  1. I've been trying like hell to get an answer regarding what happens if I chose not to tranfer and have had zero luck. All I get is people going "quit asking, you don't have to transfer if you don't want to" which isn't even what I'm asking. Gotta love "helpful" folks. (that's helpful in parenthesis because they are just being obnoxious) I know I don't HAVE to transfer, but I don't know what will happen if I chose not to. Are the servers eventually going to be shut down? Will they be merged? Will theu suddenly decide to try and repopulate some of them? No idea because they won't give out any information. How can I make an informed decision if I don't have all the information. The answer is, I can't. And they have to have some information regarding what happens next, a company this big doesn't just make things up as they go along, they plan ahead. So since Bioware/EA is being as tight-lipped as a corporate VP under investigation for insider trading, I'm saying to hell with it. I'm picking up my bucket and shovel and finding a new sandbox to play in. My characters will rot unplayed on a dead server until the lights go out. You got my $150 from the CE, you got 7 months worth of subscription fees, so jokes on me right? Well enough is enough, you won't get anymore of my money because I've had it.
  2. I live in Illinois as well, and in all the mmo's I've played I've never really noticed a difference in East coast vs. West coast servers as far as latency is concerned. I think the biggest difference is the time zone issue. If you play on the West coast, peak times may end up being to late for you. This is because they are 2 hours earlier than us, so say peak time is 8pm West, then it would be 10pm for us and so if you're playing at 8pm Central, there might not be as many people on because it will only be 6pm for the server. Because of this, I find East coast to be the best choice since they are 2 hours later than us. In my experience people will usually play longer once they get online, but they wont always be on earlier. I hope this helps.
  3. I'm extremely resistant to the idea of a transfer. As it stands if I do it I will, at the very least lose 5 of my character names, inlcuding my main. It's also highly likely (no way to check for sure) I will lose my Legacy name as well. I am very attached to my main's name and surname (as well as my other character names) and I fnd it very distressing to be forced to do this. And before you say "you aren't forced, you have a choice" I have a choice between transfering and losing my character's "identities", or staying and being on a dead server with nobody to go do heroics, FPs and Ops with, and thus not having any reason to keep playing.. Not really much of a choice. It's about as much choice as someone in a burning high rise having the choice of either jumping out the window to their death, or staying and burning alive. Both are unpleasant options. For those that don't care about names, this seems like no big deal, and you have a tendency to say "get over it" or "pick a new name, or add somme ASCII stuff" but there are a lot of people who actually do care about the characters they have developed over 7 months of game play, and this matters to us.
  4. What if you don't want to leave your server? I play on Sanctum of the Exalted and I like it. It's got a nice RP atmosphere, friendly people (when there are actually people on) and I have all the names I want. Today I see that it has been opened up as an available origin server (meaning you can transfer off it). So now rather than having a light population server that needs more people, it's going to be a dead server? Why in the world are you guys making the light population servers available for free transfers off? Wouldn't it make more sense to take the highest population servers and make it so people can go to the lighter population servers to balance out the populations rather than fill only a couple to the brim? Or have subs dropped so low that you only need a couple servers? The current actions will likely decrease already low populations to the point of being deserted, and then what is the next step, mergers? Forced moves?
  5. I can't speak for others, but I not resubbing after my 30 days are up because of the state of the game, not the population. The way I see it, the reason the population is dropping is the vast amount of bugs, glitches, and other gameplay problems. There are a lot of issues that were around in Beta and are still around 6 months after launch. And then there's the horrible customer service. It's a lot easier to tolerate problems if you know customer service has your back and in this case, they do not. The low population is a symptom, not a cause (at least in my opinion)
  6. I almost entered the contest, that is until I read the fine print and found out that if I won, I'd have to pay the shipping costs for that freakin monster. "You won a statue! Congrats! Now please pay several hundred dollars to have it delivered".
  7. Yes, I do. I won't get into a list of all my grievances but I will say that an improvement in the quality of the customer service would go a long way in making me more willing to overlook the many, many bugs, glitches and misc. issues in the game.
  8. I agree in theory, but sometimes it makes no sense. Like the image example I gave of the assault generator...it had shield rating but it wasn't a shield (and since it goes in the slot that either takes a generator or a shield, it's a useless stat). It's stuff like this that is the issue. What they need to do is make it so prefixes are restricted to specific items. Like, a cunning blaster should not get defense, a power generator should not get shield rating, etc.
  9. I understand how it works and all the different prefixes, I never said that I didn't. You've completely missed the point. Take a gander at that link I posted, look at the item and the stats on it, you'll notice there is shield rating on it, but it is not a shield, and yet it fills the slot that a shield would go in, so the shield rating does nothing. Does that seem logical to you? That is the sort of thing I am talking about. (I really thought I was very clear in the OP...why does this always happen?)
  10. The crafting system in this game is extremely frustrating, and I'm not talking about way it's done, I'm talking about the reverse engineering prefix system. What has irked me recently is how I seem to constantly get "Redoubt" (defense stat) on cunning blasters. Defense is a tanking stat and there are no ranged tanking classes or ranged tanking companions that use cunning as a primary or even secondary stat. There is no good reason why it should be an available prefix on that kind of item. Sure some people may argue that "well defense will help keep them safe"...that's a poor argument and you know it. But say you're not swayed and you still think it's perfectly normal to have cunning and defense on a weapon, then take a look at this great example someone linked me not 20 minutes ago in general chat after I vented my frustration ingame. http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/3443/screenshot2012050214250.jpg Take a look and then tell me if you honestly think that the prefix system is fine. Is it really to much to ask that the we only get prefixes that make sense for an item?
  11. This...Didn't know about it at first, and the whole have to do others and wait till next day for next one thing...All I need is the belt now, and I wont be able to get it because of this poorly designed (imo) unlock thing, where you have to wait till the next day to get the next daily in the line.
  12. I can't speak for others, but I started playing on a server that was originally rated at heavy, and over time it slowly dropped to standard. The populations on all the planets seems consistenly dead (20-30 people tops on most worlds, slightly higher during peak times on the low level planets). But that's not the only issue. The lack of customer service and the multitude of bugs and glitches in everything from graphics, abilities and game mechanics combined with the consistently low populace creates a perfect storm of problems that, for me at least, made it not worth it to continue. I canceled my subscription, however I then renewed it before my time was up after seeing all the press regarding update 1.2. But, the update came, and still so many issues remained. Population spiked briefly with the live event, and then dropped again as people lost interest. So I canceled before I got charged and I have no plans to return. My time ran out a few days ago, and I'm actually pretty bummed. I had such high hopes for the game, I even went as far as to buy the CE edition (and had no regrets about it at the time). Some people may love the game, and I did too, I saw all the issues and thought "it's still new, they'll take care of it soon" but as time progressed and things didn't change I lost the faith. I hope it gets better, but until it does I won't be spending my money on it anymore.
  13. Show me a link, just 1 link, that tell you all the stuff the droid carries (other than the picture I linked, which I made, and didn't find elsewhere). I checked, I couldnt find one. Maybe your better at searching than I am because I found nothing other than a vague description.
  14. I NEVER SAID I WANTED TO USE HIM FOR COMBAT! Seriously, what the frack people? If your going to take the time to respond, at least do me the curtesy of reading the goddamn post accurately. Boggles my frackin mind. And your idea of multiple modififcations is clearly different than mine, I read multiple and think different mods, you read it as more than 1 item for sale regardless of what it is.
  15. So it's ignorance to go by the tooltip written by the people who made the game, that tells you what the droid sells. And it's my fault for not assuming it what was written wouldn't be accurate? I see, gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up for me chief.
