  1. That message has now been removed from the patcher and the patch notes have been posted. The 11AM PDT time was an OUTSIDE time for the updating to be complete (worst case scenario)... it was available much sooner than that.
  2. They released the patch notes... the only issues that are supposed to be fixed today were the character locking issue (by far the most serious) and a problem with the NVIDIA SLI profiles. As far as I can tell both of those issues were resolved as advertised. Patch notes quoted below.
  3. I'm running a Radeon 4870 on my work computer (SWTOR installed, but I don't play it much on this one)... loaded up the game and everything is working perfectly (FPS was never great on this card with shadows on, but no unusual stuttering). I didn't even need to do any workarounds on this computer. Logically speaking, that means something is different about your computer that is causing the problem. I'm not saying Bioware doesn't carry a responsibility for the issues (they did, afterall, follow the demands of the end users by "improving" shadows) but there are a lot of variables here. They said they are aware of the reported performance issues and they are working on it. They never said this patch would fix everything.
  4. You misunderstand me. I mean a solution to your subscription/payment issue. If you don't want a sub anymore and you think you deserve a refund then you should use the proper channels to find a solution. Billing agents do not use the forums. You are not being forced to pay/play for this videogame. It sucks that you feel its come to that point... but you seem pretty adamant so I'm not going to try to talk you out of it. I know I wouldn't be happy if the game was unplayable for a week and I would certainly use the appropriate channels to cancel my sub (or get a refund). Seems pretty obvious to me. I might even complain a bit on the forums because I'm human too but I'd also be open to reasonable criticism for it (considering my complaints wouldn't actually help anything).
  5. Forced? You are not being forced to do anything. If you want to cancel and get a refund there are much more effective channels for achieving that goal. Use them. If you are just here to vent and not actually find a solution then I guess you can do that too... but you should expect a little criticism in the process.
  6. They already have a thread on that topic: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=476966 It looks like they closed your duplicate.
  7. They fixed the most serious issue that everyone was susceptible (locked characters on ships). The SLI issue was probably an easy fix so they included that one as well. They are just prioritizing... and doing so pretty well as far as I can tell. I know it sucks to be in that minority that is still experiencing issues (been there myself in other games) but Bioware has stated pretty clearly that they are working on it.
  8. The UI does not need to be reloaded every time you change zones (it is just hidden until the new zone finishes loading).
  9. I think the exploration bonus applies to lore unlocks as well but that still makes the bonus pretty small relative to questing and kill XP. I came back to the game after a month off and found I had a couple mil worth of Recruit PVP tokens to turn in so I created a new character and bought all of the XP bonuses for him... I am definitely noticing a difference but it's not massive. I'd say its just about right for the cost (considering how easy it is to earn credits in this game... you can raise the credits for 2-3 of the bonuses in just a few days of casual daily com farming).
  10. I provide feedback because I care about the game (I imagine it's the same for most folks). It's a terrible bummer to come so close to greatness and fall short. That is the whole point! The fact that you choose to characterize feedback as "complaining" or "whining" says a great deal more about you than it does about anything in these forums.... in any event, back to working on finishing all the class stories (which I just feel like could be less like work and more like an experience if the world was more lively).
  11. Thx for getting us back on topic! I completely agree... SO many ways they could flesh out this world. They wouldn't even need to rush to adding a day/night cycle (probably a huge project in terms of development hours). I'd just like to see an increase in NPC numbers and activity (maybe some relatively basic scripting/ai... nothing fancy, just a little more than complete apathy would be nice).
  12. Is the irony of you whining about whiners in the vocal minority (while also, apparently, being a part of that minority) lost on you entirely? As for your point about what caused the game to fail... it's also just as likely that it was the poor implementation of the ideas shared on the forums that lead to the failure of that game. *shrug*
  13. Where should someone go to make suggestions that can be collaborated on (and corroborated) by ones peers? I'd also venture to guess that there was a great deal more wrong with that game than developers listening to the vocal minority (which may or may not have represented the opinions of the masses).
  14. The class stories are great and the voice acting is phenomenal but the SWTOR world feels empty and dead. There is no day/night cycle nor is there any meaningful weather. There are no seasons. 99.9% of the NPC we come across are there only to serve a purpose and unless we have the quest (etc) they are completely oblivious to our existence. I wish random, weird things happened on occasion... I wish NPC reacted when I blast the cantina with fire and lightning (with fear or anger or... anything!). I wish the next time I visited Coruscant it was night and the nasty things that hid in dark alleys during the day came out to play. I know you guys are somewhat pigeon-holed by the limitations of the engine you chose but there should be more to an MMO that claims to be heavily focused on story and experience. You guys are rocking so far in terms of squashing bugs, balancing classes and expanding content (IMO) but I hope to see more life in the world you made for us. /rant <3 you guys anyways
