  1. so here's my experience if anyone cares. should be pretty easy for devs/testers to replicate but maybe its some sort of intermittent bug idk: Level 75 Madness Sorc with ilvl 306 gear, Lana as healer at companion-level 30. Try to solo heroic 2+ alderaan star fortress. Its tough but doable (at least up until the final boss). Level 80 Madness Sorc with ilvl 320 gear, Lana as healer at companion-level 50. Same thing, try to solo heroic 2+ aleraan star fortress. Can't even make it past the first gold knight subboss. Trash normals and silvers are SIGNIFICANTLY harder to kill. I believe what's happening here is that the scaling algorithm thinks that Level 75/ilvl 306 should "feel" the same as a Level 80/ilvl 330 (or whatever the highest tier gear is for level 80 now) , and scales the health/damage of enemies accordingly. In my personal opinion, this is never how an RPG should work. If I gain character levels, and improve my gear (technically 320 gear is "better" than 306 gear), my character should never feel WEAKER, but that's exactly what the current level scaling algorithm apparently does. I don't know the answer to this, but I know that I personally don't like how things are working now. Leveling up my character and buying new, better gear, should NEVER make my character feel weaker, even (I would say especially) in level-scaled content Just my $0.02.
  2. So here's the problem. This is not a short-term flaky CRL issue. The certificates in question were revoked TWO YEARS AGO due to the PRIVATE KEYS BEING COMPROMISED. This means that a malicious actor can man-in-the-middle your traffic and steal your login credentials. This would be bad enough, but maybe you don't care about your SWTOR account credentials being stolen. The bigger problem is that said malicious actor can send crafted packets back to your machine to take advantage of exploits in your machine. Put simply, running this application puts your entire system at risk. Look, I know that updating certificates is a huge PITA. But they've had two years to deal with this. They need to do it already. These certificates aren't magically going to be removed from CRLs tomorrow. The private keys are public. There's no way to fix that short of using a new certificate.
  3. DigiCert, which acquired Symantec's certificate business last August, announced Wednesday that approximately 20,000 Symantec certificates, including GeoTrust, Thawte and RapidSSL brands, were to be revoked because their private keys had been exposed
  4. For the love of god, update your damn certs. Microsoft started work on deprecating these certs over 2 years ago. Debian/Gentoo have already removed these certs from their distros. From the Microsoft blog: "Starting in September 2018, Microsoft began deprecating the SSL/TLS capability of Symantec root certificates due to compliance issues. Google, Mozilla, and Apple have also announced deprecation plans related to Symantec SSL/TLS certificates. Symantec cryptographic certificates are used in critical environments across multiple industries. In 2017, DigiCert acquired Symantec’s web security business that included their certificate authority business. Since the compliance issues were identified, Microsoft has been engaged with Symantec and DigiCert to uphold industry-wide compliance expectations and maintain customer trust. DigiCert created the deprecation schedule below in partnership with Microsoft to maintain trust in the industry while minimizing impact to our mutual customer"
  5. /sign would love to see companion emotes added to the game
  6. I don't get the joke? Appearance modification stations are already in-game, so the UI work is already done, and with Cartel Market companions already a thing, whatever work may have been necessary for non-story-related companions has already been done. I honestly don't see why this wouldn't be an easily implementable low-hanging fruit
  7. Why not allow us to create custom companions using something similar to the appearance modification stations? Doesn't seem like it would be too much work.
  8. well time for me to eat some humble pie ... turns out my problem was my 5Ghz wireless connection (despite windows claiming that everything was fine). I set my AP to the 2.4Ghz SSID (stronger signal) and everything is working fine now. Sorry EAware!
  9. oh yeah derp! yeah that explains why my traceroutes go through fine without any packet/probe loss well the login works fine, i'm getting the "inifinite spinning thing" that others are complaining about. Seems like I can make it through to EA, no obvious routing issues (traceroute is showing all probes returning with < 100ms roundtrip times), c'mon EA fix your crap!
  10. anyone else still having problems? I've been having problems for the past two days. A pathping to 159.153.92.28 shows 100% packet loss on three hops on some routers from "zayo.com" : [EDIT, adding more complete output in case it helps in any way] Computing statistics for 425 seconds... (god how I loathe BGP)
  11. bump for great justice! Page 34 was too far down for this epic thread to stay buried. Bioware, give us Baldur's Gate III on the CE vendor already (or if not that, perhaps some housing decos?)
  12. Resubbed for RotHC, bought $80 worth of CC, but I've cancelled my recurring payment (3 days left) and won't buy any more CC until they start updating the CE Vendor more often and with more stuff. 1 new dye, 1 recolored eyepatch, and 1 pet (given for free to all subscribers at a certain point) since launch is not good enough for me to continue giving EA more of my hard earned money. Have fun everyone, I'll still log in as an f2p account, so no, you can't have my stuff; maybe I'll resub for the next expansion.
  13. what, no thread bump from Andryah? Here, let me get you riled up: WE ARE ENTITLED TO CE VENDOR UPDATES!!!!! .. and go!
  14. fixed it for ya Now your statement makes sense!
  15. devs commented on this already; They know returns from slicing lockboxes are too low, but they need to take some time to make sure they fix it correctly so they don't overcorrect and wind up with the slicing situation at launch. edit: here's the post from Amber, at the bottom she mentions the slicing lockbox issue: edit2: here's a better quote
