Nothing is bugged, there is a key. Sure you have to reset if you get locked out, but you don't just randomly move on. I know there have been tons of posts on this topic, I'm sure you'll find out what you need to do in one of them.

BH Act 1 8/10 The character has some great responses and is the most epic of the three. Act 2 6/10 Decent story, but twists are more expected Act 3 8/10 Better story, big risks, and epic rewards. IA Act 1 8/10 Great intro, again a class draws in the player. More Bourne than Bond. Act 2 9/10 Amazing. Phenomenal turns and twists. Act 3 7/10 Solid, but it can get a bit confusing. The end is interesting to say the least. SW Act 1 7/10 Like its been said alot of do this, do that. I expect that will change so jurys out.
