  1. Its been stated time and time again why they didnt do this, it boils down to them feeling that flying through empty space, doing nothing or taking ages to get from point A to B(and if you say that wasnt the case, you have never played xwing or tie fighter or vs because was alot of it). I'm going to side with BW here...the current space combat is a nice mini-game its very much like old rebel alliance games(god i hope thats the name...i forget what it was called) and it does that well. If you dont like space missions dont do them... also pretty sure this is a necro post <<
  2. funny my friend was excited for cathar untill he saw the skin and was like " wow thats hideous..." and dunno if he's even gonna bother now.
  3. zoom into first person view, walk into the speeder/holo since they have no substance, and click on the vender... its pretty easy to avoid this kind of silly behavior in this game at least.
  4. so you want /snore boredom combat? i'm sorry but TOR's combat is horrible... its dated... and its not why most of us are playing TOR. Anyone that tries to say tor's combat is good has either never played a good action mmo, or a blatant fanboy., or just hate action games(plausible). Personally i love TOR's story, and setting but beyond that the game is very much lazy feeling. Not alot of action involved...moving tends to be just to avoid aoe's since cant really dodge things. Most of the game is spent standing in one place spamming 12345 in a set pattern. Compare that to a game like DCUO or Tera, and you really wonder... why you are playing this game...hell even GW2 combat is leagues ahead of TOR. In TOR's defense, it was designed long before those games became popular, but this tends to be the #1 reason many of my friends ended up leaving the game. The combat engine is just dull, and they arent all as enthralled with the story as i am. Combine that with a lack of good content and you end up in a bad spot... right now this game is doing as well as it is for 1 reason... its Star Wars.
  5. more likely that the race is purcahseable on the market, but can also be earned in game through a rep grind. Because limiting to the market only would infuriate the f2p players while only in game might annoy some of those would pay $$$ for it. From experience it seems more likly that it will be attainable via in game rep grind, or just buying it.
  6. I've played MMO's since the days of UO and i have very rarely looked up videos online. In fact only times i've done this a grand total of maybe two times, and almost always because the boss gave us issues in game and we wanted to figure it out. This all comes down to people wanting to never wipe, not wanting to fail, and really wanting to progress and nothing else. While that is fine and dandy... not everyone is like that and i know i certainly dont care if my group wipes. Then again my old main tank use to say " if you dont wipe its not a good run" why did he say that? because half of the fun of an encounter is learning it, once you learn the fight its pretty much /farm which is dull as sin... However i am actually going to sort of defend the " you should research it " people here. Why? because its way many progression guilds are run. If you dont want to do that sort of thing then find a casual guild, that raids and join them. Every guild will be run differently, and you have to abide by that guilds rules.
  7. what i'd like to see them do, is have a custumization page where you can slot in various animations into differant attacks. For example, could say change scream to have force shocks animation but keeps screams basic damage and effect. Or could change whirlwind to have force choke effect, this kind of thing would let us custumize our sith/jedi way we wanted. Could also tie in dark/light side to them so a lightside SI couldnt use force lightning animation as that would break lore. But a dark jedi could, ect, thats what i'd kill for in this game.
  8. your not doing the bonuses or group content... if you choose not to do heroic areas, you MUST do every bonus, be sure your not skipping quests either... if you do every bonus for each zone you will ALWASY be around 1-2 levels of your quests occasionally might need to pvp a few matches to get a ding i've had this happen once or twice. if your that under leveled you have missed content.
  9. if you ask me i hate level cap increases i kind of wish they'd go the way of EQ with a sort of AA system. That way all old content is still threatening and stuff your doing in later areas are just to get extra talents and such, i mean if you have gear from latest raid sure it'll be a joke but i still feel the old raids should always be there to progress through.
  10. News flash trandos can speak basic... all have to do is apply a filter to the human voice over and done... it really isn't that complicated... and heck most people wouldnt give a damn if they didn't. Ever hear the chiss speak in game? they have a certain tone and sound to there voices to but we don't see a filter on them for our characters either. All in all trando's are fine BIGGER issue is the trando boot/feet problem... i am unsure how bioware would handle that little facet of the species.
  11. i always have to /facepalm when people immediately assume that f2p means pay 2 win because that is usually not the case and the new design for f2p games are pretty well done. D&D online pretty much defined the new f2p game design. Where by CONTENT is locked up to a certain level or area, and you purchase that area to unlock it, so you pay as you go HOWEVER at the same time there is STILL a subscription plan for those that prefer it, and you usually get access to everything in the game via that sub, as well as all new content and almost always free points for the item shop as well. F2P isnt a bad thing but i dont believe tor falls into that category yet... realize that Eq2 has been around a LONG time, and LOTOR was a pretty big failure of an mmo in general thus it went f2p to salvage itself, the same reason that DDO went f2p and both times it revitalized those mmos. Remember that p2p games that go f2p do it to save themselves from bankruptcy or to dig themselves out of a financial hole or to increase over all income, but if your still making substantial profit on p2p model; is no reason to go f2p and i just dont feel TOR is in that area yet. TOR made a grave mistake by not innovating in the combat area... and it is a mistake that alot of mmo's keep making... it is sad but TOR is a solid game but the combat is just pretty damn boring...
  12. i dunno i kind of disagree to this...the major issue was there choice in using an overused system and design, and the fact they chose the hero engine which is really not great for mmos. They made some bad choices BUT it is there first mmo heck bioware seems to hate online play in general sure nwn had it but most of there more current stuff is actually single player with either no multi-player or its tacked on after the fact. My issues with TOR are... Dull Combat we have done in WoW for 7 years... Gear grind is just that a grind it isn't fun nor enjoyable in anyway... Lack of unique species for a starwars game this is pretty big... Crafting ends up being kinda useless... Is no real choice in game...all end the same way regardless of choices... Still balancing issues in leveling game, especially on voss Gear looks terrible and not very starwarsy... Classes being locked per faction this is one of my biggest gripes... where is my imperial trooper? only the jedi/sith should have been locked. SI story being about artifacts rather then manipulation, and sith hierarchy... Could go on and on and while some of it is kind of minor is one issue that basically killed TOR for me and that is the combat. I cant get into the combat...as much as i enjoyed the story and don't get me wrong it was fairly awesome! what was left after that was just so boring... =\ probably return when they do an expansion just for the story aside from that the game was just to bland for me... they did nothing to innovate in combat... and tried to play it to safe. If want to fix TOR first step would be to look at tera and DCUO combat and make something similar to one of those two games. Both have fun and enjoyable combat, that isn't yawning while i click 1111122211131131113 over and over and over again... Edit: btw DON'T take this as a whine post to much, it kind of sounds it BUT really TOR is a solid game i dont see it failing ever... but for me PERSONALLY the game just feels like it was made 5 or 6 years ago... it feels so dated and old.
  13. TOR not failing do to its unrefinedness at launch i'm afraid its failing because it did not innovate in areas that count. It is a fact that old school point and click combat mechanics of WoW are kind of dieing off, its just an old fad that worked in the past because technology was not advanced enough to do more. Games like Tera, GW2 and DCUO have proven that you CAN have a skill based combat system that works, and it actually be a fun game! i mean take Tera for example...take that combat, slap in starwars design and you would have had a KILLER game! heck that game practically SCREAMS starwars combat if you've ever played it you know what i'm talking about! Combat in tor is it's weakest point, just like in the secret world both are GREAT games for story, and themeatics BUT the combat is just so dull and boring and done to death! people want something new! GW2 innovates JUST enough to set it apart in combat department but i still say DCUO and Tera have far better combat systems. Will TOR die? answer is NO it won't die... it has made billions already and more then made up for its production costs, EA has made its money back now however they need to continue to make profits and i can see that being an issue. It is in decline BUT hardcore sci-fi and starwars fans will keep it running for years to come.
  14. As a long time mmo player that mostly solos everything the diffculty can spike in places and i point to overtuning is especially evident on Voss where some mobs will ream you solo. Specificlaly the silvers seem to be an issue, are silvers that do 3x's damage of a gold, and even one spot where 2 spawn and popping every cooldown on my pyro BH did nothing including medipacs, damage reductions everything i didnt even manage to down one of them. People that harp on game being to easy are talking about end game content and tend to be hardcore gamers, forgetting that TOR is more geared toward casuals, and the proof of that is in whole legacy system and promoting alts. As for leveling i feel are spots in TOR still need ironed out, not a matter of gear(i have all blues of my level and my companion in best greens/blues can get, and is a healer! with a 10 second CC!) the mobs are clearly dealing way to much damage and all over voss, and continue into corellia... Aside from that the diffculty probably about right.
  15. 0_o WHO had pretty good pvp, so does rift... others i agree with...
