  1. You guys are totally missing the point. Sentinels wear medium armor and have the longest defensive cooldowns in the game. It's super clear there is more survability. The problem is something with TWO LIGHTSABERS shouldn't be doing less damage than a class with ONE. Watchman/Anni has long been the spec that had the absolutely highest damage output vs every other class/spec and now it is somewhere near the bottom. Being grateful doesn't make you cool. I'm not saying it's right for people to whine and cry about it, but it is clear that it is not working as intended. Furthermore, it is not a L2P issue.
  2. You're right. The defensive increase of playing a sentinel has gone up. Period. Added especially to Watchman tree because the self-heals when you manage to spread to a group. The problem? A jug now does more DPS and still has more survability. Somehow I don't think much was accomplished. The problem is that Bioware has believed that this was a DPS INCREASE to our class/spec and it is NOT. In PvP or PvE. The burn spreads aren't even as effective because spreading Cauterize is close to pointless and Force Melt now does less damage and ticks for a shorter duration than it did before. It feels a little more like the old watchman spec because of the cauterize wearing off shortly, there's room to re-apply it. Except unlike prior to 3.0, reapplying cauterize leads to DPS loss, not gain. I'm not saying I hate it. I'm saying that sentinels/marauders are not working as intended. There's no new potential from the watchman spec. Not unless you're going to find 4 people to stand still and wait for you to use 3 GCDs to burn them all. Tip: Only terrible players allow you to do this. On a side note, I'm not sure why people complain about Watchman spec in PvE. I still far exceed the DPS checks even with the nerf. Not the point, though. Mandos, Mercs, and Slingers are all vastly preferred and do even more damage. On my server, there's a gunslinger hitting for 16k often and clearing 2mil damage in 5-10 warzones.
  3. This isn't an argument about skill level. This is an effort to promote teamwork. An environment which makes it easy to find like-minded individuals, and jump in. Whether that's to form a group prior to the warzone, or have a location you can designate everyone to. In fact, almost every pick-up game I've ever played on Counterstrike was done through Vent. Even though the game offered in-voice chat. There's definitely a mature, and purposed way to carry this out. I'm here to gauge interest. Overall, the intended effect is to benefit the community. Fielding ranked teams wouldn't be a problem if people became used to the idea of needing to work together. Ranked, or unranked warzone.
  4. Personally, I think the pre-mades vs. pugs argument has gone on long enough. I was thinking maybe it's time to take matters into our own hands. So I thought about what we, as a player base, could effectively do. The answer I have is a simple one: Buy a universal vent server, which holds a maximum of 400 people. (The biggest one I found after a brief google result) Registration, of course, would be required, with users being required to use their actual character name (for what they're pvping, if you switch characters, switch usernames, too) I'd think we'd need a few mods to deal with chaos. But I think the idea of joining a room, where you see other people who are in the wz are also in, should make it easy. My question is this: Are people who PUG willing to organize? Can we as a community actually play nice? Can we stand contested results, and be okay with losing, for the fun in it? Maybe you find new friends. Maybe those lone wolfs end up in a pack. Maybe more people learn to PvP and have fun doing it. Or maybe someone just logs in and screams HEAL TO FULL during a match. I don't know. Input?
  5. I threw out a random number. I don't really remember what level he was. Other than he was very low. And that I could not seem to damage him effectively whatsoever. I am currently still level 50.
  6. That was my next question. I do have maximum coms for both ranked/unranked at the moment, but I was unsure of what I should use them for. As for my gear, there are several pieces still with expertise in them. +100 here and there. Maybe I need to relearn to play, but a level 16 bounty hunter completely whooped my *** in a 1v1. It was painful trying to do 20k damage. Also my skill tree has changed. (I've always played combat) Is there anything else I should be well aware of to be viable again?
  7. Before I left, I had my sentinel in all augmented wh stuff. I purchased Makeb. I did a WZ, and got absolutely wrecked. I mean, my average damage output was like 600-700 damage with blade rush, and my blade storm was averaging like 1.5k. I know there's been some changes. Is my WH gear actually hurting me for PvP with the way Bolster works?
  8. Except if it takes you 45 seconds to kill one person, you're probably doing something work. Not to mention a gunslinger actually has all three of those abilities... I have a mercenary, a gunslinger, and a sentinel, and in my opinion... The ranged are the easiest to get big numbers. My gunslinger with aimed shots does considerably higher damage than my sentinel does in one move. Combined with sabotage charge, (and its detonates), he can easily do 10k damage in 3 seconds. This is just on a melee's approach, by the way, and not to mention what I'll do to it the second it gets close. A swift kick in the nuts, aimed shot's probably off cd by then, and it's normally good night before they even activate gbtf. Cover is a gunslinger's greatest strength, and also a great weakness. It's easy to get overwhelmed and feel like all you do is die. I actually prefer my mercenary because I feel much more mobile. It does less damage at once, but at least I feel like I have the ability to run away.
  9. ...Actually, I got it from the link you posted. ----------------- In July 2001, Lucas gave his opinion on the matter of what is canon in Star Wars during an interview with Cinescape magazine: "There are two worlds here," explained Lucas. "There's my world, which is the movies, and there's this other world that has been created, which I say is the parallel universe—the licensing world of the books, games and comic books. They don't intrude on my world, which is a select period of time, [but] they do intrude in between the movies. I don't get too involved in the parallel universe." Further, in an August 2005 interview in Starlog magazine: STARLOG: "The Star Wars Universe is so large and diverse. Do you ever find yourself confused by the subsidiary material that's in the novels, comics, and other offshoots?" LUCAS: "I don't read that stuff. I haven't read any of the novels. I don't know anything about that world. That's a different world than my world. But I do try to keep it consistent. The way I do it now is they have a Star Wars Encyclopedia. So if I come up with a name or something else, I look it up and see if it has already been used. When I said [other people] could make their own Star Wars stories, we decided that, like Star Trek, we would have two universes: My universe and then this other one. They try to make their universe as consistent with mine as possible, but obviously they get enthusiastic and want to go off in other directions." Lucas' statements in Starlog were commented on in a December 7, 2005 post on the starwars.com forums by Leland Chee, who maintains Lucas Licensing's continuity database: Some non-canon stories with alternate plotlines have been written. CHEE: "GL is certainly not bound by the EU, though he's certainly open to using things created in it (Aayla Secura and the Coruscant name, for example). On the other hand, the quote you provide makes it sound like the EU is separate from George's vision of the Star Wars universe. It is not. The EU must follow certain tenets set by George through the films and other guidelines that he provides outside of the films." ----------------------------------- Although Chee attempts to correct the quote, by his own laws, he cannot contradict George Lucas. Lucas then goes on to state (after the original qoute) --------------------------- During ShoWest 2008, Lucas gave an interview where he mentioned the difference between "his world", "the licensing world" and the "fans' world": Interviewer: "Do you think you'd have other people continue the Star Wars saga past Episode VI or turn some of the other material into films?" Lucas: "But there's no story past Episode VI, there's just no story. It's a certain story about Anakin Skywalker and once Anakin Skywalker dies, that's kind of the end of the story. There is no story about Luke Skywalker, I mean apart from the books. But there's three worlds: There's my world that I made up, there's the licensing world that's the books, the comics, all that kind of stuff, the games, which is their world, and then there's the fans' world, which is also very rich in imagination, but they don't always mesh. All I'm in charge of is my world. I can't be in charge of those other people's world, because I can't keep up with it." Another noteworthy exchange between Lucas and an interviewer appeared in the May 2008 edition of Total Film magazine: TOTAL FILM: "The Star Wars universe has expanded far beyond the movies. How much leeway do the game makers and novel writers have?" LUCAS: "They have their own kind of world. There's three pillars of Star Wars. I'll probably get in trouble for this but it's OK! There's three pillars: the father, the son and the holy ghost. I'm the father, Howard Roffman [president of Lucas Licensing] is the son and the holy ghost is the fans, this kind of ethereal world of people coming up with all kinds of different ideas and histories. Now these three different pillars don't always match, but the movies and TV shows are all under my control and they are consistent within themselves. Howard tries to be consistent but sometimes he goes off on tangents and it's hard to hold him back. He once said to me that there are two Star Trek universes: there's the TV show and then there's all the spin-offs. He said that these were completely different and didn't have anything to do with each other. So I said, "OK, go ahead." In the early days I told them that they couldn't do anything about how Darth Vader was born, for obvious reasons, but otherwise I pretty much let them do whatever they wanted. They created this whole amazing universe that goes on for millions of years!" TOTAL FILM: "Are you happy for new Star Wars tales to be told after you're gone?" LUCAS: "I've left pretty explicit instructions for there not to be any more features. There will definitely be no Episodes VII-IX. That's because there isn't any story. I mean, I never thought of anything. And now there have been novels about the events after Episode VI, which isn't at all what I would have done with it. The Star Wars story is really the tragedy of Darth Vader. That is the story. Once Vader dies, he doesn't come back to life, the Emperor doesn't get cloned and Luke doesn't get married..." ---------------------------
  10. Not that I agree with Lucas, because others writers have put far more time and thought into SW than he has ever, but according to him it is of an "alternate" universe. If it belongs to a seperate universe, it begs the question of why even consider it canon at all? Though I would be surprised if Disney doesn't do something about that in the near future.
  11. So I read that entire wiki page. If you go only by George Lucas, nothing except the films is really canon. Though he also claimed there would never be another movie. So whatever that's worth. The artist in him has a deep conflict with the business side. Considering there's nothing to protect anything labeled C-canon if George Lucas suddenly decides to debunk it, that's really not much to go on.
  12. Nihilus doesn't make much sense. How does he supposedly do all of this consuming? A massive force storm? Does he open his mouth and shrink a planet to the size of an apple? How instanteous is it? Throughout all of the KOTOR2, you hear about the Lord of Hunger, whom consumed Katarr. Yet through the entire game, he actually consumes nothing else. He must not be that hungry if he ignores Sion and Vistas, who are constantly surrounding him. You can argue that is combat skills are greater than Sion and Traya's. Obviously not better than the Exile's. And while the Exile "was" a force wound, she regained her connection to the force as the game progressed. Which would effectively cease her from being considered a force wound. If Nihilus was actually capable of just consuming her, he would have stripped her of her force powers again, and she would not have been a threat. I think the reason BioWare ignored some of KOTOR2's lore, not only because they didn't write it, but they didn't want to trample the game. They took a certain amount of liberty, but obviously felt more comfortable centering on lore that came from their own development teams. I don't blame them one bit.
