  1. Hey Hey Yeah, sounds like I need to dust off my Harbinger character and head on over there
  2. Well it sure isn't Bastion -- apparently the GSF population died there while I was gone.
  3. Unlikely. Very, very unlikely. I would target my guild members first, even if we made a pact over mumble not to attack each other beforehand -- then I would laugh about it. I know they would do the same as well. Many mmos have free-for-all types of gameplay. The basic rule of thumb is that you always go after the most powerful person first. This would be exactly the opposite of current TDM games, where newbies are targeted and mowed down. I would be all for this, it would be fun and (I would think) be somewhat simple to implement in the game. The biggest flaw is that people would just go battlescout to have the best evasion to last until the end, then they would have the best 1v1 ship to finally win But, it would still be fun. Heck, I just flat out want more variety. I would support almost any new game-type.
  4. It obviously would have its flaws, but I support reducing game size. Especially your original statement about 4v4 teams having a better chance at better matchmaking and more fair games. Most TDM games boil down to who can kill the other team's newbie 2-shippers the most to win, while the veterans on each side more or less ignore each other because they know how to fly evasive and avoid being killed quickly. In order for this to work though, 4v4 matches would have to select 8 players of similar level....and given what we know about the current matchmaking system, it would pretty much require a complete overhaul of the system to make it work right.
  5. Ignoring how whiny this sounds, this is really the only valid negative argument to come out of this thread. And you can't say 'L2P, go find some friends, and fight them back!'. What friends? Where are these other good players? The GSF community is shrinking atm. Games are almost always one-sided, and it sucks. Would it be more fun if people split up more often? Probably, yeah. But it's not fair to ask friends to stop playing together just to help the integrity of the game. We need more GOOD players on each server, which isn't going to happen -- which is why we need cross server queuing. Until cross-server, premades are always going to be perceived as evil and these whiny threads will continue. Maybe we should have a GSF server event on The Ebon Hawk sometime in the near future. Like, a real one, not intergalactic bomber day That way they can plan to have all of their good players on at the same time (ideally) to have more competitive games.
  6. I agree, let's reset! I'd like to nominate General Brass. He plays without premade VOIP nonsense, unlike a lot of the so-called 'aces' in this thread.... Now I've never seen him play, and don't have any idea what server he's on. But that's irrelevant.
  7. Retro thrusters on a GS seems very interesting. Hit them with Interdiction missile, fire slug cannon at them -- as they close the distance you can retro thrust away from them to get 1 or 2 more BLC hits in. Sounds deadly, but.... Retro thrusters are great on a SF -- they have some of the highest DPS in the game so having that extra time for getting hits can = more kills. Plus with directional shields, you can usually handle the extra head-on time against an opponent. Retro thrusters are great for a Scout. They also have great DPS and can pop evasive cooldowns to survive extra head-on time. But for a GS? I feel like my SF's heavy lasers would tear through a GS if they tried a retro head on against me. Have to assume they will have distortion field, and it would suck for them to have to blow two of their missile breaks at once just to increase their evasiveness/survivability when using retro thrusters. From a GS hunting perspective, I think I'd rather Gunships have retro than barrel roll.
  8. If you attack somebody and they constantly heal back up to full, and then somebody else comes in and decisively kills them -- they should get credit -- not you because you spent the last 3 mins 'trying' to kill them and getting off lots of shots. Obviously you're talking about more obvious/bogus reasons, but it's next to impossible to distinguish between them. You should just be grateful that the game even tracks assists.
  9. Aww, did somebody rage-quit and leave the match early? Pity party for Renegade-one on 3! 1..............................2................................3....................................... Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww................ There there, it'll be ok. Tomorrow's another day. And hey, Wildstar is out now, so you don't have to worry as much about this game.
  10. Pay to win doesn't just mean that you get access to things that other players don't. It also means you can have access to things 'faster' or 'easier' than other players that don't pay. In that sense, several aspects of swtor, including GSF, are the very definition of pay to win. If I wanted to at this point, I could pay to convert all of my strike fighter req into fleet req to get all of my other ships close to fully mastered. That would give me a significant advantage over somebody who either doesn't want to spend money to do that, or can't. The bigger issue here is that Nemarus is saying he's 'happy' to invest money in GSF, because it shows the devs that the players like it. Piss on that. Nobody should spend money on something in an mmo to try and encourage its further development. Spending real world money on GSF, at this point, would be a complete waste. The devs have all but said that they're focusing on other aspects right now. We won't get any major maps anytime soon. We won't get any new game-types anytime soon. We won't get any new types of ships anytime soon (Infiltrator is all but dead). We probably will never have cross server queues, which is the one thing the game needs the most. Look, I like GSF. It's a great, enjoyable game. But let's not delude ourselves into thinking that using cartel coins will in any way make it better.
  11. #46 Realizing at the last moment that you didn't upgrade distortion field on this ship, and you won't dodge the missile #47 Having to answer the door because the pizza dude showed up mid-way through GSF #48 Blindly following your comrades in Domination while you destroy the opposition, and too late realizing that the enemy capital ship is firing at you
  12. Translation: I spend real world money to make my ship better. I support pay-to-win MMO philosophies. I don't blame you Nemarus, it's not your fault. If you have the money to spend, more power to you. It's Bioware's fault for making the stupid system to begin with that allows people to take advantage of it. I will never support the cartel market, and I will never support a post that encourages its use. Instead of 'pay-to-win', maybe Bioware can use some creativity and use a model like 'play-to-pay'. Oh wait, Wildstar is going to use a 'play-to-pay' model (CREDD). And, it's going to have cross-server Queues at launch! Apparently, Bioware's cartel BS doesn't make them enough money to create something as complicated as cross server queues. Wildstar launch in less than 24 hours. Woop woop!
  13. 500 credits says new players would burn the fleet req on upgrading their rapid fire lasers.
  14. Yea why not, PvE folks get free purples when they hit max level. Fair is fair.
  15. Ironically, I've found that it's somewhat easier to take over satellites held by bombers IF you're in a PUG with new-mediocre players. If you play with other good players, they keep their distance and shoot from afar, which often doesn't work out that well and just takes time. But if you're with a bunch of newbies...they basically serve as mine fodder for you Watch them dive in and soak up the mine damage, then follow and clear the bomber out yourself. These brave souls should get medals in Domination matches for taking the most damage.
