  1. You are running in Dark Charge genius; that's going away for you too.
  2. Nope - I pressed the naga keys and the stroke reported was the same as when it wasn't set to NUM.
  3. I tried toggling this on both the mouse and the synapse software panel. It didn't change the buttons for me to the numpad ones so I pretty much gave up on it. Any ideas why that might be? Are you running the synapse drivers as well? I suspect that may be the problem. One more thing I forgot to mention above: Be careful binding stuff to a 'ctrl' modifier. You cannot hold control and mouse turn in this game for whatever stupid reason.
  4. It baffles me how many MMO players ignore binding stuff to: Q E R F Z X C V These are the easiest keys to reach for most every human while holding down W to run. A+D should be bound to strafe left/right. Note that E is the single easiest key to spam for most humans while moving with W. Your most used attack is optimally bound to this key. C and V are both very easily triggered by your left hand thumb and should be considered for high traffic abilities as well. The goal should be the ability to fight and move without interruption to either. The best way to test your keybinds for efficiency is to hold down W and see what keys you can depress without letting go of it. Auto-run is not advised as a replacement for moving with W in combat. It can be used in some situations, but the act of toggling on and off running is subpar to being able to control movement more effectively. Clicking both mouse buttons down to run also introduces fatigue and limits your ability to use mouse for click targeting when tab doesn't suffice; therefore it is not advised. Additional easy to reach keys can also be bound appropriately: T G B 3 4 For people with small hands T and G may be more difficult to reach, but B is easily activated by your thumb which typically idles on space bar. In order to press 1 or 2 most people will have to move their left hand middle finger off of W for a moment. This is sub-optimal. Ideally 1 2 are used for abilities on a longer CD that won't need to be pressed often in combat, but 3 4 make great binds that are only slightly more difficult to reach than QERFZXCV. If you haven't already intuited by now, the default game UI bindings for these keys should be reassigned. How often do you need to open your character window quickly or reply to a chat in combat? You can reply with /r almost as quickly without sacrificing prime key real estate. For reference, I bind 'open character window' to numpad 0. Binding most of your attacks and important defensive cooldowns to QERFZXCV or some shift/ctrl/alt modifier of those simply will enable you to be more effective. My personal layout with keybinds can be seen by clicking here. Please note, I use a Razer Naga mouse so 1234567890 are all actually triggered with right hand thumb. If you don't use a Razer Naga, apply the advice above to your keybinding layout - don't just copy what you see on my bars.
  5. If you're saying 27/11/3 will be stronger than 27/14 is on live, I disagree.
  6. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200rsMokrskrZhGbMk.1 I use survivor's gear with all the mod/enh replaced with the ones from stalker's set.
  7. I suspect that these changes are culled from BioWare's aggregate warzone observations and my worry is that they are missing a critical point of data. The 27/14/0 darkness spec I personally play can certainly draw attention; when played effectively you are a medal earning machine and can escape incredible odds to turn the tide of battle often. Not only does this style of play require a high skill cap but it has one major prerequisite for it to be effective: a guarded healer that you are actively working with to protect. My guess is that this little bit is what's being overlooked and preempting action that might not be warranted. Darkness 27/14 in DPS gear can put out a solid amount of pressure. Burst is not at all our forte but control, incredible peels, and sustained pressure are what we bring to the table when paired with a high synergy healer. Running solo you quickly find that your survivability isn't that of a proper tank in tank gear and your ability to pressure is consequently hindered a great deal. That's a fair tradeoff in my book, and one that doesn't offset the balance severely because you are dependent on another player. Part of this problem manifests itself simply because defense, shield, and absorb rating are of very low value in PVP. Given the focus in the darkness tree toward shielding you can see why most PVP darkness assassins co-opted DPS gear. The tides shift when you work together with a healer and communicate effectively. I'd wager that a 27/14 darkness sin is the best peeler in the game. You have many tools to keep your healer alive, but blowing them all means you limit your ability to pressure as well. Our pressure comes in part from some of those same tools. When you lack the burst potential (as we should since we chose to play a hybrid spec) you must rely on well timed stuns, snares, grips, etc in order to keep on your target/interrupt healing long enough to chip away at your enemy's health pool. As it stands this means you are an effective utility player. Not able to endure as long as a traditional tank, nor able to put out strong enough burst to score quick kills, but of great value when paired with an appropriate supporting healer and smart use of your abilities. In all my experience in MMOs I think the tor assassin is actually one of the best balanced classes when compared to the others in this game. The hybrid specs, while effective, definitely come with tradeoffs that you have to base your playstyle around. That's exactly how it should work. The best way I can articulate this is to say that switching from deception to 27/14 was a conscious choice on my part for two important reasons: I regularly PvP with a healer friend who gets heavily focused I wanted to play a spec that gave me more opportunities to capitalize on enemy mistakes at the expense of much less damage While I won't say the proposed changes will destroy our class or anything as extreme as that, I will say that clearly this is an attempt to steer us toward our 31 pt talents. Personally, I'd rather they make the 31 pt talent more appealing if that's the desired goal, but I can understand how this might upset balance in the process. However, I will say that if these changes go live, there should really be some serious investigation into the darkness assassin's pvp tanking viability and the defense/shield/absorb rating effectiveness on the gear meant to support it. I suppose I should mention the obvious; that the big killer here for 27/14 is the lack of induction outside surging charge. Without the force efficiency granted by this your ability to pressure at all is hindered severely.
  8. Very effective when guarding a healer. I play a darkness assassin in DPS gear. Less burst, but good sustained pressure, great harassment, and very tough to kill. http://i.imgur.com/JU6iV.jpg
  9. An idea for making world pvp an encouraged pursuit: Every MMO offers titles to highlight your success, but what about the ability to deface the titles of enemy players? Similar to the unbeatable, invincible, immortal progressive ranks awarded in warzones, you could have tiers of world pvp kills assign a temporary (2-7 day) unremovable title <Victim of Sap>, for example. Make these perks only occur for world pvp interaction. Give players the ability to brand enemy world PVP combatants; boom - incentive for world pvp.

+1 bring back the best PVP any MMO has ever offered. DAoC was a great blueprint.
  11. Thanks to the community manager who gave me a warning for the 'spam' in my post about this. I was just describing the bug as you'll see below. This is a friendly reminder from your customer. You have not been given an infraction for this event. http://i.imgur.com/4UwZt.jpg Nice QA team you've got going on over there.
  12. I hope the lesson learned from all this is that while releasing new content quickly seems like a great idea, it is much more important to get it right than push it out early.
  13. Symptom of the problem I described.
