  1. this! 2 days before 99% of my guild unsubbed we tried to do some "friendly" PvP on Ilum and Tattooine. Got quite a few ppl from both sides and the winner was... LAG. And it was like 50 ppl tops on both sides!
  2. finally someone who understands how things work. Some ppl say "it's not worth to augment BM coz I will replace it sooner or later" and IMO it is just plain wrong. Getting "better" gear may mean you will win more often hence you will get your WH gear quicker. Augments and kits are not that expensive anymore and basically, even if you are flat broke now, you can afford 1-2 augments per day just by doing few dailies and PvPing as much as you want.
  3. or maybe the boss just got enraged?
  4. 1000 times this! I cannot Q up for Rateds with guild ppl as they are simply not geared well enough or do not enjoy PvP. Qing with random party, ppl I know crap about or cannot even get on same vent is far worse than pugging normal WZs where I have the chance of meeting another pug group. For those who will say "Get into proper guild" I say: I was in one, BW made them quit the game with lousy management.
  5. So far I did not notice any difference as I usually run with healer companion which is rakate/columni geared but I do have one of my dps companions geared in my old augmented BM gear and she (Risha) is quite devastating in those gank situations. Still I preff Guss for stuns and heals for open worl "pvp"
  6. what's wrong with 7 buttons? Most classes in SWTOR require to use less most of the times. Besides, in GW2 you can switch weapons in combat so that basically gives you access to 8 or more (depending on class/combo skills) fighting skills. IMHO that requires more skill than fixed setup of skills in SWTOR. No game is perfect but the main reason I will try GW2 (already bought it anyway) is the open world PvP which I miss greately since I left Warhammer Online. Not that I don't like SWTOR PvP, I take as it is and have fun but I can imagine how lvl 50 WZs will look like when free players will hit 50. No gear, no chance to grind that gear in reasonable time, baddies. ROFLstompin baddies may be fun for some time, heck, it may be fun even for longer time but I am sure that sooner or later BW will have to introduce some kind of P2Win stuff in shop otherwise they will not make any money. Well, it will start as P2Win basically just because: you pay, you can grind gear faster (or even are able to grind). You all know the mentality of 90% free players. Forums will become sithstorm fest with flaming, insults and stupid questions from ppl who don't even bother to hit SEARCH button. Same in general chat. Now, GW2 betas were no different (any betas I played were like it too) but I do hope that the barrier of buying the game will work to some extent and will filter out scum.
  7. This + if he is really in full Rakata he has 2 pc bonus making Illegal Mods recover energy and he should use Cool Head from time to time (not when you are at 0 energy btw). OP said he is SS specced so Foxhole is a must here. Only reason I can think he runs out of energy in PvE is that he has a pocket tank and a healer so he doesn't ever moves from one spot mindlesly spamming attacks. No offense intended here.
  8. I gave up ranked for 2 reasons: - getting a group is a pain, my guild cannot support full, balanced premade yet - people take Ranked way too seriously. I played my last with random ppl, who invited me btw, we won and after that when I said I need to go I got ***** **** **** ******** ******* as response. You can imagine what it was. If Ranked players show that attitude I have no interest in such thing. Besides, level of "skill" in ranked is not better than in normal WZs. You can fight against total noobs or masters in both.
  9. would be nice if we had those but what I meant is that damage means tad in WZ when you play objectives and try to win WZ and not just mindlessly kill people. I look at K/D ratio just to check how miserable I was or how annoying to opposing team. Still I win most of my matches so it doesnt matter anyway, right?
  10. How it can be strong CD if it actually is really usefull against fellow gunslinger/snipers? I only use it as last resort whne I am about to die anyway and hope it will let me fire one more shot at opponent.
  11. are there expertise augments in game? I think it was posted before in Gunslinger section that cunning/end ones benefit you bit more overall as with 9% extra cunning skill it will give you boost to damage/crit which may be bit better than raw power.
  12. 1. Sharpshooter Gunslinger specced here. I think other classes see us as highly immobile turret like class and highly dangerous if left alone. Point of focus fire at the start of every WZ. In PvE great addition to group DPS but can be a pain when mobility is needed. Most think of us as a squishy target without many or even no defensive CDs or escape mechanism. 2. In PvP mobility is not an issue for me unless fighting greater numbers of good geared players. Energy management in prolonged fights is an issue especially if I need to change position often. All in all I am very happy about my DPS and survability to some extent but I do feel a bit gimped in cramped spaces where I cannot take advantage of (or use even) my range or cover mechanic. In PvE I do feel like a burden to my group when mobility is needed, cover mechanic makes it difficult to stay with/near people I want to be, be it for heals or support. I also do miss some group utility because except for the group shield (which is super awesome btw) I cannot really aid my allies in any way. This leads to the problem of being able to only spec into 3 different pure DPS roles which makes certain content like "not designed" for Gunslingers.
  13. Numbers mean nothing in lvl 50 WZs and 50s =/= below 50s. SS spec is about insane burst and killing not about endless DoTs. If I do 20k dmg on a healed target in few secs it means it dies, if DoTs make 50k damage it may still survive if healed, right? Again, you will notice massive difference in lvl 50 WZs. I can safely assume you will start to suck for quite a while till you get proper grar and change your playstyle dramatically. Still it happens a lot for me to do way over 450k damage in WZ but I stopped looking at this and pay more attention to kill/death ratio.
  14. OK. your first problem is that in DF spec you have the best mobility of all 3 trees and what's why you are subject to more CC. First of all try to stay a bit behind firstline attackers aka "nomal" melee classes and then pick your target while your opponents are busy with someone else. GS will never do well if they attack first.. you know... Dirty Fighting. AS GS/SS spec you must realise and feel the range you have. No point in shooting someone next to you unless it is needed. Target people who do not move towards you or are occupied with someone else. Make use of you awesome AoE (XS Flyby) to interrupt ppl or help teammates in dense fights. Last but not least, sitting for more than 5 secs in one place as SS spec GS is wrong. Despite what many people still think SS spec is not about being a turret. We actually can move a lot and do a lot of damage. You just need to get the feeling of proper rotations (depending on a target and available energy) and energy management. Again it is up to you to not draw much attention. You must pick proper targets. First you should pick targets who you can destroy in 1 rotation or they are occupied with someone else, last someone who may charge at you coz he is not doing anything else atm. Hope it helped a bit.
  15. OK maybe stat wise Recruit gear is garbage but to be honest it is way better than anything you can get before BM just because of expertise. 20ish % damage reduction is what makes up for loosing stats and just because it is % based and not flat value (like you get from raw stats in most cases) it is better. I tend to pug a lot and I always inspect players before WZ starts. In most cases when I am groupped with people with at leasty 800 expertise I can have high hopes for winning a pug WZ. If I see some tank/DPS classes with 20k+ HP and 0 expertise... well they rarely make more than 5 steps out of spawn zone. Full Rakata is awesome for PvE but in PvP it is worthless, or should I say not better than full Recruit gear. Besides if people were smart while gearing up they would not buy the most expensive BM/WH pieces first but slowly gear up while getting better. Few extra augments on recruit gear also helps a big deal.
