  1. I agree with 99% of what you said...but all my complaints have to do raiding and you didn't mention it except as some sort of forum buff to make people respect your post. Do you like raiding SWTOR?
  2. I am not familiar with SP, but thanks for the input. I think the way you play MMOs also effect your level of burn out. Obviously some people play them in moderation and some do not. I tend to be more manic with most of the things I do. If I'm not highly involved in the game and devoting large amounts of time to it I don't tend to enjoy it.
  3. I'm sorry, what part of my post doesn't lend itself to "general discussion"? If there's a criteria or topic list for gen discussion feel free to shoot me the link.
  4. That's gross man...its a creature...if creatures get romance options before same genders do the world is in a dark place....
  5. I realize there's a lot of things on the table as far as lack of contentment with the game, but I wonder if that isn't due in part to MMO exhaustion. If I had not played Wow for five years before coming to SWTOR I would see the game in a totally different light, but unfortunately I did War-crack and I am not looking forward to starting all of this again. I tried, but I just can't motivate myself through all those levels, not when I've already done more than my share on WoW. This MMO is not unlike any of them, there is a large time commitment to see all the content and even more so if you make additional characters. For me personally this may be a chance to re-evaluate my life and start to focus on other things. Granted, I'm not old at all (mid 20s) but five years of the same exact thing is just enough (grinding, raiding, whining about changes, more grinding, more raiding, more changes, more complaining). I had some of the best moments of my life during and in WoW. MMOs can be very enjoyable if played correctly, but you can also miss a lot of life and I think that's where I am at tonight. I am not saying that I wont ever touch another MMO...but I need MMOs to be as non-Wow like as possible before I go back, some of those good memories need to rest in peace without trying to fill them with lesser means.
  6. no no no....he's just realizing that its just a clone of a lot of other MMOs that have swords... after a while, the lightsaber does lose its glow and you wonder why you're doing all these levels again just to hold a glowing sword...
  7. How are you supposed to aspire to something that isn't challenging? 90% of my motivation in Wow was knowing end game was really hard because nothing before that was...MMO end game is not meant to be something you just experience and walk away. It should have taken guilds 3 months to clear the final raid on the highest difficulty if things were tuned right... No way I am grinding to 50 to walk through the last Ops like its the first Flashpoint...thats not motivating at all...
  8. Good points, I did meet a girl once who loved Star Wars, but I wouldn't date her lol
  9. I think the reviews make sense, but what difference does it make. It's like if you were dating a super hot girl for like 5 years and all of a sudden you meet the new girl at work. She's almost as attractive as your gf and for the sake of argument she has an identical personality EXCEPT she totally loves Star Wars. Maybe some of us would jump ship on the old gf, but for me personally I'm thinking about those awkward first dates, meeting the parents, moving in together, etc etc. That's a lot of work for some Star Wars love... Surprise, Wow is that old gf you've had for years that you cheat on and always go back to. SWTOR is Star Wars girl.
  10. That is pretty hilarious...but seriously I'm resubscribing to WOW too...it it by no means "original" but I like what Blizzard does and I have a lot of time investment there. It's hard to talk yourself into all those levels when you already have them on a very similar game. SWTOR endgame is just meh at best, its not innovative at all. I just don't see the reason to stay when they didn't offer anything new.
  11. I think this is probably ok. I mean, technical issues like this DO get fixed eventually and I don't see it being the game changer. Why? Look at games like Minecraft...that game is one big technical issue and some people love it. I am not sure what this means...you think that there shouldn't be factions? I am not sure why that's sad at all, factions are mostly for PvP and they rarely interact outside of that. If you are talking about games like Wow where factions raided key cities then I can see where that might bother you, but I don't know if that's what you mean. Why? Obviously for lore purposes your logic is acceptable, but its an MMO...you can't just create a neutral player faction and drop it in the middle between two other factions to make the lore happy. I agree with some of what you said, but a lot of what you're talking about involves key design decisions. Take the space mini game for example, yes its on a rail and its mostly a novelty feature, but creating a free roaming space fighter is a lot more involved.
  12. Wow. Of all the known issues this is worth starting a thread over?
  13. He did say he was yawning, I don't think he's upset... What is upsetting is the concept that we would level for hours in a commoditized, Star Wars skinned MMO that really doesn't have anything that innovative to offer. Granted, it was never offered, but why exactly would I play it over something else? MMOs are all about sustainability, if you aren't hooking people, you're already on the path to end of life.
  14. I am simply posing a question: where is SWTOR's strategic value? I can be very satisfied going to BurgerKing or McDonalds, but there's a reason I always choose McDonalds. They are both commodities in terms of fast food chains, but one has done better strategically. I bought the game because I was very satisfied, I'll need to be more than just satisfied to come back for years and years and that is the point of the thread.
  15. That's my point, those are all commodities, the minimum we've come to expect and they aren't even that great, just average. Where's the reason you'll keep playing it and not the next MMO to pop out?
