  1. Just for you, a link to another one of these threads in this forum: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=156437
  2. OK, to your e-face, I am honestly saying that as someone with a level 42 Sorcerer, a level 22 Powertech and a Level 11 Knight, that I am not sick of it. Do I enjoy doing the running? No. Does it bother me in the slightest that I have to do this? No. With my sorc I still play through every conversation fully, the same with my Knight. For the bounty hunter, I only play the class quest conversations. Everything else I skip through. This is a sandbox game. You will have to go from point a to point b to get what you want. You won't be dropped down into a little room to kill stuff and then be picked up from it when you are done. You are meant to be exploring the world and discovering these areas. Being told where an area is does not qualify as discovering it! The whole point is that just because your quests are in that area doesn't mean you are obligated to only go there. Explore, try and find thing, discover items and just wander about. On the Skyrim forums people were complaining about this as well and how it takes so long to get from one place to another. Honestly, this is just part and parcel of the game you bought! If it's not a feature that you like that is ruining your fun, then this type of game probably isn't for you. There are a wide variety of other games that you are more than welcome to try that may be more to your taste.
  3. Sorry, but I can't sympathize with this at all. I show up in an area, I collect all the quests including my class quest and then I load up my map and take a look at where to go. All the quests are normally within the same area and it is easy to figure out a path that I can take to do all the quests and not have to go back on myself. Once I finish off those quests I fast travel back, hand them all in and then get the quests for the next area. The cooldown on the instant travel is 20 minutes and most of those will be used up just handing in / getting new quests. The rest disappear pretty quickly while you are doing the rest of the missions. I'm level 42 and I don't think I've had to go back to an area once after finishing off a set of quests in an area. In saying that, I don't skip the videos so if you are doing that, then the cooldown will feel a lot longer on it. I'll agree with one of the earlier posts above, if all you are looking for is a game that goes from action to action to action, then chances are an MMO isn't for you. There's nothing wrong with that if it's what you want, but I don't think it's realistic to expect that kind of gameplay in an MMO.
  4. I'd agree with the above: 1) you were too far away from her while she was killing stuff 2) she was killing stuff while waiting for you 3) She had more rested xp from logging out on ship / cantina / fleet
  5. Ashara annoys the hell out of me for gaining affection as well. Her only saving grace is that she has the bonus in diplomacy so most of the time I just have her off looking for companion gifts in the hope that she'll come back with something (anything) that I can give to her. Right now I'm just sticking with Khem for running around and conversations and I'll just go back and do the romancing with her later on. I also have a bay nearly full with just courting presents so once she does reach 2500, or whatever it is, I'm hopefully going to be able to buy her love all that more quickly. I don't know how much more annoying she'd be if I was playing a fem character though. I'd just focus on the rest of them loving you first and keep sending her off for gifts if you can. She'll eventually come around.
  6. While I agree that most people do skip the quest text in WoW it is simply because it becomes very monotonous to read through each quest in order to finally see the end part of "Go kill this". I know a lot of people will say the exact same thing about SWTOR and it's method of conversations, but at least with SWTOR I feel connected to my characted and involved with what I am doing because of the choices I can make. The majority of the time, it doesn't matter what option you choose in the conversation as the outcome will be the same (you end up with a quest to go kill x, y and z), however it does pull you in and engage you. You know why you are doing what you are doing. Taken what the OP has put forward, I am now in even more admiration for Bioware for putting out a game with what I consider to be an infinetly better story line than any other game in it's genre. Not because the plot or substance to it is more detailed or better written, but rather because it engages the player a lot more. To add on what the OP has said, if you are hoping for a refined and polished game then currently WoW is your best bet for this. It has 7 years of being able to improve itself. And, if you want an alternative to it, then return to SWTOR in 1 or 2 years when it has gotten past its teething phase. Time is the master of all things. There is still time for this game to fail, but it's equally plausible that this game could succeed and become bigger than any other. But it's illogical to think that any game can do it all straight away. Many thanks to the OP for such a thought provoking post that puts so much into consideration.
  7. Come to the Dark Side! We have Cookies! You can also dismiss your companion and resummon them with full health which will work indoors. Apart from that, from playing an SI we hit a wall around the same level when it comes to killing stuff. As said previously, it is the wake-up call part where you have to really start focussing on what is and isn't working and adapting your strategy. Up until that point you really do just walk over everything. Stick with it though, in a few levels your skills will catch up with it all and even though it won't be as easy as it was before, it won't be as hard either.
  8. From my own experience, if you want it to drop for your class you are better off grouping with people of the same class. From having run several instances with my SI and BH I've found that if I group up with people of my same class then it's more likely stuff that I can roll on will drop. The problem is though that with teaming up with others, they are likely to roll on it as well. If you can solo it, then I'd suggest doing that. Whenever I solo all the gear that drops is for my class.
  9. Handy. Thank you. Quick question, will these be replaced upon updates or "repairs" with the proper ones?
  10. Yes. The blue items are free for anyone to use, but to use a reusable medpac you have to have the appropriate Biochem level
  11. Their customer support team for Europe is based in Galway in Ireland. Chances are they do it at this time because they are unwilling to pay the lads overtime. It would be easy for them to change the times around for it but right now it doesn't look like the have any plans for it. Only advise I can give is to sign every one of the hundreds of other threads that are complaining about the EU maintenance time. Eventually they might notice that this threads keep happening every tuesday and make some changes in the future.
  12. Nope. Unfortunately once you choose your Legacy name you are stuck with it. The only people who can change it are customer service and the only way they will do it is if it violates the Terms of Service. I'm not sure if the Legacy name is cross faction though. Not an ideal option for you, but if it's not then you can always start a character on the other side and get a different legacy name there.
  13. Shameless bump on this awesome thread. Only tips I can add: For crew skills: If companion is on a mission, you can cancel the mission by pressing the "x". You don't get back the money for it, but your companion will return straight away. Always log out in a rest zone. This can be your ship, a cantina or the imperial fleet main area (Not the hangar area). You'll end up getting double xp when questing, and if like me, you can only play for an hour or two every 2 days, then you'll always get this benefit. Makes levelling up a lot easier and faster.
  14. Yes.... because this is a helpful and insightful comment. Try actually reading a post, considering it and then posting an opinion that actually matters and is relevant. To OP, I feel the same in that I think TB is underpowered when compared to our other skills as well as other classes. I don't think that Chain Lightning needs to be nerfed (Or Buffed) but I would like to see TB be buffed up slightly.
  15. Kind of have to agree with the above post. I'm level 37 at the moment, and while I did feel that it got harder from about 30 - 34, I know everything started leveling out after that. Things aren't as hard as they were during those 4 levels, but at the same time, things are still harder than they were from 1 - 29. It's a healthy mix that I like. In saying that, I'm fully lightning specced and normally go with Khem and try to use AOE spells as much as possible. I do find though that if I'm in a tough fight I have to start by bubbling myself, casting first spell, bubble Khem and then stop doing my own spells after his bubble runs out to heal and re-bubble him. Just re-bubbling him isn't normally enough and I have to throw in one or two heals. I'm not a big fan of healing so don't like that I need to do this with Khem for most tough fights as it feels like I'm being forced into a healer role rather than pure DPS. Going back to your issue though OP. Yes, the game will get easier again soon. You just have to power through this patch.
