  1. yeah, pretty sure I'm not. Other melee classes: Sith Juggernaut is tanking anyway, so not really an issue... Sith Marauder gets jump attacks to close to melee range fast, and doesn't have to be behind the target for maximum effectiveness Sith Assassins may have the same problems as Ops, not sure.
  2. I'm 4/5 hard mode in EV, and have fully cleared Karagga's on hm. I'm also a member of one of the more hardcore raiding kins on Lotro, and used to be a member of a hardcore PvP & raiding kin that played in multiple games (AoC, WoW, WAR, DF, Eve). But I find myself having difficulties on Star Wars being a concealment op trying to do melee in Operations. The fights are often very frenetic and disorganized, with everyone in the operation having to be in constant movement. Case in point - Bonethrasher, who has this massive frontal aoe and no aggro table. We've tried a stationary approach - position everyone in the center of the room and have the person targeted run through his legs to turn him around - but the lack of a target's target in the UI makes this approach currently impossible. The result is that we have to be constantly kiting the boss to attempt to avoid his aoe. This approach works phenomenally well; However, the ranged classes in such a fight get plenty of time to just plink away at the boss. For me to do damage, not only do I have to be close to him, but I have to be behind him (mainly for backstab, which is pretty much the bread-and-butter of a concealment build). Soa and the fight right before Soa are similarly nuts. In addition, I'm useless against trash (my AoE skills cost to much energy to spam, and my orbital strike doesn't land until everything is dead or moved, and my single target stuff requires me to close in, by which point the target is already dead). The first boss fight in EV also seems broken, as only being on the side of the boss - not the back - gives me access to backstab. Thinking about retraiting for bleeds, as with those I can at least apply them and keep moving... but yeah, melee ops builds suck...
  3. I wish the answer of "legacy race" was more specific (e.g. "You'll be able to play a jawa smuggler" at which point I would delete a character to make sure I had room for my epic jawa...), and more specific on WHEN this mythical 1.2 Update would be coming, but... pretty happy with the answers overall.
  4. Once cross-server PvP is introduced, will there be any chance of tournament ladders or skill tiers for PvP?
  5. I've only really experienced it on my lvl 33 Sentinel. The biggest problem I have on him is that the icons for about half of my attacks are this greyish-blue color that is very, very close to the same color as the greyed-out icon that shows the skill is still on cooldown.
  6. Have you also tried the options at HP & Dell? You can often build a system to your own specs cheaper than you can buy it. (full disclosure, I do work for HP, although not in one of the divisions that would directly benefit from your purchase) There's a great site called notebookcheck that you can use to compare different video cards and processors, btw Edit: looking at that site, it appears the 560 is better than the 460, but both are what the site calls "class 1" cards. Any card in that class can likely play the game on high settings, but MMOs are notoriously CPU-dependent, so you'll need at least a high-end cpu as well http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214604 - that toshiba I would suspect could play on high settings just fine. HP 15" customizable laptops can (usually) be upgraded to the Radeon 7690M. This card is not quite as powerful as the 560M, but is still in notebookcheck's class 1 list. By customizing the laptop, you can choose not to include things you're not interested in, and make sure you get exactly what you want. So, for instance, I can get an HP DV6Z with a 1gb 7690M, a 1920x1080p screen, a 160gb solid state hard drive, a quad-core A8-3550MX proc, and 6gb of memory, for 1,034.99.
  7. yeah, I was going for specifically "interrupt" abilities... the kind of abilities for which interrupting is their primary purpose (force kick being a great example). Yes, these abilities tend to include a lockout of 4s, but their primary purpose is stopping the induction in the first place. Stuns, knockbacks, etc. will interrupt when they work, but interrupt skills like force kick typically work regardless of immunity or enemy strength (although some bosses are even immune to these).
  8. As far as I can tell, we just don't have that many useful abilities in PvP. Sure, we can jump to a target, but that's about it. Other classes can completely lock us down and pwn our faces. But I'd argue it seems like we do massive sustained damage with the right spec, so... I think it's all OK
  9. If that's true, why is it BHs always seem to be unable to interrupt?
  10. and games constantly rebalance classes. Agents were the flavor of the week at release, and have gotten nerfed (now it's assassins on top). Agents will rise again.
  11. My Sentinel just hit 25. So far, I'm epic solo (haven't died in a fight.. only death was falling off a cliff @ 20 hah). I don't do as much damage as I'd like, but I'm about to retrait Annihilation.
  12. Best interrupt I've found so far is that of the Sentinel/Marauder, which can get down to 6s cooldown properly traited. Is there anything faster?
  13. Yeah, but there were probably thousands of people who exploited. I don't think even the most violent of offenders should get permabans - probably banned for 3 days or a week, but not perma. These are stats held in a database. They can simply roll back the valor amounts obtained from this activity. SWTOR keeps more data on your activities than any game in history - they'll have the ability to remove only the valor that people gained through exploits. (I avoided that section of Ilum during this timeframe entirely, because I knew that this sounded like an exploit and that bad things would happen...)
  14. It may just be that they're a lot more innundated with this type of thing than they thought. But that's why I'd like a vendor return option.. something built into the game, where we don't have to get help on every single one of these
  15. yeah, I found that out after looking through my skills and realizing none of the bonuses helped me, haha.
