  1. Interesting, thank you. I'm not a big MMO player (just one at a time and only if I like it) so I wasn't aware that it was commonplace.
  2. Not to derail your "get the facts correct," but you're making more of an assumption of why the subs were lost than the person you quoted. In addition these sites believe Blizzard's subscription loss is directly attributed to TOR going off what World of Warcraft producer John Lagrave stated. Blizzard even claims the subscriptions dropped because people finished the content quicker than any other expansion (take that with a grain of salt, of course). While I never played World of Warcraft, it seems that the game has hit its climax in 2010 (12 million subscriptions) and has been eroding ever since. Stating the game is "steady at 10.2 million" seems a bit odd to me, considering in May 2011 they had 11.4 million and in September 2011 they were at 10.2 million. Since Blizzard hasn't released any numbers yet, but have admitted TOR had an impact, it seems a bit of a stretch to state their 10.2 million -while still an impressive amount- is "steady." I'm sure if Warcraft's "Scroll of Resurrection" incentive is successful, we'll hear about it, just like if Mists of Pandaria is successful. Otherwise, I would think you'd have to wait for Blizzard's next quarterly report to see whether their subscriptions are "steady" or not. YMMV.
  3. Do you question why they use Sith when sith is an archaic phrase of sith tham, which means "after that," "subsequently to that," and sith alone means roughly "to that"? Or the history of Jedi? Sometimes there's just coincidence or hoping for obscure knowledge. (Vader, anyone?) My question to the devs is: When Dr. Muzyka stated "This July everyone can play the game up to level 15, for free," did he mean only for the month of July or beginning in July and continuing on indefinitely? Link (22:47)
  4. I'm not sure what you're referring to, but I'm referring to Dr. Ray Muzyka talking live on stage during E3 this week where he stated, "This July everyone can play the game up to level 15, for free." Link (22:47) Like I stated, I thought he was implying July only. Maybe it just begins in July.
  5. I thought he said just for the month of July (when the Cathar would become a playable species). Was nice to hear that there will be an increase in the level cap and new companions will be available. The blasters didn't shoot bolts so much as beams. :jawa_sad: That and the sound (as well as the neck breaking) made me think this was just another of the advanced Splinter Cell/Black Ops-type games that have been previewed, just with a Star Wars skin. Obviously it's just one look at the game and very early on, but hopefully they'll inspire me with later reveals.
  6. Okay, I hope Star Wars 1313 isn't simply Splinter Cell in space. Except for the Star Wars skin, it looked just like the other 'elite unit' games shown on Monday. The Tomb Raider seemed interesting, story-wise. And whatever that game was with the three sizes of creatures (human, giant and titan?), seemed neat, although if it's X-box only, I won't be getting it.
  7. I actually played that game when it was new! Oh, Lord, I'm old and fat. Maybe I'm thinking a different game than Duck Hunt, though. I don't remember this gun game being in color. I think it was on the same system as Pong. (But it has been a LONG time....)
  8. I think Duck Hunt was the first bounty hunter game.
  9. Ironically, the first post would have been sufficient. YMMV.
  10. I can't promise anything, but I'll try or link someone else's video if no one beats me to it.
  11. The Gamorrean Horde! Watching the commercial on SpikeTV, it does keep showing Zam's speeder crash. I worry it's going to be a racing game. While I would prefer a capital ship-based game, I wouldn't mind just about any non-force-using-themed game (Ewoks and Gungans not allowed!). I wouldn't mind if it were a good story-based game, but not a huge fan of RTS. A choose-your-own bounty hunter style adventure could be fun as well. Anyway, I've already prepared the DVR and even plan on watching Thursday's "sneak peak" to see what this is about, although chances are it'll be after my bed-time considering I have to be at work by 3 a.m.
  12. This post will be broken down into three parts, but I didn't want to add to the flood of threads in the forums. NOTE: Despite playing since Early Game Access, I am a casual PvE player. I am also wanting legitimate and EULA-abiding methods. 1. POWER LEVELING What methods do you use to level up your character(s) the quickest? Although I have eight characters, only one is 50, another is 37 and the rest are 10-17 (I like the story!). While I have two Sith Warriors and three Sith Inquisitors (to see how the enjoyable stories differ), I don't necessarily want to do all the planetary quests over and over and stay at low levels indefinitely. For those of you who made level 50 within a week or two, how did you do it? Do you do every quest on one planet and skip the quests on another? Do you do just Heroics and Class Story? Do you do bonus quests or skip them? Do you do Flashpoints over and over? Do you simply press [sPACEBAR] and not worry about the story? 2. EARNING CREDITS How do you earn/consolidate so many credits? I see people stating they earn 100k/hour or 200k/3hours, 1 million per day, etc.; I've never had more than 150,000 credits on me at any one time (even when sending all my credits from one character to another). I still haven't been able to afford Speeder Training level 2. Do you avoid buying at the GTN? Do you sell to the GTN or to vendors? Do you sell only certain items on the GTN? Do you use Crew Skills? Do you avoid or encourage sending companions off on missions? Do you craft and sell? Do you craft just for yourself (and maybe guild)? Do you only sell blues/purples? I watched some YouTube videos and there were a few that agreed on buying up cheap purples and selling them at higher prices. I went through my inventory of purples and found crafting material that was selling at 10x the "GTN suggested" price as well as selling. I bought up all the low "suggested" prices and resold them at the 10x amount - nothing. Resold them two days later at 9x amount. - Nothing. I repeated this process until I lowered the factor pricing when they sold for about 1.5x - 2x the GTN suggested price. What are the best methods of earning credits while leveling up and once you're leveled up? 3. POST LEVEL 50 Now that I have a level 50, what's the "proper" way/path to gear him up? I started doing some Hard Modes and the people in the FP with me were surprised I didn't have all purple gear on. (I did loot one purple belt, at least!) If I can't do HMs until level 50, but I'm supposed to have purple gear to do HMs, what step(s) did I miss? Does purple gear drop on Ilum? Is there also an "end gear" path? I see people talking in Fleet about they have X gear and are working towards Y gear. Are some of those PvP gears tier-based or is this simply talk of specializing (DPS, Tank, Heal)? I will appreciate if you can help with even one of these three areas. Thank you for your time.
  13. I've been mostly away from the game since 1.2 (maybe 10 hours total log time since 1.2) due to family stuff, but from reading the forum threads, it doesn't seem to have been implemented well. I can understand one planet being infected (Tatooine -a "deserted" desert planet- though?), but players shouldn't be allowed to leave while infected, IMHO. Imagine a casual gamer like myself who didn't visit the forums, logs in and his Fleet character becomes infected and he's initially clueless as to why and doesn't know how to cleanse it. He may not be part of the 2% of the population that visits the forums. I'm going to log in and play for a while (hopefully), so my view may change, but the initial feel is it wasn't done well. That may be simply because I'm a casual player. I just would hate to have to make sure all 8 characters are off the fleet.
