  1. Funny do you think I'm on the ban them all camp. Totally not BTW. Two items in one package is the manufacturer actually. In theory the retailer could see harm as it may be a longer time before I return for the same product. But adjusted for reality there is zero harm between the buyer and the retailer. Same is true of the chocolate bar. Again adjusted for reality, we all have busy lives. There are certain sociological issue leaving the extra bar in the bottom of the machine (see: tainted candy at Halloween) so best case scenario I throw the extra bar out. Either way this is about the costumer relationship and your two examples to not meaningfully demonstrate an affected relationship from either party.
  2. You fail to understand. First your analogy is false, stealing from a store that's direct monastery harm. It's not like the product can be used outside this game. But more importantly your culture dear poster sucks too, your last line "You get what you pay for, but nothing more." Obviously you don't understand the concept that what we pay to BioWare is a relationship not a mere transaction, if you can't understand that you would be a terrible manager at any company. Yeah when I go to the dollar store and buy something and it breaks as I open the package it's so terrible, I won't return it I probably won't even complain to anyone. It was only a dollar that time, but you can bet I'll think twice next time I choose a dollar store. See even there a retailer even at $1 has entered a relationship. Lastly you seem to think people who exploited are somehow parasites or something. When in fact most of those same people are the player leaders of this game. They are the guild makers who train novices who are willing to listen to the top 30% of players in weeks. They are the ones evolving strat for the highest content, strat that lets more players enjoy said content. They are the players who build the rotations and theory craft the stats. They are the players who do often give gear selflessly to other players because they just want people to play with. They are the ones answering any question with patience. BioWare provides none of this. They are the players who pay the most into this game, they render services for free and they make the game better. They who do so much saw an opportunity to save on some grinding, that time they saved on grinding many reinvested in helping their fellow players learn and grow. Parasites I think not.
  3. PSA: the ENTER/RETURN key. So giant blocks of text really hard to read people. If you want your words read, please throw in some line spaces to break it up into manageable chunks. Please and thank you.
  4. 2 weeks of beta. just saying. BioWare Austin's corporate culture really kinda sucks. I'm not talking about the community team here either. The Studios lack of openness with the on going community of this game is pathetic, this is not how you treat people who have given you in many cases $1000. Honestly I feel like the head of BioWare Austin really needs to be removed, this was a terrible failure of the development process.
  5. Err well you really did not read very carefully. At no point do I declare any spec to be best for leveling. Rather I describe the feel of each spec for leveling. My comments about MM are really centered around the fact that real MM doesn't happen until level 41 and 44 where you get your follow through mechanic which is really kinda a rebirth for the discipline. Yet with Virulence you get both your dots from the start and cull at level 26. And really I just made a quick snarky story for each discipline, I felt inspire so sue me.
  6. Well yes, I do. on my MM spec. In fact here is where I argue that anyone not doing it might be crazy. I comes back to ``..... in raids, where you have to move, switch targets and whatnot?" especially your first point about movement. I think of it as cramming as much DPS between "oh, ****! another red circle." and shaving 1.5 seconds off, this seems like a really good thing. I mean yes there is argument for, seek cover or all those entrench buffs. But I'm going to be honest. Snipe proc that fits inside my rotation easily i can plan ahead for it, that's why it's called a rotation. Activating entrench; half the time my brain is a few cycles too slow, why? Because those moments aren't so predictable. Hell I'll switch any utility if I can see a clear need, but right now I'm getting more use on SOGenious. PS: for the record I started this thread because I'm starting Virulence. The rotation I talk about above is just dummy work and not something I take into ops. Currently I'm using MM for all fights that matter and will toy with Virulence on fights that don't(looking at you Red Kephis).
  7. Marksman is like a weird nerdy kid with an awkward body and some days doesn`t feel like it`s good for anything while it`s growing up. But then it becomes an adult and it leans some real smooth moves and it can really sweet talk all the ladies as a successful gentleman. I can see it not being the best idea for leveling at least not in early levels. Virulence Fights like a teenage girl not big bold hits but does serious physiological damage, then grows up to be a complicated CEO man eater of a fortune 500 company. Works for leveling but not specifically a fun spec. Engineering is that kid who builds bike ramps out of everything and it`s explosions have explosions. This behavior continues into adulthood with the worlds biggest toy collection but not necessarily professional or consistent. Though he does take really good care of his way too many kids. This one might just be the most enjoyable spec to play, though you really won`t feel like a sniper.
  8. Ok conversation I like it. Thanks for the speedy responses both of you. So move orbital Strike Check, I had It where it was simply because I wanted maximum DOT ticking and there was room between DOT reapply but if it's better as ability 1 sure thing I'll try that. You both dislike Stroke of Genius and a lot of the sniper community seems to be against it, and it is beyond me as to why. The claim that there are better utilities has yet to be proven to me and I make heavy use of the cover pulse proc in my MM too. Honestly I think there is a prejudice against the ability that has never actually been tested. I'm just going to stick with it because it shaves 1.5 seconds out of the rotation and causes an APM gain. To my knowledge there is no other utility I could be using that can be used as a DPS gain. My raid team runs under the philosophy of damage output first defensive utility second. So ignoring those first 2 things for the moment. Toraak, other then a a tiny difference here and there, you seem to be describing the exact rotation I'm using. You and I have SOS and LShot reversed but I can't see that mattering unless there is a buff I'm missing out on for SOS. I'm at 240 crit rate and need to bring it up and my gear is pretty close to what you have, Call it maybe 300 DPS lost to gear, is my other 400 DPS loss just looseness in my rotation then? unless the crit is killing me that much. Rollbacks Your last 2 lines It is unclear to me exactly what you are talking about, please elaborate.
  9. Hi all I've been forever a Marksman sniper and in the past have mostly stayed that way and spent my free time learning tanking and healing. But for this 3.0 expansion I'm going full focus on Dps, so naturally my first stop is Virulence. Unfortunately It's not going so well. I've got a decent stat balance though my crit is probably low, but I am running 99.75 accuracy so I'm not suffering misses. For perspective my MM parses are about 3.6k DPS, at 1 mill-hp kills at 4:35, with about 36-38 APM. They also have the benefit of being essentially 100% repeatable live in operations My Virulence is significantly lower though at about 3.2K, 4:56, 30 APM My Virulence rotation looks something like this: Opener: LShot(Snapshot) > CDart > CGrenade > WBlast > (sometimes Orbital strike) Cull > TDown > Coverpulse(stroke of Genious) > LShot > SShots > Cull > TDown > CDart > CGrenade > WBlast > Cull > TDown > Covered Escape > LSot(Snapshot) > SShots> Cull > TDown > CDart > CGrenade > WBlast……..Repeat Even then this is incorporating the covered escape AOE which will have limitations in live ops. Though I can use snap shot to make that up partially and keep as many instant LShots as possible. Also I've bee experimenting with replacing SShots with LShots to gain APMs, and hitting my Culls more often but this doesn't seem to make a difference. Also eventually WBlast seems to get overrun when I experiment and is still on CD when I'm reapplying DOTs. So any help advice would be a appreciated, Not sure why there don't seem to be many guides for Virulence yet.
  10. Hi there BioWare I'm experiencing some frustration with one of the Daily Quests on Yavin 4 and I suspect the majority of the community does too. The Quest (DAILY) Chopping Block has a Bonus Quest Called Secure Perimeter Defeat Revanite Droids 0/10 This bonus takes far too much time vs the time it takes to complete all the primary quests in that area. This has the effect of having players greatly disincentiveized to complete the bonus quest. I offer 2 possible suggestions. 1. decrease the number of droid to complete the bonus 2. there are far too few droids to complete the bonus in a timely manner, so add more droids to the existing mobs. it seem that there are many 3 man mobs 2 Ravanite Partisans, and 1 Revanite Follower that could also be given a Revanite Droid, these mobs seem to go down easy as is(and we are in early 3.0 here and they are already easy) so adding another unit to the mob should not have a negative net effect. thank you for your time.
  11. shameless plug. This thread should be on page 1 still.
  12. Yup still not on the same page. Perhaps it's your use of the word "filler". By my reckoning there are no fillers in MM rotation. Not even corrosive Dart do I consider to be a filler as it's DPS gains are undeniable. I feel like your perspective is that MM has sniper volley at it's core. While I will agree that SV is the ability that defines when MM rotation begins and ends as it had the longest CD. I believe that MM is defined by APM and this is maximized by committing your rotation to FT proc/CD reset. So for clarity. A FILLER is an ability one uses to fill gaps in one's rotation. But MM is 100% fluid(between 100-30%) so it has no fillers. Now what your saying is drop 2×snipe and exchange for a TD. This by my reconing depends highly on Crit happening to see s dps gain. Moreover while it may appear on a dummy parse. It is possibly more of a liabilty on an actual boss kill.
  13. Ok I'm getting closer to understanding what your doing. Unfortunately as I understand it your doing things wrong. It would seem your filler snipe there is a waste of 3 seconds, There is no reason I've been able to determine to lead TD with a snipe. In fact in my experience you never really need a filler in MM. As described in my pervious post you can insert TD anywhere in your rotation by simply following your next follow through. This makes TD a rotation expander meaning more abilities get time to cool down.
  14. OK about this: Snipe > TD > FT This makes Zero sense to me, no sense what-so-ever, nothing at all. That said I will certainly read your reply with an open mind. so Snipe does 3 things in MM - procs Follow Through but doesn't reset the CD - Shortens Ambush cast time by 0.5s/snipe up to 1s - 2 Snipes reset FT CD and proc FT so what does Snipe > TD > FT achieve? specifically what does the Snipe in there actually do? MY use of Take down goes like this, when Take Down is available you use it immediately after the next Follow Through then proceed with your rotation as normal.
  15. No cover pulse ignores the GCD and does not proc it either. First APM is the most important thing on a MM, where unlike dot specs where most of your damage is automatic, MM APM is directly proportional to total damage. Second I have no idea what you mean by instant GCD snipes. But I'll explain in more detail how I use Stroke of genius so we are on the same page. I use it for when you do 2 snipes in a row to proc both FT and 1.5 second ambush. I run the first snipe normally full 1.5 second cast then hit cover pulse and second snipe, you MUST rely on abilities que to do this or you don't bypass the GCD of the first snipe. IMO you prolly save closer to 2 seconds as your shaving time off the GCD too. Now I do use snap shot too but not in conjugation with stroke of genius normally. The reason for this is simple, if I'm entering cover then FT is probably off CD so no extra snipe is necessary to clear the FT CD. This however does modify the opener rotation a bit and I find gives me more opening burst, to many a PT tank's horror. Now this is for PvE specifically, so you claim to be able to use CP for something better but I suspect the examples are few and far between. As I've mentioned there is always going to be opportunities to Respec utilities when nessesary to best fir a fight and it doesn't take too long to spend the 7 points on a utility tree that doesn't change regardless of discipline. This use of Stoke of genius is is usable each and every complete(sniper volley CD) rotation you do in the game, making it EXTREMELY useful. Every other utility is if this or if that, There is no "if" with stroke of genius other then "if I'm in combat" it's right there in every rotation and it doesn't compromise your rotation either as the GCD on corrosive dart keeps the rotation on pace. Clearly you as I suspect a lot of people also do see stroke of genius and make the assumption that they are using it on their first snipe but as I say it's for your second snipe, and it's extremely fun thing to do, try it before you reply.
