 101.
  9. I'm not upset that the release of 7.0 was pushed back. I am disappointed, however, that the announcement about it was only done at the last minute. Only one week from launch? There is no way that the Devs didn't know weeks earlier that they wouldn't make the deadline, so why wasn't this announced earlier? Answer: to get at least one extra month of sub time from people who would unsub (or already had unsubbed) until 7.0 comes out. I resubbed the first of December to take stock of all my alts (powers, keybinds, etc.) so I would be ready for all the changes to the powersets (and to know what keybinds other alts used for different "combat styles" so I could map those to characters taking on a new style. Well, congrats to me, I get to eat at least one month extra sub time where it was definitely known by the end of November that 7.0 would not be ready to launch on time. Take whatever time is needed to make 7.0 right - but please stop milking the subscriber base by not being honest and forthright in advance of these announcements so the players can make informed decisions about their subscriptions. Bad Form, Bioware.
  10. Well, how do you get to be forum mod then? I didn't vote for them...
  11. I will disagree. I would rather have new interactive/story rich content featuring our tried-and-true companions than constantly have new characters thrust upon us as the ONLY character we get - especially because we get the SAME new temp companion on EVERY alt we play on each side. It's like being forced to babysit your little brother when you could have at least one of your friends join along. I have ZERO connection to these new folks... I don't mind if they're there to add extra info or flavor but we had two comps in this latest solo FP, so gameplay-wise we should be able to bring OUR chosen companion along in addition to the new flavor companion. That said - from your scenario I would prefer "boring" new content if I get to bring MY companion. Being force-fed (see what I did there?) these new unknown folks at the expense of the companion of my choice is bringing me to the inevitable conclusion of turning my back on the game. Don't wanna do that.
  12. They obviously can control the strength of the enemies in the content. That said, I would MUCH rather new story content be too "easy mode" but I get to use the companion of my choice than be force-fed ONLY "new" temporary companions that subvert my choices, costuming, history, etc.
  13. I'm not sure what the point of getting new companions is when we don't get to ever play new content with the companion of our choice (or even with a friend along, the way it used to be.) I'm not sure why I can't choose my favorite companion and have the content companion just be a tag-along. I don't even get to fly "my" ship to any of these encounters, just a generic dump of a ship that "I" wreck half the time (even though that isn't what my character would do). Just make the tag-along generic companion less powerful (or not) and there for flavor and let us bring the companion we've spent so much time creating an in-game familiarity with. The only content our own comps are good for is OLD replay material and even then they're as mute as storefront mannequins. I'm hoping that somehow the big anniversary opens up (or re-opens) companions as viable story components... and for goodness sake, can they FINALLY start moving their mouths when they talk like they used to? Just more things that continue to remove the player from any kind of immersion. (Le Sigh)
  14. Wasn't one thread enough to ask this question but you had to make two?
  15. There's a somewhat easier way to do this without having to buy TWO rename tokens. You'll only need one, but you'll need two open character slots on the destination server. 1) Create new character on Destination server that is the same name as Transferring Character's Current Name. 2) Transfer character to Destination server. Since a character with that name already exists there, you'll get a free name change. Don't use it yet. 3) Buy name change token for character with Desired Name. 4) Use token and change Desired Name character to another name of your choice. 5) Immediately switch to Transferred Character and use the free name change to assign the Desired Name. 6) Name change complete!
