  1. I had 8 toons from level 35 to 50, and all are empire. I decided to pick 4 to move to designated server (leaving 4 slots to work on republic toons) ... I really expected a second choice from my original server to a new one for the remaining four characters. As a full month has now passed since transfers started, and I have not played for 3ish weeks (except for inventory control, damn you buggers for not moving mail too) I think it very unlikely I will log into game again. I have 37days left from my pre-order release with 1 6month billing actually billed, and account cancelled. Rather sad a starwars game license that had so much promise can't keep me entertained. "Peace is a lie?" or "Fun is a lie."
  2. Will we only have 1 optional place for free character transfer per server? If so, what happens to original server? I can't expect you to keep it running with almost no population. Will there be a grand (different) server merge for the orphaned characters/accounts? I have 8 characters, all imperial, I was more then happy I'd be able to move half of them (four) to new server so that I can level up republic characters and enjoy both sides. I do not however, wish give up any (by leaving them behind on a server that can be expected to be closed).
  3. I wonder this as well, I have 4 of my 8 left on original server, all imperial...I left them hoping to be able to xfer(free) to a new server and 'use' this legacy junk... I am unsure what to do with them currently, they have ton of stuff in mailbox that I need to cycle thru to keep, but if I need to dump it anyway... /shrug... what to do
  4. They took a risk, and now it is biting them in the butt. How do you make an MMO that you don't create a want for healers (a diversity of classes anyway) EARLY, and really never want them except for flashpoints/operations. This isn't MMO friendly. How do you create an MMO that has long pauses in the action (the cutscenes for quests) and expect multiple people to sit through them for others who haven't seen? (you have seen LFM - must SPACEBAR) - This isn't MMO friendly. How do you create a desire to play your character, when SO many diversions are thrust in your face to level alternate characters? (legacy system) Alternate characters I always thought hurt MMO's in general, creating a want to do this so early in release when it is so easy to level... makes my head hurt. How do you make a PvP game in which you simply 'trust' it will balance out? - This isn't PvP friendly. How do you make a PvP game in which you can play both sides on the same server? - I was in beta for 6 months prior to release, I was surprised during beta that you could make toons on both sides, NEVER expected it to be like that in release. And (last one)... How do you release a game with the clunky UI we had (and while much improved, still isn't there yet) - First impressions are the most important, I can only imagine what they were thinking. I haven't cancelled yet, but I went to...figured next billing in august, may as well wait until time closer... but BOY I wonder how many like me just haven't done yet from the 6month plan. Active subscribers is one thing, inactive accounts (not yet unsubscribed) is another. What can be done? This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You're my only hope.
  5. I really don't consider SWTOR an MMO as I have ever thought of what an MMO was. With the exception of higher level flashpoints and world bosses, a two person team with their two pets can do every thing else PvE. The ability of EVERYONE having pets (aka companions) really took the whole "MMO" out of it. SWTOR with its pretty cinematic cut-scenes and voice overs also hurts the entire concept of an MMO. (HIT YOUR SPACEBAR noob) ...Pretty and possibly enjoyable if your single player, annoying as hell if your in a group waiting for someone to watch a cinematic you have seen 30x before already (or just don't care to see them at all). -Leveling TOO EASY. Death penalties too minimal. people rolling 'need' for a piece of gear for their pet. -Attempting to gain its legs (staying power) by encouraging alternate characters is something I always considered a HUGE flaw to an MMO. I don't mean I have a problem with players trying other characters/classes. I'm saying a game model that uses that strategy to entice players to play/subscribe longer is missing the MMO part, building a friends list of competent players for whom you would choose to group with is pretty damn near impossible if people are always switching to alternate characters because they desire to advance their legacy. -A PvP game with 2 sides, in which those 2 sides are not kept in a balance is incredibly shortsighted. Along with the ability to have characters ON both sides (on the same server) doesn't make any sense to me. IMO a PvP game should restrict the account (on a server by server basis) as one side or other, depending on what the current balance is (in other words, maintaining by account a 49-51% split to imperial vs republic split would have been HUGE to bring balance to both PvP AND PvE. So you want to see the 'otherside' ? Roll on another server. At release the game UI was still very stiff. I avoided grouping because, as a healer, it was frankly too difficult to wrap my head around a cluttered screen and hotkeys that failed for me. By failed I mean something I always took for granted, third person in my group was F3 to target, but no! that person DC'd and while he is now back, he is in the fourth slot, but F3 still targets him, where the person in forth slot is now in third slot...and F4 targets him & . Also annoyed about the focus target mechanics ... it is an interesting idea, I can't seem to get it to work comfortably for me... I expect I will with /most/ of the UI changes we are able to make now (I have stopped trying to mod it AGAIN until the inventory/map/craftingUI and the like are also more configurable. (went to highest size UI and shrunk components down to fit where I wanted, only to discover I open the map and cannot see it all or move it) I could gripe about a few more things but the UI was mentioned because (in beta upon hearing the release date) we all assumed they were testing a nifty, new UI that we could mod for release Even now the GTN (released clunky and flawed) has issues. Well I woke up way early and foolishly I supposed decided to add my two cents. I have not cancelled as of yet, I still have 2+ months before I need to consider. at this rate I expect my full 8 imperial side toons to be lvl 50, legacy level should be max at 50 well before then. IF I had two-boxed accounts has been my habit in MMO's I'd have been there already x2l Who I am, a person who has been in gaming since early 80's ... apple II/II+/IIe ...atari 400/800 ...dreaming of how Wizadry made by Sir-Tech could be made so four people could play together. Then a decade+ later, meridian59?daggerfall? dagger something an MMO I made test for but wasn't able to test (BSOD so powa) but then UO beta hooked me on the genre (although 3 months live play only-- people could macro/build skills afk overnight? screw that) ...ahh then EverQuest . Those were the days. Now have made beta or received invites for several betas through the years, it may be time to start paying more attention to current lists i'm waiting for and what new on the horizon I should be applying to. OldGroo who still can't believe he almost bought a 10meg HD in late '84 for $999
  6. Personally, I think launching a pvp game without a faction balance by account per server in the first place is a huge error. I also think allowing you to play both (or multiple) sides on a per server basis was an error. So...I agree with the thought of faction balance moves, but that ship has already sailed.
  7. Question Is there any recourse outside of deleting (unacceptable for me) to acquire legacy rewards to the fullest? My characters were made before ANY specific info was released. I was surprised enough that you can make both factions on one account, while I think this has created a "bantha-poo storm" of issues I will try not to distract with. I mention because it might have changed my initial character creations and indeed - entire game-plan for creating alternate characters. My quandary is this. I have 8 imperial characters. 50 operative chiss 41 sniper zabrak 41 mercanary rattataki 29 powertech (not sure race, says human but shouldn't...I think) 45 sorcerer (race showing wrong again) 33 assassin twi'lek 37 juggernaut (race wrong again) 30 marauder (race showing wrong) It is impossible for me to gain the added unlocks from the 20 companion on the republic side, not to mention the unlocks for the 12 emote/buff(ok buffs mirrored, non-issue)/heroic ability, unless I delete FOUR of my currently level 29+ alts. Four possible solutions I can see would be, which of course bring other issues for community at large : A) When free transfers hit, allowing four moves to another server (thereby freeing up slots to make replacements on other side) B) Increasing total number of character slots to 16 per server. C) giving credit for those unlocked companions upon completing their companion quest line (it IS a different character after all) D) allow a faction change for mirror class A lot of the game design/mechanics/progression i'm unhappy with all told, and while this isn't even top ten on my list... this is currently fresh in mind, and I think needs to be figured out by SWTOR-devs prior to adding MORE legacy goodies. 8. Please allow us to move in active player names in group list in a group so that I can hit F2 and KNOW that my target is now the second person in my group list. While I think group leader does have this ability, it reflects the change to entire group and I only need/want it on my point of view. Currently it does not follow any logic. If someone drops from group and rejoins/replaced the default F2,F3,F4 can end up targeting someone else. More action bars is a must, and frankly I'd be happy to do away with the function of the 'coverbar' ... My main is an op, and i'd rather have that bar normal with icons/abilities simply showing when can/can't be used. It is wasted me, wasted and unused on 6 out of 8 UI's by class (on each side yet). PLEASE PLEASE REMOVE the + and lock icon from main bar, as well as the scroll arrows ! let it be same side and not 'accidentally clickable' in a fight (yes I still click sometimes) Allow us to save globally keybinds OR at the very least dump to a text file what we have our keybinda at by character so that we can sync what we want to (for myself, I can't think of anything in preferences or keybinds that I would want different, but can acknowledge depending on class being played ...others might. Please allow us to turn off seeing other players titles/legacy-surname info. Tired I am of having someone say "GET FLYGIRL" ...
  9. Please allow us to turn off other players character rendering. (option for friendly, enemy, all - Names still show (or VERY minimal rendering-grey blob OK)) Please allow us to turn off seeing OTHERS titles--allow option to view by first name only and no legacy title. (Tired I am of being in a war zone and hearing "GET FLYGIRL" ... ) Please give us a slider for clip plane (how far graphics will draw out from character, performance for pvp! not the time for enjoying the Beauty of some panoramic landscape. Please allow us to turn off friendly names (unless group/operation) Please allow us to turn off enemy names (unless my target) Please allow us to turn OFF visual effects - sith sorc area lighting effect can be brutal (at very least give minimal effects option to tax our systems less for all casting) Please allow us an option to have 'pvp' vs 'pve' settings profile in preferences. That is, let me save a pvp profile for these options and another pve profile' -- this was not an aion option, but I wish it had been. For my game, the graphics in crowded areas in a pvp situation bogs me down. Yes I have an older system and not debating that newer system would help- not an option for my financial situation (RL sucks). The last mmo I was in was Aion. These options were in the game and allowed me to play in pvp battles that had 200-300 people on EACH side. Yes I'm saying game was playable with 500 players in one general area (bogged down sure, but comparing where 30 people on Ilum would bog me down, 10x that number was comparable in Aion. I hope this is considered. It would make the game need to move so much data around, less updates that can only slow all concerned down. It isn't a "Aion vs Swtor" content/feature, it is a general online game bottleneck reducing measure. I still lag out on Ilum when people of other faction get 'close'...just enough so I know "oh someone is near" ...aion was plagued by this too but- this demonstrates that HIS client to YOUR server to MY client is causing hiccup. Multiply this by 30 people... Thanks for reading
  10. 1.2 should have check box in new UI, I forget where specifically but it was on test
  11. I would LOVE to have a ignore by account. It has been my experience in these games that it is very often the SAME people on different characters who troll/spam/cuss/rude in general chat. It would make people be a bit more considerate if their account is on ignore and they try to find a group. It would also lessen the annoyance to the population who doesn't want to hear the same annoying banter from one person who enjoys attempting to ruin others gaming enjoyment. :ph_win:
  12. G'day While it isn't really a problem for me directly (as I have been playing mmo games for years) I am tired of answering in guild or general chat the common questions about when servers are due to come down. My suggestion is on the http://www.swtor.com/systemalerts page, out a countdown timer for how long until a downtime/patch is due to happen. Since a countdown timer it doesn't matter where someone is. Then people in all time zones around the world can see and plan effectively, rather then trying to figure out GMT +/- and accounting for daylight savings time or if 12:00 am is noon or midnight Could also do this for when servers are expected up from a maintenance patch/restart too
  13. So... apparently not enough people logged on test to provide good numbers (in the end) for ranked warzones I'm not surprised at that, the guild I am in was tardy in putting application for the PvE content, and while I have a level 26 left over from beta (was surprised to find it there) I have no desire to do warzones on a 26 operative when my main is a 50 operative. Even now if I were copied over, because 1.2 is out, I don't know how much time I would be able to put in... (but feel free to do ) I might also suggest maybe figuring out how to have test server up while regular servers are undergoing maintenance/patching. I expect you would have to put a cap on population, but you'd get a lot of action on it, as opposed to now.
  14. Open world faction vs faction... I frankly was amazed that a 'PvP' game had such limited actual fighting between the factions. I did not play WoW past its beta, and apparently it was limited to warzones there and is now that is what most people are used to. I really see this concept of PvP more as a sport then what I feel it should be. Note, I am not good at pvp...but I always look for games that have PvP as an option because PvE only is boring. I was in the beta for 6ish months before release day, I am shocked and disappointed that (in release) one account can actually have characters on both factions. I do not see a way around that now since the cat is out of the bag. I do mention this because I DO think it might be possible for the game to migrate via your light/neutral/dark points INTO 3 sided conflict. Since the factions have mirror classes, it is conceivable in a star wars world that people should be able to switch sides (becoming their mirrored class)...a lot I could rant on for that, but won't... it is Food for Thought.
  15. I'm afraid this would be so easy to exploit. Thumbs down.
