    Dead?

    ^This. 1000 times, THIS! And to reinforce the points around "taking too long", this post is from March. It is now mid-September and there's still nothing being said or done. Not to mention, look at all the missed marketing opportunities... Star Wars is as popular (if not, even more so) as it has ever been. New movies coming out every year, merchandise and marketing material are EVERYWHERE. Take all the populace out there who love online games and LOVE Star Wars and just spend a thimble-full of effort/capital on reminding them that, "Hey... pssst... You might not have known this, but there's this awesome Star Wars MMO!" or... "Do you love WoW? Do you also love Star Wars? Well, guess what we have for you!!" It's like they've already resigned to the fact that this game is a failed venture and they are not willing to invest anything in it to allow it to be the juggernaut that it could and should be. The market is ripe. There's practically free publicity just based on the Star Wars brand... All they have to do is reach out and take it. And for the love of all that is holy, do SOMETHING in the meantime to at least maintain the subscriber base that you still have! We LOVE this game! Please don't let it die!
  2. Yup. The server is dead. It's been dead for a long time. In order to actually play and enjoy the game, we are now expected to either: A.) Pay $$$/CC in addition to what we are already paying in subscription in order to transfer to a more populated server. or; B.) Start over on a more populated server. I love this game. Seriously.... I REALLY love it. Followed it for years in development. Scoured the forums every day. Played multiple beta phases. Hung on every word of every dev post, hoping for some hint at a release date. The day that my collector's edition box arrived at my door was the happiest moment in all of the many years that I have been gaming. I'm not going to say the usual "Blah blah, gimme what I want or you suck and I quit" BS that seems to by typical of these threads. I think it's safe to say that I will continue to play this game until they shut the servers down. However, with all that having been said... I am incredibly disappointed that BW/EA would not do everything possible in order to keep a happy and healthy subscriber base. If people don't enjoy your game, they will take their money elsewhere. I implore you, please do not kill this game. Merge the bloody servers, for Pete's sake! lol /rant

  4. 100% agree. Not losing everything and paying to transfer 14 characters from a dead server and I refuse to start over again on another server and lose everything I've built up since launch. MERGE! FFS!!!
  5. Well said and thought out, sir. I guess my issue is that I don't really look at it so much like gambling. When you look at it from that perspective, it makes perfect sense that BW would keep the slot machines turning exactly the way they are. However, to the best of my knowledge the game is not exactly thriving in terms of active subs. At that point, you are taking a base of players who are already shaky at best and asking them to support a failing system by pouring more cash into it. Most of them are willing. Otherwise, they wouldn't still be here. However, can one really call this model a success? If that were true, my server wouldn't be dead and I wouldn't be tapping my proverbial foot, waiting for a merge. The game would be healthy and so would my server and none of what I've created this post to b1t*h about would be relevant. And yet, here we are... So, back to the point in my original post... Haven't we learned yet that this RNG bullsh** just pisses people off and drives them to other games? Remember how game population plummeted after launch when the bulk of the player base hit 50 and all PVP gearing was RNG based? People hated it... Stack that up with the horrid failures of Ilum and the lackluster content schedule for the PVE'ers and you have the catalyst for the downward spiral which led to where we are now. I'm not saying that changing things will attract new players or bring old ones back. That's more in the "act of god" category at this point... No, no... What I am suggesting is that, in order to hold onto the people they still have that they should not continue to add insult to injury.
  6. ^This would be the only problem I would foresee potentially arising from it. However, think back to when the Eradicator's armor set came out. That was something you could buy specifically. I forget how many CC it cost at that time, but it was neither obscene nor cheap in CC cost and still fetched a good price on the GTN. (shrug)
  7. True, but just as an example... So I bought a hypercrate and two supercrates. Approximately $60. That was how much I was willing to spend for my item. If you were to make certain rare items available at roughly the cost of a hypercrate or maybe just say, the cost of 2 supercrates, they would still make awesome money. A.) People would still buy the packs because you have the chance to get more items for less CC B.) People would also buy the specific items at a premium cost. Really, there are two types of buyers when it comes to these packs. People who want specific items and people who are just seeing what they get. It would be an easy fix to appeal to both and probably INCREASE profit.

  9. Agreed on most points, unless you are on a dead server and the GTN is equally dead. I have plenty of credits to buy what I want and plenty of stuff to sell or trade as well. I don't have a problem with that either. [edited to remove b**ch mode LOL]
  10. I've been a loyal sub since launch. Not going anywhere any time soon... But for the love of all that is holy, let us buy armor sets or specific items from the cartel packs. Make it more expensive to buy specific items... I get that you want people to have incentive to buy the packs. But JFC!!! I've dropped $60 in the past 2 days on these stupid packs, hoping for a specific armor set... Not griping about the money. I wouldn't spend it if I didn't have it and I am happy to spend it as long as there's a decent chance that I'll actually get what I want. But apparently, there isn't a good chance and buying these packs, in many cases, is like setting your money on fire. If someone's willing to drop the coin, at least let them buy the damned item that they actually want. Didn't we learn our lesson with this RNG bulls*** yet? Don't spit in the faces of your already dwindled subscriber base by asking them to piss their money away without at least giving them the option to ACTUALLY GET WHAT THEY WANT. Again, it's a great game and I don't mind paying into it. I hope it keeps kicking for a long time to come. But *** man... Don't abuse your subscribers. /rant
  11. Honestly, in the light of how strong healing is in PVP currently, I think all DPS AC's (aside from smash) need some love to make at least one of their trees comparable to smash and able to do significant burst DPS. TL ; DR - Every DPS AC/class should have a viable burst DPS tree/option.
  12. Per your earlier statements, your main "beef" was that it allowed them to continue doing damage and get healed while being unable to be damaged themselves. So CC them and they stop doing damage... They can get healed. So can you. My argument (if you can even call it that... More of a point than an argument, really) is most certainly not void. On a personal note, I have read most of this thread and I think you need to calm down a little bit. The vehemence and blatant hatred you seem to throw at anyone who even remotely disagrees with you on here would be much better suited to the WoW forums. Have a nice day.
  13. How is CC not a counter? He has a few seconds of god mode. Freakin CC him through his god mode and negate its usefulness. Yes, he might get some heals in the meantime... And if your team is competent, so will you. What the problem is?
  14. Okay, fair enough. Can you counter Force Cloak/stealth? It's called CC And regarding your earlier argument that They don't ever have to pull back or stop attacking, I'm pretty sure they can't keep attacking during Camo. Just my 2 cents... I play Jugg, not a marauder and I agree that they are pretty nasty. The amount of defensive CD's they have (more than Jugg/Guard) plus the fact that they can put out even more damage than we can in LOLSMERSH spec does seem a bit off... But I don't have any harder of a time with them on my jug than I do with equally skilled/geard sins/shadows or snipers/slingers. Just sayin... Cheers!
