  1. Sure you can, it just means buying up to 94 GS levels first. Then, the last three expansions are apparently CC-only.
  2. You forget this is primarily a Cash Shop stronghold. I suspect the monetized portions will be better.
  3. It's part of the cash shop. @JackieKo please tell the Emperor how thankful we are for you and your team's responsiveness to all things cold, hard cash. ❤️
  4. OR P2W transactions should be opposed on principle, and we ought to get beyond arguing over how much advantage-for-money is too much. Any is a problem.
  5. The definition you propose for P2W would allow so much malevolence it's meaningless. You fail to see it's a question of kind (yes/no), not degree (too much?). People defending the sale of Crystals, which are literal best-in-slot gear for cash, shows how effectively EA has groomed us for abuse.
  6. This is where I argue it's a question of kind, and not degree, which is the creeping doom that gets defended here.
  7. This is instructive. EA is literally selling best-in-slot gear, and you don't care because it's just a little. We shouldn't be the Niemöller of unethical business practices. "When they came for me, there was no one left to speak out."
  8. Easy example: Literally anything worth having in the Cash Shop, which functions like another premium currency and launders cash into core game systems. If you want to Aug-out an endgame character, nothing comes close to the efficiency of Cash-to-Credits conversions on the GTN. It's the thinnest of shell games. Or: Crystals are literal BiS gear for direct sale.
  9. Microtransactions leak into every core game system: progression, gearing, and crafting. On top of our subscriptions. If that doesn't register to people here, well, it explains a lot about the state of the industry. @JackieKo, the Emperor will be pleased.
  10. Pay-to-win: Any gameplay advantage (including PvE) provided by a microtransaction. Period.
  11. Whether or not a mechanic is pay-to-win is a question of kind, not degree. The failure of understanding isn't mine.
  12. I was talking about the devs transitioning *away* from cash-to-Credits conversions, and back *to* direct sale of advantages on a Credit-poor new server. This will, almost certainly, result in a shortage of Cash products on the GTN for a period of time. I believe their bet is that it's more profitable this way, and in time they'll re-grow the cash-to-Credits business for endgame Augs, etc.
  13. Sure. In a Credit-austere environment like a new server, people will be paying to win through direct purchase of Character and Legacy perks, and a few Cash Shop items. Advantages include: XP boosts Inventory slots BiS crystals Speeder movement speed Rocket boost Crafting Crits Crewskill/crafting speed Companions Companion leveling Travel benefits/cooldowns
  14. Paying to win here is the same as anywhere: an advantage-producing microtransaction. SWTOR's model has a shell game, which needs plentiful Credits for endgame purchases. They seem to be betting that the direct sale of Perks on new Legacies will be more profitable.
  15. That's consistent with what I'm saying. If there aren't enough Credits around to meet people's P2W expectations, I fully expect Cash Shop sales to plumet.
