  1. My sub lets out mid june due to the free month. Ive not played for 2 weeks now. After getting a character on both sides to end game and several other characters into the final act, Im just bored now. Unlike many other mmos, there doesnt seem to be a real reason to hang around. Which is odd, because in EQ1/2, DAoC, etc, I was fine with standing around doing nothing. Maybe its because I felt there was more potential to do something in those than what is here. Here, I know I either run the same OP/FP again or do the same WZ again. Again, repetition in other games didn't bother me. Must be the lackluster reasons to continue to grind. Maybe its the open world pvp situation. I don't know. Long story short, I enjoyed the runthrough of the first character on each side. Subsequent run throughs are less entertaining. I need real pvp. I need a nicer carrot as well it seems.
  2. If you are only on Alderaan, do yourself a favor and make a new character. You probably dont have very high legacy if any at all if that is your highest character. Supposedly the game rocks if you are on one of the flooded servers. If you are sporting a bunch of 50s, high legacy levels and gear, then welcome to the reason most people have left.
  3. I think they realize this, which is why they are marketing to new players instead of targetting retention atm. New players at least have a bit of time to level up to end game. Current players are already there.
  4. That fourth role, CC/utility, isnt a new thing. It is a role that vanished and hopefully makes a re-emergence.
  5. We wouldnt know, this is the first MMO to use it. And they wanted it so badly they got it before Simutronics finished it. So what we have here is a hero engine that isnt a hero engine. Maybe a different hero engine game will enlighten us on to whether or not it is a good MMO engine.
  6. Gratz, and I thought my being legacy 35 was bad.
  7. MMOs need something to keep people paying month after month. If it isnt for gear improvements it will have to be something like EQ1s crazy AA system or DAOCs realm point system. Either way, its a gear imbalance or a set of abilities imbalance, but Im fine with that since it is the nature of MMOs.
  8. Don't forget to hold alt-W. Altogether its Alt-***
  9. Trust a game company? Kind of an odd statement, as all game companies eventually toss out a crap game or two. I personally don't think this game is 'bad'. I enjoyed my first 50 on each side, it is the followup characters that have deminished value in my opinion. And at 50 Ive grown bored and feel no desire to continue on. A good game, yeah. Worth repeated $15 a month at this point, no. I've only about 20 some days left of posting before my sub is up, but haven't logged in for about 2 weeks now. Then again, after I beat most games I don't play them that much.
  10. When games become more difficult and more punishing, you will begin to see communities emerge once more. That also includes communities full of elitists and rude players. Making death hurt, making the game far less soloable, and increased overall challenge will force people together, and when they are together there will be increased socializing, for good or bad.
  11. The VO adds something, sure. The problem is that after you see it once, you dont want to waste all that time listening to it again. Even worse is when you are doing something with others, and you've seen the scenes dozens of times already. VO would have worked out far better in this game if they made side quests dependent on class similar to class stories. Then each time you play through with a new character nearly all dialogue and quests are new(if only slightly). As it is now though, each additional playthrough is simply lost time in loading and skipping cutscenes
  12. Used to be Kira, but starting to think Dark Jaesa. May be a bit over the top at times though.
  13. I personally don't think it will be 'saved'. Sure, the game will continue on after mergers happen, but I truly think the 'golden era' has sailed on. The game has a lot of good qualities, but the game is missing massive themes that make an MMO live. The worlds are static. Not only are you strictly guided along a path from start to finish, the npcs in the game simply stand around waiting for the next player to come along and mow them down. There is no real wandering danger, there is no real exploration. There isn't even much need to watch your pulls to prevent gaining aggro from other groupings. Too little end game content. With the game so bent on being story driven, they sacrificed volumes of content in order for it to have full voice and story. Players can only handle so much repetition before they grow bored. Furthermore, most rewards for dailies/wzs while having stat improvements, arent overly appealing to many people, or even that much better than a previous tier after a certain point. No real carrot to keep a person wanting to grind further. Game feels more single player than MMO. The game was designed for mostly completion with you and your companion. From lvl 1 to 50, there really is no need to group with one other person, let alone 3, 5, or 15 others. Many story/quest areas are further troubled by being instanced. So not only do you play solely with a companion, you are in your own secluded world away from others. Content is far too easy for those that put serious time into a game. The problem with the game design is while you can increase the difficulty to require grouping, too much time is spent in dialogue. How many people want to spend 3 hours in NPC chat and only 1 hour killing mobs? Overlooked importance of PvP. It amazes me how they can claim to not realize how much the overall community would be interested in pvp. Look at most of the larger MMOs out there. While many have pretty crappy systems in place, they pretty much all have systems. If every friggin game out there has pvp thrown into it(even games that started without pvp) one should probably take it as a sign that people want to pvp, even if casually. Then to make dedicated pvp servers with the Ilum we got. . . . So yeah, the game will limp on eventually going f2p. But I think you are seeing Warhammer 2.0 right now, and with the same outcome.
  14. Even if it is true, does it really change anything. So you have another companion sitting around on your ship doing nothing at lvl 50. Already we have 5 companions and a droid, what do we need a 6th and the ship droid for?
  15. One of many problems with this game. There should be terminals for warfield turnins on all planets. Flashpoints should have a whole seperate section of the warfield selection box that tracks all flashpoints a person is eligible to enter. The whole use fleet as a social hub is a failed experiment. For it to work, they will need to add something that is engaging while you sit around the fleet. What that is though, I dont know, as people on fleet aren't there to socialize to begin with typically.
