  1. Greetings, After the update 4.3 when I logged in to play the game I had an error message right after the launcher had finished installing the update. I had had other programs running and had assumed that the error message was related to something other than SWTOR. I did not read the whole thing so this is probably at least partly on me. At the time I just clicked the play button and it began about right, for a single moment I saw the usual loading screen and then it went all black and my cursor had the loading icon. I was not overly concerned so I walked away, about fifteen minutes later I come back and it is still there. I decided to try and stop the game, hoping that I could get it to work the next time through. Did the Ctrl+Alt+delete and started a task manager. When it came back to the main computer, before the task manager started, SWTOR seemingly started running again. When it came to the character selection screen it stated the game was still uploading and was giving me the option to play on one of the starter worlds. The Download was locked at 99.94% for the few minutes I left it before stopping the game. I tried restarting the computer, changing a setting on the bitraider, per the suggestion of another person on a faintly similar issue, nothing has worked. Could I get some help?
  2. I think it would be really great to have those sets of gear for looks and what not. I really found it amusing the appearance and enjoyed the Dread Masters enough that I would put cartel coins into a full set of gear. (Got everything but the gloves ;_; )
  3. Hello I wanted to ask about an issue that I have faced over the past few days now. The Fallen Empire update is being downloaded on my computer, however at 99.85% the launcher seems to just stay put. The loading speed will change for a few seconds to minutes afterwards however it too just stops. I have tried waiting overnight for it to finish but it never changed. I tried the update on a couple other computers in my house and they had no trouble so I am concerned that it might be something on my end. I was hoping that someone would be able to help. Thank you.
  4. I would love these to come back, I got most of the Tionese gear for my Sage and accidentally got a full set of Jedi Knight Tionese for Qyzen, before I knew he used Aim (I know very bad newbie mistake, but then we all make mistakes some just seem more stupid than others, such as when I always got absorption armor for my sage ). Also if they bring back this I hope they bring back the named weapons, I was looking forward to getting Jolee Bindo's Lighsaber (and Bastila Shan's for that matter). I thoroughly enjoyed the comical look of the sage's headdress, with its half-moon appearance, whenever I saw it I would laugh and say, "Wow, where has this guy been for his clothing?" Now where it comes from I do not mind I would just love to see some of the old gear brought back. And for those who may say I am new and simply want it given to me, I was subbed since a month past launch. I just did not make/get enough time to do the grinds. I am home schooled and my parents are very strict on video game time allotments so playing enough to get one sage to 50 and grinding the end-game flashpoints/operations was not always an option. So I agree with bringing back the gear, all of the end-game 50 gear. It does not need to come from the Cartel Market, as Bioware seems to be making quiet a profit off of that already not that I am complaining. I would just love to see it come back that is for sure.
  5. Okay so I am going to put this out just to start. (I have a huge eloquent set up argument to and for both sides but I am leaving that for a later point because it is very long and somewhat dull to tell truth.) So here it goes just for Tyber Zann. His first advantage is that he has a military training, also he has often had to fight to make his criminal organizations survive, meaning that he would be more prepared for a Kaggath than Xizor would be. Tyber's power base was built through hardship leading to the fact that if the Black Sun were to gain the upper hand in a military or criminal view Tyber would be used it and is in someways even prepared for it. Xizor has a larger network, mostly because he is a good leader and has a crime syndicate which has been around for an incredibly long time in comparison to the Zann Consortium. However he would not react as well as the Consortium would if if were to loose power. Xizor was born very wealthy, so much so that he could pay to have a building (a skyscraper to be specific in the presidential district of Coruscant) demolished to create his own palace which was larger many of the surrounding buildings. While he was one of the most important leaders of the Black Sun, he was not as well trained for the life of a Crime Lord, which at points can be opulent and at other times can be very stressful. So for this first reason Tyber does have an advantage. Okay so there is the first, anyone see a flaw in my argument. I would love to hear if there is anything wrong with it so don't be shy. Don't worry I won't bite
  6. Sorry that I am taking awhile. I just want to try and complete the argument and the set up for it. (I have a Microsoft Word that I am working through to adjust it so as to make sure it is air tight as possible.)
  7. Oh does it take longer now? Is it maybe because there are more people taking part?
  8. Okay I know this thread hasn't been posted on for a long time. However I would like to ask if I may add something on Zann's behalf, just in case. (He is my personal favorite, and I have done a lot of studying. I have also done studying on Xizor, as they are bitter enemies, so I have seen that both were very powerful. I am not biased..... okay maybe a little...... okay I love one way more than the other, however I can defend either with pretty good chances.) So I simply want to ask if this thread is still open for discussion, and if so may I put my two-cents in for consideration?
  9. This has an interesting theme going. The ideas are quite ambitious, and I like them. I look at how this game is laid out and it isn't really as free for player control as other games. I mean you only get to control, what you kill, how you talk to people, what you look like. This game is amazing, it is fun and different (this is coming from me, who has never played another MMO... well aside from Lego Universe, but that was awhile ago ). At first as I read this thread I felt much sympathy for Marrius, but I do see that there is some slander issues (no offense). People try to bring information to the table, while it could have been done with more finesse (in some cases), it was still brought without any truly rude remarks. The problem is that neither side appears (again I say appears) to have the willingness to gently guide the other. Marrius is told he is wrong, then he begins to tell people that they are not listening. Conversely other people are told they are wrong then they retaliate by being extremely blunt in a situation which is already riding near the boiling point. The SWG issue is interesting. While I never got to play it, (by the time I was old enough and into that sort of thing it was on its last legs) it sounded fun in retrospect. From what I have read, and I have done some research (probably not as much as you guys (or girls)) that game fell out due to a serious lacking in subscribers. Most of which left after the huge change with the enhancements (from what I remember reading these changes majorly effected the combat and mechanics) as Blu Haze pointed out humans are naturally against change (most are that is). This led to eventual decision of shutting down SWG. Now in regards to bringing the sort of open world type to this game. It will cost quite a sum, probably more than Bioware is willing to make at this juncture. However who knows... I think what they could do instead of making worlds completely open is making it so you can design special gear, instead of following a set path. That would open up a more controlled feeling to the game (not that it doesn't have it slightly). I wanted to bring these little quips from Henry Ford ( I seriously hope I do not need to say who he is ). He said in regards to industry: "A business that makes nothing but money is a poor business." "Business is never so healthy as when, like a chicken, it must do a certain amount of scratching around for what it gets." There are quite a few more, you should really read them. I think this would be fun, but I don't see it as a viable option at this moment for Bioware. Now I pulled this together in about half and hour at the end of a brutal day, so if it sounds stupid please say so. All burns and comments are very welcome.
  10. I would love this to be come true. The downside is they will likely only bring them back, if at all, during some event or something akin to that. The reason for this is that once the pack leaves circulation then the items that were in said pack will become worth much more, both on the GTN and buying it from vendors. Then they make it so that in order to buy those items from the vendor requires Reputation. The only way to make reputation is to buy more cartel packs, and then for some rarer items it requires little certificates that also come from Cartel packs. And if you aren't a subscriber then you need to pay for each and every cartel coin. This makes money, for Bioware. If they brought back certain packs then the value of the items within the packs would have a small decrease. They still make money but then people who get extras start selling them on the GTN leading to less likelihood of people buying more cartel pack. The one thing that must be understood while playing, is that this game, and all games, are meant for two things. Firstly and more importantly they are supposed to make a profit for those who made the game. Secondly they are supposed to be enjoyable enough for people to buy the game. This game is made to be easy (yes it is easy compared to many games) and fun so that Bioware can make money and continue to make money. It is extremely difficult for MMORPGs in general because they cost a lot (I mean almost millions to build and keep on line). Thus more money must be made to make it worth it to the company. People are willing to continue to play this game, though it breaks a few canonical rules, because it is fun. And when the game is fun it makes people buy it, then they pay for it. Then Bioware makes money. Now I will not say that Bioware has been solely based around profit, however it has felt that way many times. (All you who complain that Bioware isn't treating loyal subscribers fairly have a little to learn. We who have played from the launch till now have gotten the result of the money we spent, we have gotten to play from beginning to whenever we decide to stop. If that isn't reward enough then I don't think anything would change your mind.) Bioware has tried to make it enjoyable for many people. Yes, there are a few things that need to be fixed, such as helping RPers a little more. But they have limited capabilities due to the engine they are using. They have made an enjoyable game. It has had its ups and its downs, but ultimately more people have played this game and thought it was fun than otherwise. Sorry for going on like that. Yes I think this would be a fun idea.
  11. I wish this were true, but unfortunately it isn't. Since how we grew up will be different from how the previous generation would have grown up there will be differences in thoughts and physical attributes. So no two generations are exactly alike. For example: Let's start by taking someone who fought in WW 2. Then take someone who read all about the same war, watched very realistic movies about it, learned everything he could about that one war. Would he see it in the same way as the man who actually fought through the war. The answer is no, because the man who read about it will have learned what it was like but not experience it. The man who fought in the war would know what it is like both head and heart. Let's try something else, take people from the Depression. Then take some people from today. The economy is dropping near the Depression level. So would the people from different times have similar thoughts. Again the answer is more than likely no. People today will have grown up with different standards than those of the past (a shortsighted idea unfortunately, we should return to the older standards of things). Now I am not saying that someone from an older generation can't like the same things as people today. But just because they are related to us does not mean they will like it. Also just because someone can like something does not mean that they will like something. People are not all from one mold, we are variables we each and everyone of us are different. Even identical twins have different fingerprints, and different personalities to some degree. So I am not quibbling the fact that an older generation can like what a newer generation likes, I quibbling the fact that you said that all generations are the same, 0 differences means that same. That is just not true unfortunately. If it were then this world would have been worse off a long time ago. Now to the subject of the crystal. I think it would be fun, not logical but fun. I can see it now, people running around with black lightsabers, heh heh heh. I'll /sign.
  12. Letting you know, this site's roleplay post by post goes through phases. It will be alive and well for a few weeks then suddenly goes quiet. Then it will come alive again. I've been through a number of these cycles.
  13. Alright so I am completely new to RP guilds, that being said I would like to make an RP guild. My idea is to produce a guild that will be similar to actual factions. Not sure if this has been done before, if so please let me know! Anyway, I was thinking along the lines of two guilds (One for each faction) that are attached to the faction, however they have their own goals. They spy on the other guild using people who have decided to specialize in that field. They use planets for their goals as well. For example lets say an Imperial Agent was captured and transported to Belsalvis, the Imperial guild would send fighters to release the Agent. The guilds would have meetings where they discuss tactics for battles, information that may have come in, and what to do with prisoners. While one guild is having a meeting the other may be trying to infiltrate the guild to learn possible weaknesses. Each guild would interact with the other. I am not sure how this would work, again this is my first try at an RP guild. I am also not sure what server I should put it on. I was thinking Jedi Covenant, because there is a serious lacking in RP guilds on that server and also all my high levels are on that server. I don't want to transfer them, but I know that if I start the guild on that server then it won't have many people. So any advice is appreciated. If anyone would like to join or leave advice then please do so here.
