  1. Interesting theory, but you fell victim to the classic mistake. Devs design dps checks around whatever gear they choose. Nothing says the check needs to be around the best gear except traditional raiding mentality. The only thing preventing them from making all levels of content require the same gear is they know vocal parts of each segment of the player base would throw a hissy fit that there is no progression. And we all know you won't need the 198 barrels/hilts for the next thing unless they happen to do a NiM, but it certainly isn't necessary for the top tier now considering it drops off the hardest boss that currently exists.
  2. If I'm reading the thread right, the issue is not that the OP wants what is there and is out of reach, the OP wants what ISN'T there. (S)He wants them to put something in place to actively work toward at a solo/single group level for the mainhand slot. I can think of many ways to provide this content to keep it time locked (maybe a special no-trade currency you purchase with elite comms, maybe an achievement of x number of specific weekly quests gives you a token for a MH), but right now, it simply doesn't exist outside of paying someone to make it for you, and frankly, the sense of accomplishment is nonexistent when you pay money you may have been accumulating for a few years to get the newest shiny thing. In that position, I'd want to be able to work toward it once I got there, not just plunk down some cash. Oh, and for those arguing that you don't need any better to take on the content, technically, you don't need 198s for HM revan, but I bet you'd scream bloody murder if all he dropped was decorations/mounts/other misc. non-combat stuff and there was NO 198 MH (ignoring for now the 204s that are a whole other can of worms).
  3. You missed my point too, and I suspect, the OP's. It's not about wanting the BEST. It's about wanting better than leveling content AT ALL. There's no reason to exclude the MH from daily quest reward purchased gear or HM FP gear. That is typically available in those forms in most games and makes little sense to exclude here.
  4. I think the folks giving the knee jerk reaction of the typical raider telling the non raider that they don't need ops gear to run non ops content are completely missing the OP's point. It's not about getting the bis gear, it's about being able to upgrade the MH beyond leveling quest rewards AT ALL without being forced to run ops or buy from a crafter. There are essentially two levels of content that an earnable MH is missing from (unless I'm mistaken). Daily comm purchasable and flashpoints both seem to be missing them, and have for quite some time. In my experience, most games have swords/guns/slingshots/angry poodles that drop from smaller group content as well as from multi group content. Not so here. OP can correct me if I'm wrong.
  5. I sure as heck hope not. It would be disastrous to put Nightmare Mode and Story on the same progression track, as those two difficulties are not at all designed for the same groups of players.
  6. Yeah, the problem with the elemental relic at underworld level, at least for now, is that it does elemental FORCE damage, which makes it far less inviting. And sadly, the PvP relics are not an option for me, as I don't PVP, nor will I ever. Ah, well, I'll keep an eye on them in the hopes they fix it.
  7. Okay, I get that. I'm just a little bit unclear about what we should do after the arkanian level. Would it be better for us to stick with arkanian elemental tech, or actually upgrade to the only tech damage Underworld, which is energy tech?
  8. So now that the relics show the "crit type" and the "element type" of their damage, I'm seeing a lot of... inconsistency with what is currently available. For instance, I have an old Dread Guard proc relic (Dark Radiance), which does Internal Tech. Sadly, I don't think that upgrading in a linear fashion is the appropriate thing to do, because the Arkanian relic of the same name now does internal FORCE damage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but of the types available, I'm thinking in the arkanian, the best currently existing combination is Elemental Tech? So the Arkanian relic of Elemental Transcendence? Then to make matters worse, the Underworld relics have neither elemental nor internal TECH damage types. The Underworld relic of elemental transcendance suddenly does Elemental FORCE damage. So in the Underworld tier, which is the best for a PT dps? And does anyone believe they'll be changing it either before or after when I get the token to buy the damn things?
  9. I'm not sure exactly who you are referring to, but I know that I wouldn't want it this way. I appreciate, as do most others, that there are actually a variety of ways you can level.
  10. I could swear I saw them on one of the daily vendors on Ilum/Section X/Belsavis (as in one of the vendors in each area) as recently as yesterday.
  11. When you blow out the ceiling tiles, watch the pattern of electric discharge onto the floor. Those panels are critical, and they really do something.
  12. Aside from the other advice given in this thread, isn't the Nar Shadaa bonus series around level 30+? It's been a while, but I'm relatively confident there is a planetary return series at this level.
  13. I noticed this too, specifically with Ascendancy Barrier. Must be bonus missions that never worked that we just didn't know about because they don't trigger. It's too bad the achievement system is shining such a bright light on all the things that just aren't working right with the game. Happens in most games that tack on achievement systems after the fact, and probably most that have them from the start.
  14. Okay, now it's 9:30ish central. Hopefully someone will be in the office, so maybe they'll actually see this thread. And if we're REALLY good, maybe they'll say something about it.
  15. You should, perhaps, look at the multiple other threads on this very topic over the last week or two. Including one with a reply by a dev stating that it's fixed in 2.0.
