  1. after the upcoming patch nothing in PvP will be "hard" anymore. after the patch you will get more valor for a loss then you did pre-patch for a win with 11 medals ... go figure ... catering to the casuals is all im saying...
  2. good job bioware...you just killed the last little bit of world pvp that was left ... *facepalm* *** ? WHY ? welcome to the welfare MMO!
  3. you know, im in the same boat as the OP, initially i thought "wow, really nice" but it significantly drops off past 50 once youve done EV and KP a couple of times. you get the feeling that there is a lack of substance, endgame is nothing more then progressing killing the same boss with 400k hp > 800k hp > 1.2mio hp(not accurate numbers, just an example). and yeah, i agree with you aswell that bioware probably had a different target audience in mind. to me it seems the game is entirely catered towards a casual playstyle. i logged intro LOTRO again today for the first time in 4 months and after doing some questing it immediately struck me how trivial TORs content is in comparsion. i do get the feeling that they spent too much time on story and not enough on the rest of the content. and just rolling an alt to see a different story doesnt make a lot of difference to me because 98% of the quests you're doing are the same irregardless of class.
  4. has been posted around here a dozen times(if you look at the timestamp its from the end of january ...)....
  5. lemme begin by saying yes, this is a bit of a rant but its no "I QUIT ZOMG" thread. TL;DR: To sum it up, I think TOR is a solid game that simply lacks the features to will keep the hardcore crowd playing for any significant amount of time. so, after 17 days 6h 25min. /played im getting the distinct feeling that the game is getting old pretty fast. There are a couple of points here that bug me and im certain some of you feel the same way so here goes: Oh, and for the record if I refer to WoW i refer to it around the middle of BC, before WotLK. 1) Operations & FPs(hand in hand with gear progression) Now what bugs me about these isnt really easy to quantify. The Operations and FPs are all nicely made but the whole conecpt of Normal/Hard/Nightmare mode is getting to me. Back in WoW there was progression from one Raid to the next. MQ > BWL > AQ, you know the drill. In TOR however there is no such thing, you just do Normal > Hard > Nightmare. Wether it be Karaggas Palace or EV doesnt matter. What im lacking here a sense of achievement I guess when the only difference between normal mode and hardmode is HP of mobs and the damage they do this just seems like an easy way out. Which brings me to another point, difficulty. Now im definitely not what could be considered a casual player so this is all relative but to me it seems that after a while the game just gets piss easy and allows for a lot of error. Now from a casual perspective(and I do have the feeling this is Biowares primary target audience) this is a good thing i guess but for me right now it just doesnt cut it anymore. There is very little challenge in actually learning the fights(takes no more then one night to completely figure out EV or Karaggas) and essentially what beats hardmode is gear. imo the mistake here is that instead of going for more complex boss mechanics(Nefarian anyone?) Bioware opted to put in hard enrage timers as the limit. Lets just look at the last Boss fight in Karaggas palace for example. To me it seemed trivial beyond belief and we beat him on the 2nd attempt even without having read a single word about the fight beforehand. Theres just nothing to figure out there. Just consider how long it took in Vanilla WoW to progress from MC to BWL and then compare it to how long it will take you to go from Normal EV to Nightmare... 2) PvP Let me start by saying that as far as balance goes I think TOR is just fine, and no, im not playing a Sorcerer, thank you for asking. What annoys me here is for example Ilum. On my Server we had a couple of times where there were really nice fights going on but the problem is that half of the people just dc'ed after a while(including me. if im in a big zerg in Ilum i allways crash about 15min. in) aswell as the unbearable framerates. 5-10 FPS is just no fun to play with. Also the lack of a working auto-balance in Huttball is very annoying. Ive had countless games when playing Imp vs. Imp one Team starts with 8 people and the other starts with 5 or 6. Seriously, when playing vs. the same faction why is there no round robin to balance it at 7v7 ? In low level warzones theres the additional factor that more often then not you face a team with an average lvl of 40+ when your team is on average 20-30. Again, when its same faction I dont see why automatic balancing isnt there. None of these are biggies some of it is just annoying at times. Another point here is the borked Bag System past Valor rank 60. Right now im averaging one BM token per 16 bags which, frankly, is frustrating cause the Bags simply give me Champion commendations which I have absolutely no use for. As of right now 2 of my companions have better gear then a lot of players thanks to champion commendations ... 3) The lack of timesinks As odd as it may sound even though I despised Faction grinds in other MMOs like LOTRO or WoW im beginning to see the point of them right now. 2 days a week my guild does HM operations, the rest of the time there really isnt a lot to do other then just doing warzones and collect the dailies. The fact that even when learning hardmode operations you can easily clear them in one night if properly geared also factors in to that. Another thing here is crafting. Where in other games you would actually be out in the world gathering your crafting materials in TOR you just sit at fleet sending your companions on missions. Now while this may essentially be the same thing as running around the world gathering materials the difference is that in WoW or LOTRO you actually had something to do compared to just waiting 30min. until your companions return. again, this is a feature that I think is greatly appreciated by casuals which only log in for a couple of hours per week since they can get other stuff done during that time but to me it just trivializes the experience. 4) A serious lack of things to do in the world at 50 I think I dont need to explain this one. Couple of Dailies on Belsavis, couple of Dailies on Ilum, thats it(affected by the crafting system since you dont need to go out and gather materials). Now these are the biggest gripes I have with TOR at the moment with a lot of smaller ones on top of that(meaningless crafting for example). Ill still hang around to see what 1.2 brings but for me personally I dont think the long term appeal is there to stay subbed past may.
  6. and once again 241 people have fallen victim to the biggest troll around here besides Jediduckling... people...look up the other threads this guy has started. one day he claims sorcs/sages need a buff, next day they are unbeatable just dont feed it
  7. rofl, thats a lie and you know it!
  8. will you STOP TALKING ABOUT BOUNTY HUNTERS WHEN YOU MEAN MERCENARYS!!!!! please, us powertechs is bounty hunters too and being put in the same basket as the tracermonkeys offends me. anyway, fight vs. tracermonkey ... interrupt tracer missile, watch him stare at you for 4sec. not knowing what to do(the REALLY good ones actually use unload if you interrupt them but thats only 1 out of 10 times...) and just for the record, rep commands are just the same...
  9. I bought the combat tech champion set yesterday(what else to do with 300+ useless champ commendations) and the set bonus works as advertised now. been deliberately using carbonize a lot and works whenever it should(eq. when target doesnt have full resolve).
  10. but isnt the bag from the vendor unique ? so you can only have 1 in your bag ?
  11. 2v2 ? you mean an "I WIN" for the Heal Sorc/DPS Tank combo ?
  12. 17 seconds between bubbles...you manage to kill a healer with healing backup in 17 seconds ? a healer with a knockback, and forcespeed, and snares ? The BH/Trooper immunity to interrupts is on a rather long cooldown afaik and they still can be stunned so thats not much of an issue. its an ability for "oh s*it" moments compared to the bubble. and ill say it again, no 2 of any other class can tip the favour in any given warzone as much as 2 heal sorc/sages do, thats the problem.
