  1. In no particular order of importance: 1. Instatravel from planet to planet. E.g. Make orbital stations and starports optional. Star Wars Galaxies had a decent system for this: you could either launch your ship and fly manually (which was awesome) or you could use a terminal. 2. Galactic trade network needs the ability to search for item name and a return to being able to pick your subcategory (e.g. chest, hands, etc.) 3. Speeders are ugly. The only one I've seen that I like is the standard taxi you see on a lot of planets that looks similar to the speeders on Endor. 4. Speeders should come earlier on. I didn't mind walking speed for the first two months but at this point I find it really, really tedious. 5. It's SW, allow us to turn in missions via holocall. If we have to deliver data allow us to do it "electronically." Walking back to the same NPC over and over is an incredibly boring time sink. Time sinks can be done well if you can make the player feel like they're accomplishing something in the meantime - this is classical conditioning 101 and it's a basic premise of MMO psychology. SWG had a fairly involved crafting system and it took quite a bit of time to mine resources, buff up, craft subcomponents, craft items, craft factory crates, make sure maintenence is paid, etc. But the whole time you felt like you were actively working towards something and this made it interesting. 6. Space in this game is uninspiring to say the least. An Eve (lite) or SWG style space system would be phenomenal. No rails - an actual open, uninstanced space sim with regenerating PvE content (such as static battleships). 7. Character customization. It sucks looking like a quarter of the other characters you see. It also sucks not being able to use a variety of weapons. Having everything severely class restricted makes for an uninteresting and non-diverse atmosphere. An appearance equip option with few to no class restrictions would be great. Being able to use different types of lightsabers or ranged weapons would also be great. I know there would be the issue of damage, but it would not be difficult to work out.
  2. Just got kicked and getting error 1003 when I try to reconnent, looks like maintenance isn't supposed to be for another hour and a half right?
  3. Well you've got that faux Latin "us" at the end of your first name so do something similar for the last. Errengus Dominus, for instance.
  4. Yeah! TyHeaton is infallible and never makes any mistakes. You guys should have to suffer for yours the same way that TyHeaton would if he weren't two steps above Chuck Norris.
  5. No, which is why you shouldn't wait ten minutes to get up off the grass and nor should you spend your time on the ground trying to contemplate the physics behind the equation. You just get back on and ride. No 6 year old has anything that could be considered "knowledge" regarding riding a bike. It's operative conditioning and muscle memory. And no MMO player is going to figure out how to play without actually playing. I'm not saying he can't res and run back or even that 10 minutes is too long, I'm just pointint out that the post to which I responded makes no sense.
  6. I think it's a WoW attitude. Maybe earlier, I dunno, but the MMO subculture is full of poorly thought out conjecture. You'll hear these common mantras no matter what game you play, as though all aspects of an MMO are set in stone and deviation from the norm is automatically shunned. For instance, there were dozens of threads regarding being able to respec AC and throughout all the BS that got spewed in beta the argument essentially came down to "other games don't let you and therefore it is wrong." I pressed many people for substantiation beyond this but that's when the ad hominem kicked in. If I didn't enjoy watching hardcore MMO folk rage on the forums when their perspective is challenged I'd probably have a stroke.
  7. Your solution is for him to learn to play the game while waiting to be able to play the game. When your parents taught you how to ride a bike did they have you reason the process out mechanically or did you fall off and get back on to...I dunno, practice?
  8. To be fair, this is less a "tip" then it is your opinion on the need/greed system insofar as it applies to companions. I look at a companion as an extension of my character and so as far as I'm concerned "need" applies just as much. There are good reasons on both sides and it's definitely not cut and dry.
  9. As a Sith Assassin I'm pretty sure I can use an electrostaff, but there seem to be abilities that require a double bladed saber so not really a point in doing so. I think choice is important, especially in this game since every one I see running around looks exactly like me and is likely on the same quest, so I'm all for anything that adds diversity to the game. Would especially love an "appearance tab" so you can equip items for looks but not for stats. I will say though that the only thing I can think of that I didn't like about the KOTOR games (besides that they weren't finished) was having to wait to get a saber. I found using metal melee weapons to be lacking, but not sure how to describe why. Just didn't have that je nes sais quoi that a lightsaber has. Loved swords in SWG though; melee officer FTW.
  10. Dude what? Lucas' name is on all the EU publications. New Jedi Order, Han Solo Trilogy, etc. Nothing gets published in the SW universe without GL approval. Are you confusing the expanded universe with fan fiction?
  11. You mean per planet? Hard to sell level 12 stuff if everyone on the planet is 30+ right?
  12. SWG character creation was freaking fantastic. There were so many aspects of SWG that could have been used almost directly that would have been amazing in this game. The bazaar, for instance, was perfect. Sandbox space is far more fun than space on rails. Starting off with a speeder rather than waiting 25 levels. Etc, etc, etc.
  13. No idea what you're talking about. All my male toons have been awesome and fit the voice acting really well. Can't please all the people all the time, etc.
