  1. People were wrong. Electro Net is one of your higher DPS, DPGCD, and DPH skills. Its priority in our system is only superseded by Heatseekers with the Tracer debuff on the target and Rail Shot with 5 Tracer Lock stacks. If a DPS Merc isn't using Electro Net, they're doing something wrong :-\
  2. Hey folks! Any guilds hereabouts that maintain US west coast daytime hours for their operations/HM crews? Ideally, I'd like to find a group consisting primarily of adult/older gamers like myself (I'm 34), but it's hardly a set-in-stone necessity. I've got plenty of endgame PvE experience in a number of games (Warcraft, LotRO, GW/GW2 to name a few), but until recently, haven't had a ton of time to devote to Star Wars. That said, I'm probably not qualified to fill a spot in a terribly competitive bleeding-edge progression crew; I'm a fast learner, just not terribly familiar with the SWtOR operations yet. I'm generally available between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM Pacific time, Wednesday through Sunday, though being self-employed, I'm able to shuffle stuff around as necessary and would be willing to make time for the right crew. I currently sport a 156-rating (66) geared Marauder and Mercenary (kitted for healing, mostly, though I've got the mods, armorings, barrels, and enhancements handy for an Arsenal setup), and an Operative halfway geared in (69)s. I generally prefer healing, but am perfectly capable of filling DPS spots with any of these toons. If you've read all of that, kudos, and thanks for your time! If you think we might be a good fit, feel free to reply to this thread! I'll be keeping an eye on it as I peruse all of the various guild opportunities.
  3. Nevermind; I'm a derp. Barrage is the sound to which our procs were changed. Now I'm off on a mission to find exactly which proc it is that makes my toons giggle...
  4. God, I remember these, back in mid-late December and early January. The popular consensus was that pretty much all the Knight/Warrior classes were beyond sub-par and utterly worthless. My, how things have changed.
  5. I chuckled when I read that, because that was exactly my train of thought when I first got the first of this type of trash-killer back in December and immediately wanted to be able to use it in PvP.
  6. Have you given thought to dropping two points into your Sawbones tree to pick up the first-tier talent Exploratory Surgery? For two points, you reduce Underworld Medicine's cast time to 2 seconds (increasing its HPS significantly by reducing its cast time by 20%), and you give yourself an easy way to nab an extra UH on-demand while healing your companion.
  7. What's your spec? What companion are you using? How are both of you geared? I've just wrapped up that planet with my Scoundrel, and that quest was pretty faceroll-easy at 33. I preface the following with the warning that my Scoundrel is running in God-mode at the moment (full Sawbones spec with a well-geared Corso tanking), so if you're a Scrapper or Dirty Fighter, it doesn't apply. This is how I handle solo-pull elites/champions: 1.) Pre-apply Slow Release MedPack to myself and my companion 2.) Underworld Medicine for n Upper-Hand proc 3.) Apply Pugnacity 4.) Stealth in 5.) Open with Dirty Kick (unless I know in advance I'm going to need it later as a supplemental interrupt) The fight itself involves a loose priority system as follows. This list is organized from high to low, but excludes interrupt-capable abilities that trigger the global cooldown (I.E.: Flashbang and Dirty Kick): 1.) Refresh Pugnacity 2.) SRMP on your companion if he's at 1 stack of SRMP, or if SRMP has less than 2 seconds left 3.) UWM on your companion if he's under 70%-ish, and ONLY if you have 1 or 0 stacks of UH 4.) EMP on your companion, if he's under 75%-ish, and you have 2 or 3 stacks of UH 5.) Apply / refresh Vital Shot if your target is over 40% health and there are less than two seconds of Vital Shot left 6.) Blaster Whip / Backblast 7.) Blaster Volley if you have 2 or more stacks of UH, and there are no concerns with breaking crowd control or pulling adds you can't handle 8.) Thermal Grenade if over 75-ish energy 9.) Flurry of Bolts This rotation might appear exceedingly conservative on damage, but you'd be surprised how little you end up actually having to heal your companion. Between dumping your spare UH procs into EMPs and maintaining a rolling 2-stack of SRMPs on him, elites barely scratch him if you keep their heavy-hitters interrupted, and you'll spend the majority of your time spamming Volley / Flurry / Backblast / Blaster Whip. Also, bear in mind that all of the above is meant as a loose guide. It's the product of about 100 hours of PvE solo-leveling experience with the Scoundrel and its sister, the Operative. It's not supported by math/theory-crafting by players better at such things than myself. It works for me; YMMV; other generic disclaimers; etc.
  8. Everything in this post and the one above it mirrors what I would have said, except that I'll disagree that Arse/Gunners are our easiest match-up... Our easiest match-ups are Mara/Sents who haven't figured out where their defensive cooldowns are yet, and who run around with hard-ons for LOLBIGDAMAGENOMBARS XD
  9. That already happened. Did you miss the part where you get class buffs for every character in your legacy that you've levelled to 50 on your other legacy toons? Since the sexy 5% crit buff is about all Ops have left, and that will be copied to your other toons... ta ta Operatives. We hardly knew ye. (In all seriousness, though, that's exactly what I thought when I read that buffs from your characters would be something copied to your other legacy toons)
  10. Right now, it doesn't really matter. Crafting skills in general are in a state of flux, so any guesses as to what will best serve you at endgame once you arrive are pure speculation. Biochem and Cybertech used to be very strong contenders for their reusables. BioWare stated in a recent QnA that they want to phase out reusables. Synthweaving, Armormech, and Armsmech were considered sub-par because nothing they crafted was anywhere near on-par with the endgame gear. BioWare has made it clear that as of 1.2, they will change endgame purple gear to fully-modifiable, such that mods/armorings/enhancements therefrom could be ripped out and placed into crafted gear, and that crafted modifiable oranges would be able to be crafted with augment slots. Augments are also supposedly becoming craftable by Armormechs, Armstechs, and Synthweavers. It remains to be seen, however, whether this has any effect at endgame. I personally *love* Artifice, for the simple fact that everybody needs Enhancements and Color Crystals. However, be aware before you start--and I'm only pointing this out because you're a Shadow/Assassin--that you will *not* be making any Willpower shield generators (well, there might be one or two) with recipes from the crafting trainer. There are some schematics you can get as drops, or buy on the GTN from people who have gotten them as drops, but that's about it.
  11. Somebody, somewhere, at some point since the game's release, was able to burst down a Sorcerer once. According to Bioware's logic, that means that burst damage must be way over the top, so they're taking steps to correct it.
  12. I'm one of those twin Vibrosword Marauders. I do it because two sticks attract less attention in PvP than two glowsticks with their distinctive hum and glowy trails. I use two of the S-2 Rescue Vibroblades available for Drumond Kaas commendations from the Equipment Commendation Vendor, modded to my level.
  13. It's true; Arsenal is just more effective. However... all the leveling speed and efficiency in the world isn't going to get your toon to level 50 or beyond if you get so sick of spamming Tracer Missiles three to five times per mob that you bench your Merc, so play whatever you can stomach playing through the hours upon hours it's going to take you to reach endgame. My Merc's sitting at 43 right now, and she just went back to Arsenal for an added speed boost after spending the last twenty levels in Pyro, but I suffer from the same disgust toward Tracer that you do. I find it helps to mute the game sounds and put on some inspiring music in the background when I'm questing. That repetitive sound of Tracer Missiles is *by far* the worst thing about it, and without that sound, well, it's not quite so monotonous.
  14. Because that whole "hybrid tax" mentality is just wrong on lots of levels. Any player of equal gear- and skill-level, regardless of class, should be able to be directly on par with any other equally geared and skilled player at any role his or her class is capable of performing.
  15. Sorry for the derail, but seeing Tracer Missiles referred to as "assrockets" just made my day <3 I lol'ed pretty hard.
