  1. Welcome to CU/NGE 4.0. Oh wait; this is not Star Wars Galaxies. Liked SWG a lot more but this sounds like the same junk Sony did and it blew up in their face. Wish this game was more like that one. Right now, SWTOR feels like it has three classes (melee DPS, ranged DPS, and healer) with only variations on visual effects. The developers continue to simplify things and there is only going to be one class with 16 visualization themes. I don’t agree with how this level-syncing works, as described. I get fed-up waiting to get groups together to do content. I would rather solo the content then waste hours trying to get a group together. To solo heroics & flashpoints, you need an over-leveled character or the stupid helper-droid.
  2. Controls are royal fu-bar. Mouse does not track well, you can’t turn accurately, you have marginal control of your speed and targeting is based on if your circle is over the target when the button is pressed. The basic controls are identical to the existing ship based content, which are horrid. The only difference is that you are not on a rail and you have more buttons to press. You’re a flying gun-turret. You can turn faster and shot things easer if you’re at zero speed. I know plenty of players who simply do not play this because the controls are so bad and they know the developers are not going to fix them. Developers don't seek there feed back because they don't play that content.
  3. The short answer to the question, hate it. I was really hoping that Bioware had learned from the travesty of what they had done thus far and went back and had a look at successful Star War space combat games. They did not. Instead they produced something that is worse, if that is even possible, then the original space content. Plus side, no fly by rail. Minus side, controls are as bad or worse then the original content. You have to mess with your mouse settings just to make the ships flyable. Your still stuck in third person mode. These combine to make it feel like your directing a gun-turret, not flying in a space battle. The ships also fly like mobile gun- turret, does not mater the ship type. The space you have to work in is a rather thin. You can’t go very far up or down. For PVP content it may be long enough but gives you the feeling of a cramped space that you can move slowly thru. The crew component feels “forced” as these should be one or two man fighters, not something it takes several people to fly. The scale of the background objects feels off, but that is true of the entire game. Short form, this feels like capital ship battles with little guns and fragile hauls. Recommendations are the same as the original. Enable joystick controls, give a first person cockpit view, open up the environment, and fix the physics so that the ships fly more realistic. Have a look at the X-Wing series of games as well as Star Wars galaxies. You need a big PVE environment, if for no other reason to give the players a chance to learn how to fly and how the different ships work.
  4. As a causal players (say less then 15hours a week) I am questioning why subscribe. I am lucky to get one flashpoint per month. Think I have completed one operation, total. To get even one piece of “basic” gear, I am looking at months of play. Then I get told that I could gain crew skill over 400 and use of level 55 equipment without the expansion, which is a lie. Everything I have seen of the expansion, it is pretty pathetic. So enlighten me, why subscribe?
  5. I come to these boards rarely, generally looking for information. Unfortunately, there is usually no answer and usually causes more confusion. But I am running out of idea to provide feedback regarding Flashpoints and Operations. Posting here is not my choice; it is just a mater of last resort. I have been playing around with story-mode flashpoints for several months now in the hopes of getting crafting material and schematics. Something called “Biometric Crystal Alloy”. To-date, I have not seen any. Considering that my success rate for flashpoint is less then 1 in 3 and that I don’t have the time to do one except, maybe, once a week; I figure it is the luck of the draw. I can find no information that says otherwise. I come on the boards, and find players claiming that story mode flashpoint are “easy” and quick to do. That has never been my experience. I find them tiresome and long. They are not suited to somebody who gets only one or two hours a day to play. If I had my way, I would not even bother with them, but its flashpoints or player-vs-player and I detest PVP even more. There simply is nothing else to do at level 50, and that is sad. I run into players doing “speed mode”, which I have yet to figure out. Those always seem to be failures as they take off and I am left trying to fight though everything that they leave behind. They get to some boss and as I cannot get to them, they are a man short. I have had times when the other three players complete the mission and I am stuck at one of the earlier encounters. Most of the time, they get stuck at a boss and decided to kick me for “not doing my job”. I also run into groups that kick me before I have even loaded into the flashpoint. I don’t usually get an explanation save one time when I was told that I was “under-geared”. That was a story-mode flashpoint, by the way. I look though my gear. It is loaded up with crafted level 50 purple armor pieces and modifiers, leaves me starching my head as to what is acceptable gear and how to get it. To date, I have found nothing that I can actually get that is better save for the daily level 51 armor pieces and that’s only by a few points. The experience within the flashpoints is generally not favorable, ignoring actions of other players. Load screens take anywhere between one and three minutes. If there is an encounter where there is a bunch of NPC’s fighting each other, things get so slow that I am basically fighting blind. Frame rate is fine but everything moves in bursts with all the practical effects going off at all once. Boss encounters tend to be passable, as I don’t feel I am fighting completely blind. I just can’t count on anything being done in a timely manner. I have had even less experience with operations. The one I got into took over five hours and we got to a point that it was clear we could not complete it. Mostly we had no clue what to do and had two players jumping back and forth between the game and some guide. Did not help us much as the guides where conflicting and likely out of date. Better in-game documentation would have helped. Group-finder has not exactly been a blessing. Rather it has been more of a curse. You get dropped into a random flashpoint that you are not familiar with and be expected to perform as if you had run the flashpoint a dozen times. Since it is story-mode, those “daily commendation” are pretty much useless anyway as they cannot be turned into something that can acutely improve your chances. Outside of flashpoints or when doing a lower level flashpoint solo, performance is fine even during problem encounters described earlier. The sole exception of sporadic server connection drops lasting 10 to 30 seconds. I don’t see any hardware or home network issues on my side. Ping rates are normally “3 bars”, though Window performance monitor does suggest there is a bottleneck somewhere up stream from my network. The forums are inconsonant in there usefulness. Players tend to use acronyms that are rarely defined or used consistently. Acronyms like “CC”, “HM”, “BH” and so on. The recommendation tends to require long blocks of on on-line time that I just do not have. So there you go. I have no idea if anyone else has seen the same behavior and I am not expecting anyone to come up with any suggestions. I just needed to say the piece. I would recommend, to Bioware, to put in some in-game methods of providing feedback. The short little surveys like where used during pre-release might work. Sorry if I got a little long, lot of pent up frustration.
  6. It would suit me just fine. Right now, I get booted from story-mode flashpoints because I am “under-geared”. Should not be the case as it is all purple level 50 crafted. Sorry, it is not worth my effort to play “gear-wars”. Gear should never be a restriction to content, but right now it is. If this continues, I am done with flashpoints and operations.
  7. Another operation, yawn, another thing that won’t get done. Takes too long for something I don’t care for.
  8. I would like to know how to remove the level limit on the tool. I have a desire to complete lower level heroics and flashpoints with a group but they are not even an option. Yes, I could probably solo most of them, but that’s not the point. I want to be able to do the missions as they are intended, with a group.
  9. Sorry, even with LV4 ship equipment, except for the escort mission, I find space missions not possible. I do fine with a flight simulator, but this thing can't even remain on target long enough to get a shot in.
  10. Don’t know what’s going on, but elite MOB’s I could fight and usually win are completely decimating me now. I am actually blocked in two solo-quests because I can’t beat the elite or the two strong MOB’s. It may be ok for PVP, but something is off in PVE and its making things a lot harder.
  11. Not happy with the “new” mortar volley. I liked the old timing. Now, the sounds and animation are just too fast. I believe that the one minute cool-down more then justifies a hard hit. Mortar volley does not seem to hit as hard or have the same stun effect.
  12. Did not see this post before. I am with Onyx's group. Signed The last Mayor of Temenos Island, Awed Nive The last Mayor of Riverhaven on Starsider, Cabod Nive
  13. Bioware may say the population is “fine” but I have had two friends quit the game because the place was “empty”. They wanted to play with other players, but they rarely saw anybody. I did go and help them, but my level was so far over theirs, it was no fun. All I could do was follow them around and rescue them if they accidentally got into a fight with more MOB’s then they intended. I would prefer to be doing RP with other players, but I rarely see anybody. There is defiantly a problem with players being too scattered across planets and servers.
  14. Don’t force me to PVP to get PVE gear. I don’t want to ever be in a situation that I am handicapped because I choose not to PVP. Also, some none combat PVP would be nice. I would much rather play a game of chess then figure out who mashes buttons the best. I am no good at button mashing thus not very interested in current PVP.
  15. I have just about had it with datacrons. The little bonus they give is not worth the time/frustration to get them. I am not super-maro and I don’t have the time going after something that requires me to make a series of precision moves to accomplish. A keyboard is not a game controller; it does not support use of keys in combination (except shift, control, and alt). Depending on how your keyboard works, you can be holding down “W” then press “space”. Either the first key, “W”, is the key that counts or the last key is the key that counts, not both. My keyboard, it is the first key. Pressing the space bar while holding any other key, only the key being held counts. Net result, I can’t jump forward. Oh, I can’t get onto the balloon thing.
