  1. My graphics settings make zero difference to my FPS issues. All maxed out I get the same fps (or even slightly better fps) than I do with all set to off and all at minimum. In every other game I have played, the graphics settings have a massive impact on game performance. Not in this game. I am just clueless as to why this is, and have tried *everything* on these forums to resolve it. Bioware have given us very little support and all the useful advice has come from gamers themselves. This is just not good enough. I want to keep playing, and my machine exceeds the 'recommended' specs, but the support is almost non existant.
  2. I honestly don't see the 'great story' that everyone keeps going on about. There is nothing 'great' about it. They are just standardised stories, and fairly dull ones at that, designed to get you to go to the correct levelling planets. I'm very very sceptical as to the value of devoting so much resources to this aspect of the game's development. A story can only go so far and thats fine for a single player with a one off fee, but unless BW are intending to continue significantly updating this part of the game with every patch, at great cost, then for me, its every bit as gimmicky and irrelevant to the long term success of the game as Tortage is in AOC. This aspect of the game will not keep people paying a monthly fee, how can it? A more appropriate way to spend the money would have been to hone the gameplay in this title so that its utterly perfect and smooth and comparable to WOW's seamless combat and fluidity. This would have allowed the gameplay itself to have been the hook that keeps people playing, and everything else could then flow from that solid foundation, as it has with WOW. Perhaps a little more innovation wouldn't have hurt aswell. WOW is losing subs and this is because a LOT of People are bored of the format despite the continuing quality of the product. New ideas are needed to get those people who are bored with WOW to pay for this game. However, in this game, compared with WOW, all we have got is the same old end game/levelling process with less features, more flaws, and inferior gameplay to go with it. The story is really all that this game has over WOW. Disappointing.
  3. No. The performance of this game in my system leaves a lot to be desired particularly at end game where pvp is 50% of what you can do - my fps in most pvp situations is very poor despite exceeding the recommended specs. And apart from the voice acted stories designed to get you to go to the right levelling planets, there is nothing particularly new or exciting about this game. At end game, if you are bored of other MMOs you will be bored of this game too. There is nothing new, and there is a lot that is inferior to other MMO products.
  4. Yes this gets on my wick too. It astounds me that the developers of these games are so damn unimaginative that they just copy whatever crap was mildly successful in other games right down to the stupid colour of the stupid items. It utterly trivialises and saps the fun out of the process of getting gear when the top level of gear is so easy to acquire and its basically the same as the **** you have been wearing for weeks. Sheesh I remember the days when epic gear in MC was such a status symbol in WOW. It was cool and everyone craved that gear. Now you're weird if you aren't decked out in epics. It sucks. And so do the developers who have the collective imagination and creativity of a squashed fly.
  5. I'm farrrrr more interested in user reviews as the users actually play the game properly, and aren't unduly influenced by money and cronyism. Every major release game gets good reviews these days. That should give you food for thought. Ever thought why COD:MW3 got 5 star ratings absolutely everywhere despite it being almost identical to COD:MW2? The player's opinions are far more accurate and far more important, and the reviews are not good for this game. I rate this game as a 2/5 at best, and I would have done anything for it to have been a 5/5.
  6. Yeah its horrible but for me its very closely linked to FPS. I feel that, due to **** fps in pvp, its pointless trying to click on players who are jerking around the screen. My solution has been to basically scrap any ideas about healing and just nuke the **** out of everything i see. This also makes my fps issues less notable as Im playing with no skill or thought whatsoever and therefore don't need to worry about reacting quickly. Yet another reason why this game isn't fit to polish WOW's boots. And Im talking about gameplay... just gameplay... nothing else. I think its basically impossible to play WOW, and then come to this game and actually enjoy the gameplay unless you are used to playing like crap and don't notice the difference anyway.
  7. Yeah I encountered this part of the 'story' on my sith sorcerer aswell and it almost made me quit the game on the spot. I honestly felt a little bit exploited lolz. The stories have novelty value, but they are very very one dimensional - at least the ones I have played through. They are basically just the string along which the game tells you where to go. The story is almost an afterthought. I did sort of enjoy the Jedi Knight story but it all got ruined when the final part was bugged to hell so that it took me hours to get through it thanks to med centre spawns taking me ahead of where I was supposed to be and locking me there as a result, and then on my final *epic* fight with the emperor, the game bugged again and I one shotted him. Just a total load of balls. Have honestly never encountered so many bugs in any game ever ever ever - and nothing even comes close.
  8. I'm delighted that so many people are getting wonderful FPS. Its very hard for me to accept that when I do not. As stated earlier, I get 1fps in a crowded Ilum, 5-10 fps in fleet, and 7-15 fps during combat in warzones. So its unplayable in PVP, despite the fact that at totally maxed out settings I get 50-60 fps in questing areas. My main problem is that Bioware have done nothing to assist me. They have recommended a few useless tweaks but there has been no support of note at all, and my system specs easily meet the recommended specs. The players of this game have done far more than the developers to come up with ideas to boost FPS in pvp zones. I have tried everything that has been posted on these forums over the past month or two. Some things have helped, and some have not but ultimately this game does not run well for me. Comparing WOW's pvp at ultra settings and all maxed with what I get in this game is just a dead cert no contest. Perfect smoothness versus horrifying clunkiness and stutter. I'm officially at the end of the old tether. I have less than a week and after that, I'm gone for good unless I get some decent support.
  9. I agree with almost everything. The knockbacks aren't so bad. In all honesty, the game would be diabolical without the brief fun they provide. It just totally baffles me how this stuff isn't thought of WAYYYYYYY prior to release and implemented before release. Its as if these people are just totally oblivious to World of Warcraft and the things it did to make itself successful. This game is basically WOW for people who don't like WOW and don't realise how good WOW is. You cannot play WOW, and then play this game, without realising how horribly deficient this game is in just about every department I can care to think of. I think the only thing they have on it is Huttball, which I quite like. Who's taking bets on the new battleground that will come with Mop and the extent to which it will resemble huttball?!
  10. Yes, its a total disaster and a total joke. Spent several hours playing wzs tonight and 50% of games were just a revolving door with pugs rotating in and out constantly. It totally ruins the game. These people need to be punished. Furthermore, premades should not be allowed to queue into pugs. This is just stupid. And while you are at it, please nerf the hell out of healers and reduce the effectiveness of expertise. A team with two or three geared/competent healers in it makes it almost impossible to kill *anything*. I'm just appalled that all of this stuff needs to be stated. A cursory look at the history of WOW's battleground PVP should have alerted the makes of this game as to what happens when these issues are left unnaddressed. As with so many things I have lost count, this game fails to deliver.
  11. Having serious issues in Warzones and Ilum is totally unplayable here. The stutter when you open up a the character pane is not the problem, but its a good way of reproducing what happens on my system when another player appears in my local vicinity. I get exactly the same stutter, and this gets worse the longer the client is active. In pvp this is very annoying, and even when questing, I don't appreciate having my gameplay freeze when another player appears nearby. This is supposed to be an MMO isnt it? Another way to recreate the problem is by summoning and unsummoning your companion by mounting and dismounting. This also provokes a serious stutter in my play. Its very annoying and I can't help but think this is related to the fact that my FPS goes through the floor when im in a warzone. Huttball isn't too bad, and voidstar isn't great, but the civil war is very poor. I'm pretty sure its the cannons firing overhead that causes the issues, as if I disable this action through renaming the file where those effects come from, the FPS is suddenly excellent. Same in all other warzones. If I disable the effects file, my fps goes from being 'clunky' to being super smooth and 'wow like'. However, the downside is that I cant see what's going on so its not an efficient workaround. The other issue worth noting, from my perspective anyway, is that my FPS is poor in warzones no matter what I set my graphics to. Highest or absolute lowest, it doesn't matter, so it seems, for me anyway, that this issue isn't a graphics issue. So to sum up, my game plays perfectly well in solo situations, but in warzones its poor, in Ilum its unplayable. Still awaiting a response from Bioware as they have provided no significant assistance to me on this issue as of yet either through the forums or in-game tickets. I've tried every tweak in the books and the problem remains, and I also meet the 'recommended' specs. My account runs out next week and if there is no fix or at least an acknowledgement of the issue I won't be renewing Im afraid.
  12. Following on from the discussions on this thread: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=249030 Are the dev team aware of, or working on, the issue outlined in this thread? A fix for this problem would transform my playing experience from being *below average* to *excellent*. Unfortunately, there has been no message from the dev team thus far. My subscription ends in a week, and I'm sorry to say that unless there is somethin... anything, on this specific issue, I'm out for the forseeable future. Its not an ultimatum or anything but the problem is so significant for me, that its making me not want to play. Its just that simple.
  13. This annoys the hell out of me aswell. Its just one of a massively long list of irritating oversights and bugs that detracts from the overall gaming experience for me. I bang into a new bug/glitch on an hourly basis, and I'm already *working around* dozens. The camera is very important as its the direct link between you are your character. If its behaving weirdly, or behaving in an annoying way (smart camera resetting on movement for example) then it diminishes the whole game as a direct result. The combination of this and countless other small things is why this game is described constantly as 'clunky'. It just seems like a lack of attention to detail from the developers.
  14. I really agree strongly with the OP. I just found myself looking into my number X champions bag a few days ago, and realising I was doing exactly what I did in WOW - in grinding boring PVP for gear and there was no real reason to do so in this game other than so I didnt get facerolled by other players in the said boring pvp. There's nothing to aim for. As an added issue, I feel that WOW gameplay is more inherently fun, responsive, smooth and competitive, so I'm just finding myself asking myself "what the hell I am doing in playing this game?" At present, I feel that the only difference is that its a) new, b) star wars, and c) has huttball, which is a great warzone. That's it. In basically every other aspect of endgame that I can think of, but particularly in the gameplay itself, I'd just rather be playing WOW. And this is coming from someone who swore he would never play WOW again. Edit: I want to add I have a 50 on both empire and republic side and have zero desire to level again through exactly the same process. I'd rather be repeatedly punched in the face by Mike Tyson.
  15. Eve's pvp is good but, in my view, this primarily comes from the adrenalin rush you get from the fact that if you get blown to bits and or pod killed you stand to lose an awful lot in the game. There's no simple respawn in that your ship is scrap metal and all your mods might be toasted costing you a veritable fortune. This is what makes EVE pvp good, in my opinion anyway. I always preferred the speed and responsiveness of WOW arena play. Its the one MMO environment that I have seen where genuine skill and team play is totally apparent, and bad players get facestomped into the floor and good players tend to flourish. Its not perfect of course, but its the best Ive played, and I really struggle to downgrade to games like this for PVP. Its like when you're used to racing in a ferrari, you're suddenly asked to race in a Ford Escort with a mangled gearbox. I don't want to be hyper critical of SWTOR as I'm enjoying it for what it is, but if they want my sub they have a lot of work to do. I'm already finding endgame extremely uninspiring - and that includes warzone pvp. Its just WOW lite, with a Star Wars skin.
