  1. I'm returning to SWTOR for the expansion for the first time in many years. I want to refresh my memory by playing through a class story. I want it done as soon as possible so I bought a datacron that boosts my character level to 70. However I came across something called level sync from this forum that supposedly 'lowers' your level to the planet's highest level. Does that mean my level 70 character will play like level 10 in Korriban for instance? If that's the case I don't see any point in creating a level 70 character since it's expensive. What's the fastest way to go through a class storyline?(I've already played through all class stories multiple times, I just want it done as fast as possible?) With level 70 boost I was looking forward to something like this: set up a character skill tree and never look at it again - get the main mission-run to the boss ignoring all the enemy fire-kill the boss in 10 sec-watch the cutscene-repeat but this seems not feasible with level sync.
  2. People vote against their own interest because they (falsely) believe that their choices are for their own interests, often duped by media and pretentious politicians; Sith Empire and the Siths openly do actions that are directly against interests of the majority such as killing people off by whims. Feudal structure didn't last when the French revolution broke out. We are talking about a future where interstellar communications and travels are norms. As long as a substitution for the empire exists in the republic, people can't seriously support the empire. Nationalism and Patriotism only work with a notion that the person with zeal feels belonging to the nation and willing to sacrifice much for its good; the empire is a group for and only for siths. Furthermore the empire's bureaucratic structure isn't effective at all when its members are ruled by fears and whims and betrayals are common. Every government organization will be deterring one another in a competition under such a setting. A good real life example would be north korea and south korea. Give the citizens of NK a choice to either live in SK or NK; the majority will, despite their brainwashes and extreme nationalism and all, will choose to live in SK if given a choice because NK is a nation centred around preserving the vested interests of few elites.
  3. Cuz fiction; honestly I felt and believed the same thing you brought up. It's different from Nazi Germany; there is no such thing as an evil empire in real world; even the most evil empires treat their citizens well. The empire and the whole Sith codes are jokes only passable in the realm of fictions. A nation that endorses abuses and betrayals can't last.
  4. Were I in the MC's shoes I would have let the eternal fleet lay waste to the republic/empire until both factions unconditionally surrender. You don't even have to take blame; just announce your ascension to the eternal throne after the republic and empire lost strengths to fight back. Quite contrived ending we have as I see it.
  5. Played upto Chapter 8 so far and I killed Arcann, Velyn, Senya, Koth, and Scorpio. Was it just me who couldn't stand all of them? Thank Bioware I finally get to kill all those annoying characters. There were like 3 times more annoying when you play as an evil character and try to kill them but they always trick you, escape you, and defeat you even as a player you know that they have words betrayal written all over their face; it was so frustrating. I would say this expansion is great just for letting us kill them in the end
  6. On a serious note, hasn't it always been those same problems with Bioware writers since Mass Effect 3? I am not even disappointed since I fully expected this. Shepard is an inept commander and still wins because the reapers act devoid of any tactical sense. I especially loved how they conveniently brought the citadel to earth because the alliance was about to launch a massive scale attack on earth; why not let your enemy hit two targets in one go? Reapers never bothered to shut down relays to isolate the alliance fleets into a system while they had the control of the citadel, a control tower of mass relay networks. You see, the reapers had to remove their brain circuits to swoop down to THAT level of intelligence in order for Shepard the idiot to win the war. Then Dragon Age Inquisition came along. You are an inept Inquisitor who has risen to a station that warrants jealousy of the powerful nobles whose lives you have saved from Corypheus. You fail to capitalize on your advantage nor turn the mass support into any political power as your buddy Divine seems to be the only political ally you've secured over the last 2 years. Then you discover a new threat of Qunari who wants to kill your political opponents as a pre-step before an invasion. You again fail to use that advantage to either let Qunaris kill your political enemies nor secure political allies by saving their *** for the second time. Instead, you thwart the threat of Quanari, save your political enemy's asses for the second time, gets blamed for the whole thing for who knows why, then gets stripped of your power and authority as a gratitude. Both Shepard in ME3 and the Inquisitor have done enough explanations for what the result of Bioware writers trying to depict a smart protagonist is. Why would you be surprised if the Outlander turns out to be another brainless puppet swayed by most obvious backstabbers appearing as your comrades along the path of a contrived plot? It didn't take me by surprise.
  7. How do I upvote the OP? My sentiments throughout the expansion perfectly mirrored one to one.
  8. I guess it can't be helped with all classes sharing the same storyline, but don't you agree that the DS play has become diluted too much towards lesser evil while LS play has stayed more or less the same in KOTFE? I'm sure many players who have been playing as DS would share the following sentiment: My DS female sith lord had known Scorpio would betray all along and wanted to have her killed as soon as securing the Gemini prime. She would have ordered Koth executed for deserting after Scorpio had been driven back from the system of the Gravestone; she wasn't sure if Koth would betray, but would have killed him for a precaution. She knew that Senya might try to save her son and daughter, so would have left her back at the base or try to execute her if she doesn't comply. I'm not crying about the player's power fantasy not being served on plate; I'm rather saying these actions I've listed would have been in accordance to what my DS sith lord has been acting like in her class story. If you have played as a DS Sith Inquisitor you know you are the one who usually stabs people in the back rather than the one being stabbed in the back. In KOTFE you are the one who always gets betrayed and fooled to no end. Koth sneaking into the Gravestone undetected with a full crew members of his own and taking control over the Gravestone with such a small force(or did he smuggle an army in unnoticed?) was the culmination of this tomfoolery. Senya escaping at the end with Arcann couldn't be prevented at that point so it's sits fine for me, but other misfortunes(in fact including Senya' interference from the start) could have been prevented had my character acted more like a sith lord she always was instead of a LS character with a vile tongue. Senya reminded me of the player being able to refuse LIara from seeing her mother in Mass Effect 1. I know DS and LS options can offer nothing more than an illusion of choices due to budget reasons, but make it appear less apparent at least. Let players have an option to order Koth killed after Gravestone is back online, and let Koth overhear it through comm channel and later take over the Gravestone, blaming the player for stabbing him in the back first. This way the result is the same but at least the DS players don't feel like a wussy who is all words and no actions. For now being a DS is all about throwing insults and killing insignificant side characters from time to time, and getting duped all the time same as LS options. It would have been OK had it been this way from the start, but the extent of evil deeds and cunning by the player in each class story was much greater.
  9. No, you are 100% justified. Don't try to understand Bioware's profound storytelling for there are none to be found. Instead, look down upon their pitiful attempts to retcon the story to minimize development efforts and introduce some fleshy looking characters to the game. Ever since Mass Effect 2, Bioware gave up on logical flow of plots and heavily relied on shallow, cliched characters to make sale. Was there ever a reason to any of Bioware's recent game plots? Nope. The major problem with Bioware is that they don't even bother explaining the retconning which is flipping the bird to fans who actually care. They will retcon stories without consistency and just throw the new setting to your face without an explanation. What's more concerning is the fact that these lousy plots actually do sell well to the audience.
  10. Are we talking about political power or combat strength? You seem to be mixing both, which is clouding the main points. If latter, Sith Inquisitor isn't the most powerful being in SWTOR. 1. Vitiate is the most powerful being, no brainer here. 2. Reborn Revan. SI and multiple other force users were needed to defeat him. 3. JK or SW. JK defeated the voice of the emperor. SW defeated the voice of the emperor controlled by Sel-Makor. Voice of the emperor is obeyed as the emperor himself and is able to strike down anyone disobeying him due to his immense power according to the codex. This doesn't confirm, but implies, that the voice of the emperor is probably stronger than any other dark council members. Baras was nearly named the voice of the emperor because he had both the power and prophetic ability thanks to the entity, but ultimately was defeated by SW. 4. Probably SI. SI defeated Thenaton, a dark council member but he was not as influential nor powerful to dominate the council as Baras and he has not displayed any feats to suggest he is particularly stronger than other council members. This probably means he is weaker than the voice of the emperor. 5. Other dark council members and powerful jedi including JS. This is how I would rank force users. SI didn't defeat enemies as powerful as the enemies JK and SW defeated, so there is no way to rank him above JK and SW. He is more knowledgeable in ways of the force but if we were to rank force users based on their specialization which is really equivocal in terms of power, then Jedi Sage and bunch of other magical force users could rank higher than JK and SW which doesn't sound right.
  11. All 12 members of the old dark council once plotted to overthrow Vitiate. The moment they entered the imperial citadel to confront Vitiate, all simply dropped dead without any resistance, and their leader Darth Lokess was teleported to the depths of the Citadel against her will by the emperor to be tortured for years to come. Vitiate also broke will and dominated 8 thousands Sith lords in Nathema in order to force them into a ritual that would make him immortal. These events show that the emperor is nearly omnipotent in comparison to other force users. His 'return' in Rise of the Emperor is rather unimpressive in retrospect of his power shown before. He is either strong nor acting smart in his recent moves. In the new storyline he failed to dominate any of the dark council members or imperial leaders in significant position to sway the balance of war he is waging against entire galaxy. He ended up consuming Ziost; so what? He turned every living being in the galaxy his enemy. He could have consumed a planet or two with much more ease had he done those rituals before confronting the republic. And why the hell is Vitiate trying to commence his ritual before defeating the republic? He could have finished the war first while hiding his intentions, and then prepare for his ritual when there is none standing in his way. Instead, he chooses to withdraw from the empire which significantly weakens his grip of the empire and the empire's strength which make it harder for him to carry out his ultimate plans. This feels like the reapers in Mass Effect all over again. 1. present an enemy so powerful that it is logically impossible to defeat simply in order to impress the gamers. 2. when the moment of confrontation comes, start reconning. Significantly weaken the enemy and force him to act utterly stupid so players can beat him.
  12. Would your explanations stand while leveling? All 3 specs seem to be effective depending on types and the number of enemies I face, it seems, and I can't figure out which is the quickest way to level. Thanks, everyone!
  13. It's not hard, but it is harder than other classes for sure. It's been this way for a long time. Your DPS is similar to other classes and you have less defensive abilities and not much healing capabilities. I made my assassin to level 60 without ever having to regenerate health. With marauder it's regen after every single battle.
  14. Hi, I'm new to mara and have no idea which spec to choose for PvE. Could you give me a rundown of each of the specs and tell me what gives the highest dps? Thanks!
