  1. Honestly, Qyzen was my best bud. Used him for everything as Infiltration. Yeah, you can use Theran, but then you don't learn to dps properly because you take shadow strike, and managing it's proc, out of your rotation. That's just a bad habit. Also, it's easier to drown out the noises he makes after a kill than if I had one of the humans babbling over and over about "people not about hearing us". Qyzen's a rough and tumble dude with a penchant for sadism that made him a perfect companion for darkside choices. Love my lizard. /high five Qyzen.
  2. Looks like I still have a day or two left to post. I haven't really checked as it's not that important to me. I'll tell you one thing, I resubbed to WoW last night, and 10 min logged in and it was like a breath of fresh air. My gear looked amazing, my animations actually matched my button presses, I hopped back into a bg and the battle was fierce, and I quickly remembered after my first heroic in 2 months that the game engages you in a way SWOTR can't even compare to. You make the mistake of comparing Vanilla to SWOTR release. Of course WoW wasn't polished at the start but it is now, and even at the beginning it was still better. (imo at least) The real problem is why should anyone stay here when there's already a polished game out?. Why should anyone sit around, paying and wait for massive issues to be resolved when even those issues being resolved don't make the game measure up? Come six months, this game won't even be a competitor, much less a threat to WoW. As many people here who go "I'll never go back to WoW", I've already met that many back in WoW who say they'll never go back to SWOTR. You're right. SWTOR IS a good game. But WoW is great. I'm not saying WoW doesn't have problems (I left it for a reason to begin with) but it's superior in almost every way. It took me leaving and coming back to realize it's still the best in the business. I'm loving my rogue, and quite honestly I don't care what happens to this game one way or another. Would be great if it gave WoW some competition, but I truly, honestly don't think it's going to make it that far. I know I won't be back to play at any point now that I've gotten another taste of WoW. Lol, I'm really just here because the WoW forums are down atm. I love forums :] Honestly, I'm not mad, and you're allowed to enjoy the game. People come and go based on their enjoyment level. I don't enjoy the game, and even with massive overhauls, don't see myself enjoying it the future. You're allowed to feel the opposite. Only one thing is really clear: It's a rough market, and anyone who puts out an MMO in the future better be damn sure it's ready.
  3. I don't think enrage timers are useless or even necessarily bad boss "mechanics". However I think if most people stop and think about it, numerical superiority is by far the least interesting and lazy way to make a boss hard. I'd rather have fire to stay out of, a difficult interrupt, or a punishing positional mechanic than a gear check on every boss. What happens is when people are able to hit that timer, it's not all that different from normal mode because you were able to hit the minimum mathematical requirement. You wouldn't even really know something had changed because instead of added mechanics, the bar for what you have to pull was simply set higher. Like I said, not a bad mechanic, but not that exciting either.
  4. You have two active threads about this topic on the same page. Why.
  5. This isn't really fair. Why should people continue to pay for a shoddy product in hopes that their issues will be addressed? That sir, doesn't make sense. Bioware had forever and a day to polish their game. They had a massive budget ect ect ect (I'm not going to go over this again. It's been done a zillion times). Reality is they had years and years and years of examples to follow and not follow, and they chose to ignore the successes or failures of other MMOs. More power to you if you want to stay and play, but don't insult people for leaving over very valid reasons. We don't have to stay and pay for your game's progress.
  6. True, to a degree. Reading the forums, I personally feel far too much weight is given to this feature by the players. While it's true that the game is *all* pixels, you're not trying to flirt with and marry your raid bosses. There's an expectation for intimacy with the romance options, and it's a false one imo. I admit being sucked in briefly before I realized "this is silly". All in all I think the system has more potential to disappoint than please, but maybe that's just me. Other opinions are valid. If I like them (nah jk.)
  7. The amount of space stations, airlocks, and loading screens also discourage people from coming to help you. Often I'm willing to help people but when a guildie needs it and I'm on a separate planet with no hearth option to return to mine, I know there's a good 20 min in travel time to get back to what I was doing. That is a HUGE deterrent. Poor design unfortunately : /
  8. Looks like WoW is having some server issues, so I'm back (Yes, SWOTR players, MMOs have server issues! And patch days! And maintenance! It's all part of the cycle.) In all honesty, I'm not in total disagreement with you and the other dude above me who's name is so complicated that I can't be bothered to keep editing till it's spelled right xD Both sides need to change. "Casuals" need to put just *a little more effort* into their roles so that they don't tie groups down and not expect all the content to revolve around their lack of interest or time. "Elitists" need to ease up on the smack talk and jack-***ery that basically acts like bad players are stupid people and that this game (or WoW) is the most important thing on earth. I don't support the attitude that "I don't want to do X or read X and just want to wing it". Not all content is balanced around such an attitude and you shouldn't expect to be carried through it. I also don't support "**** NOOB! You're ****!" This is just an elitist being an idiot. Both sides need to step it up in different ways.
  9. I played a rogue, and only a rogue. I've tanked more than my fair share of close calls running the gamut from loose trash mobs to raid bosses. In fact, I once tanked a heroic dungeon boss from 70% effectively managing my abilities (Broodlord Mandokir in Heroic ZG). Kept recouperate up and spaced out CR and Evasion = clutch tank. Had to pop a health pot and I had the gear to make it a shorter fight. I killed Deathwing in normal first week (heroic obviously not available first week) and the tank ended up dying. Me picking up the adds and spacing out my cds led us to our first kill. Point is, if you're really that good, you're going to have the gear and skill to carry any amount of bad. Not here to argue that point though as it's off topic. My sub here ends tomorrow or something, and I've updated wow. Gonna go play it.
  10. No one is asking you to group with bad players. I'm not asking you to baby anyone. I'm asking you not to be a d*ck about it. Consult the group, and if you decide to kick him, kick him. That's what the group kick function in WoW was for. However, maybe you're not as good as you think you are, because I could carry any amount of bad in a random heroic in WoW. I never kicked anyone because it was never necessary. Literally, I never kicked anyone. If you are good enough, the kick function becomes irrelevant. If the heals suck and the tank dies? I spread out defensive cooldowns, use self heals, and pick up tanking mid fight. If the rest of the dps sucks, I pop a potion of the Tol'vir and just dps harder. Group kick is unnecessary but I think it's perfectly valid to use it if someone is literally holding the group back.
  11. You misunderstand. I *ALSO* refuse to raid with people who don't play at their peak. The difference between me and you is that you rip them to shreds, carrying around the very elitist attitude that the OP is talking about. I will not tolerate failure in my raid group. However, I won't be a jerk to people who aren't as good as I am. All things like your post do is create a divide in the player base. You aren't entitled to treat someone like **** just because they aren't up to your standards. I'm not asking you to group with them, hell, I won't, but you don't get to leave human decency behind just because it's the internet.
  12. Thank you Ergolus and Maasterrcsaw for perpetuating the cycle and proving the OPs point. People like you make people like me look bad. Stop it.
  13. Your scouter must be malfunctioning. I bet you there are far fewer people who understand your reference in this game because this community didn't grow up with it
  14. Honestly, threads like this are one of the reasons I'm going back to WoW. It's far too casual here, and the general mentality is "it doesn't matter how I play". I parsed regularly on my rogue in WoW, sometimes as high as 3rd in the world (no crap), but never, NEVER did I link meters. My assumption was that anyone who cared about dps already had meters and could see themselves. Those that didn't have them wouldn't care how I did in the first place so there was no reason to link them. There's a misconception that you have to play like an addict to have basic understanding of your class. Honestly, most of the information is out there, and usually all it takes to have a full grasp of what you need to do may take 30 min at worst. Now, making your class work at the highest level is obviously not as simple as reading up on it, but there's no REAL excuse besides being lazy not to know what basic stats you need, and what your rotation should look like. I really try my best to help people out when they are messing up in dungeons. I was doing Directive 7 a couple weeks ago the tank had zero idea what to do, and on the first boss he just kept tunneling one droid instead of switching when the droids' shields swtiched. This caused us multiple wipes and several thousands of credits in repairs (believe it or not, money I didn't have). While some of the group members were relatively upset, I did my best to explain what he needed to do, and offered to explain the boss multiple times. You don't have to suck to be nice and you don't have to be good to be a jerk. Making broad statements about skilled players being buttholes is equally as arrogant as saying saying all people who play less than an hour a day must be absolutely terrible. It's not all black and white and your OP leaves no room for gray.
  15. Honestly, I don't really care about romance with an npc. People clamor for it, but investing yourself in a "relationship" that isn't real is just going to lead to disappointment. It has to end somewhere, and pretty soon everyone is going to hit a "that's it?" moment when they realize they can't go any further, or keep talking to their digital boyfriend/girlfriend.
