  1. This is a new and refreshing statement about a new game TOR wil do just fine.
  2. I'm running with the following spec: i5 3570k @ 3.4 Ghz 8GB RAM 128 GB SSD HD GTX 670 (overclocked edition) When running around alone questing I get around 50+ FPS. Doing content with more then 3-4 players it drops drastically to 20-30 and even dips even lower in Warzones. I've done all the tweaks I can find including Windows XP mode, turning off Ambient Oclusion with nVidia Inspect and running Game Boost in gaming mode (turns off services I dont need). I wish that the FPS was a bit more stable since its really annoying running around with 60+ FPS and then it drops because I enter combat.
  3. One can only hope they will do free roaming PvE space at some point - that would be awesome. I'm still looking forward to the new space combat even though I'm not keen on PvP for most parts, but I'll give it a shot
  4. I never understood why they removed this option. I can understand why they removed the option to kill your companion, but I'd still like to see that re-implemented at some point.
  5. I agree on number 9. The engine was a poor choice. Or the network part of it was horrible implemented and/or maintained. Something is surely wrong somewhere when people like me have low FPS in combat and avoid PvP for that reason (worst part is, I actually like the PvP in this game, but it gets unplayable/enjoyable at higher levels with more stuff going on). The rest of your post is a blind rant aimed at the Cartel Market / Legacy which is optional. Do it if you have the cash / credits or dont. Its not standing in your way of the actual content (unless you're a F2P, but there should be a limit somewhere).
  6. As stated before, I'm running on Windows 7 Ultimate with zero extra stuff installed.. Only running with Skype, 3DOverride (to force the triple buffering for smoother camera) and Game Booster 3 (to shut down all non-gaming services when I start windows). That hardly qualifies as "any ones taste", but mere basics for a gamer. No Steam, no P2P services or anything of that kind. Just those few applications I listed. Even have to run the game in Windows XP Service 2 mode or I lose even more FPS.
  7. Any chance you are running a ATI/AMD graphics card? On my nvidia card it does not make any difference. In response to someone else, I am running with pre-rendered frames set to 1 (the best setting for my rig - the mouse is pretty smooth and it helped a bit with overall FPS). I manually had to override the Ambient Occlusion in the defalt SWTOR profile as well with the Inspector tool.
  8. @ OwenBrooks: Its just the people coming in with one-liners that I do not like. People like you, that state their system spec and their experience is actually helpful in my ever going search for a "fix". I am also running in Windowed Fullscreen mode since normal Fullscreen will disable triple buffering (need to have a third party program running in the background to keep it enabled - 3DOverride) resulting in stuttering and lag when moving the camera. And the overall FPS is higher when running in Windowed Fullscreen as well - should be the other way around like any other engine. I have also tried various settings with SWTOR Unleashed (the RAM drive setup) without much results. Seems you need more then 8GB to make full use of that utility since all player animations and effects quickly fills up (no point in using all RAM for it since the game does need around 1.5-2 GB of free room for the two swtor.exe processes).
  9. Time travel and Star Wars just dont mix. I'm still having a hard time dealing with the Star Trek episodes and movies that centers around that without actually giving a good explanation except for the "gravitational pull of a star"- just feels a bit too much considering its trying to be realistic in alot of aspects. Star Wars is more about being a soap opera in space. We dont need to travel back and forth to get a good story or even twists.
  10. Should have stated "Windows 7 Ultimate" in my post, will edit it And to all the people that dont have problems - good for you. But some of use have a problem. Nothing you can say will help us otherwise, so its just trolling on your part.
  11. I'm having the same problems with FPS in combat. Running around by myself its pretty stable at 60 FPS. Getting into a Warzone or do content that req. more then 4 people and the FPS goes down to 25-40. If I didn't knew better it seems the engine is loading all the effects / particles every time it needs to render it. Something is def. weird about the way the engine handle it. And just in case anyone is wondering, my rig: i5 3570k @ 3.4Ghz, GTX 670 Phantom 2GB version, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 128Gb SSD and Windows 7 Ultimate (the version with less random stuff installed). Even with that I've updated every driver and bios (even my GTX 670 card had an update - yes, the bios - not only the drivers for Windows), removed all services that is not required for gaming, tweaked the Nvidia settings with Nvidia Inspector, running with the Override3D program and Game Booster right after Windows is loaded in. Even had to copy the game over to my old HHD from my new SSD to gain more FPS overall (which is weird). On the bright side, Far Cry 3, Crysis 3 and every other MMO I play is running at a steady 60 FPS. Only time I experience lag or stuttering is when I enter major cities with tons of people around (like 20+ minimum). Hopefully the update, or enhancement, to the graphics in 2.3 will help. But I'm not being very optimistic considering they already have been trying to fix it before (anyone remember the "new" shadows?).
  12. Then why on earth did you come back? You knew it was theme park the first time around. Huge changes in mechanics and the story telling aspect is not going to happen anytime soon. And no, you can play perfectly fine without buying a single coin. Only one of the reputations are directly linked to Cartel Marked, rest is from doing ingame activities. Haters are gonna hate I guess
  13. And if they only made robes and cloaks some other guy would moan about it. Its a lose / lose situation. I'm glad they put new stuff in and there is enough robes if thats your style.
  14. Sounds like a simple solution actually. But to prevent people from running around naked, how about they only recieve bolster if the equiped gear in a slot has no expertise on it? That way: - Naked people are truly naked. - Newly dinged 55's have a fighting chance. - Anyone that farmed the best set, is still King of the Hill (but only slightly)
