  1. Also, does anyone else feel that instead of opening with "Hi, everyone" it should read "Good News everyone!" based on how this information is being received?
  2. While I just came back recently from a long absence and none of my characters are at a point where this would affect them, I'd gladly take a mil or two
  3. I can understand the 100 credits thing ONLY from the point of view that they are trying to reduce the amount of credits in the economy, so it wouldn't make sense to pump millions back into it. I don't agree with that reasoning and I certainly don't agree with how they are handling this. But I "comprehend" it. As an older player (early 50s) this kind of last minute announcement reminds me of when SOE announced the NGE within days of launching the ToOW expansion. Which was a paid expansion and had some rewards that were made completely irrelevant and unusable by the change. Not saying this is the same thing by any means, but to announce this so close, when you not only delayed the release by a month but had a bunch of players testing on PTS with the assumption that these would remain is just wrong. At the very least, as others have pointed out, this means the information on PTS is flawed since it was based on builds no longer possible. We should have at least had the knowledge and ability to be able to test the system the way it was going to be released. My only consolation in all of this is that I had taken a long break from SWTOR (just after the Alderaan SH was released) and just came back recently. I have just goofed around mostly, and only since I came back achieved Legendary by finished all the class stories. So basically I haven't played with this style of gearing yet and the only thing that will really affect me is the changes to armor with no mods. But I definitely feel for those who have invested a lot of time and credits gearing up.
  4. Ah! Well, I just came back recently from a long break, so in my mind whatever was in the main slot was the daily sale. Didn't think to check that. Still disappointing it hasn't changed.
  5. Are you talking about the Obi-Wan robes that have been on sale since the weekend? That is pretty annoying. Especially since I just got my sub CCs and would like something to think about spending them on!
  6. Been playing around a bit more and I can say that I am not happy with how quickly I am levelling. I am doing the class story (BH) and most of the side missions and seem to be just ahead of where I should be. (lvl 7 fighting lvl 6 enemies). The issue with this is that I get a dbl xp token, which would rocket me past the content. Already I am just ploughing through the mobs, but there is no real challenge at all. Honestly the levelling needs to be scaled back so that using a dbl xp token feels like it is the right thing to do, and an actual bonus, instead of basically worthless because of how fast I am levelling. I know it has been like this for a while, but maybe with all the changes this is the time to go ahead and modify it. I ran one character through, all side quests I could find, no XP boost, and ended up at lvl by the time I was done with Hutta and ready to leave. However by then I was already level 11. That's without doing the "world boss" or killing any mobs except what was necessary to move through the areas and progress my missions. No grinding whatsoever. Now that isn't bad in itself, but if I had used that dbl XP token, it would have been wasted. There are 3 Heroic Missions, but I have zero incentive to try them since 1) nothing encourages me to do that except the random triangle over the mission terminal on my way off planet and 2) I am already over level for everything, so I could actually do the Heroics on my own, instead of trying to group with anyone. EDIT: Just completed all 3 Heriocs on this character. Ended up at lvl 12 and certainly would have been well over 13 and possibly 14 if I had bothered to do the bonus objectives. I am also counting the couple of side quests (like the one near the social vendor) that I did not bother doing. All of my skills are automatically given to me with the exception of speeder piloting? Why do I have to visit the trainer for that one skill? That doesn't make any sense at all. Then I get a side quest to visit the mod station. It gives me an enhancement but I have nothing to mod with it? At least I used to get a piece of equipment I could mod. Is this being removed or modified somehow? And why is the Chat window always on top? If I open my inventory or my character sheet, I shouldn't have to move it around the screen to be able to click the tabs because the Chat window is in my way. And even if I move the chat window, it still overlaps whatever else I open up. There is no option to toggle this either. I will keep playing and have created a new character (same as the first BH story - Operative skill) that I will do ONLY the class story mission on (no side quests) to see where I end up, but you are specifically asking about the levelling experience and I feel it is unbalanced. Lower the XP gain so that if I use a boost it feels "worth it" and I am encouraged to run side quests and Heroics without feeling like I will end up "outlevelling" the rest of the content. EDIT: So this 2nd character I did ONLY the Class Story missions, no side quests and no unnecessary xp gains. I also did not try to complete bonus objectives, only those that completed naturally in the course of the mission (did not kill the 3 bounties when going to Fa'athra's Palace, just went straight to the lab only killing what was necessary to get through on the way). I ended up at just over lvl 9 when I finished and was given the mission to go to the fleet. The levelling felt great because my character was actually in danger a few times and I had to use a medpac (didn't use any on the first character) and I was either at or just below the level of most of the mobs I was up against. It is a shame that the only way to actually feel like it was a challenge is to completely ignore most of the content. I am also going to echo other comments in this thread and others, that by the time I have hit lvl 12 on my first character, I still only have a handful of abilities, 4 of those I started with. This makes it much less interesting than gaining a few new abilities every few levels. Most games I will play through the introductory area and expect that the pacing is sped up (gain levels faster, gain abilities faster) but if I were a new player unfamiliar with SWTOR, I would probably quit after the starter planet because it doesn't really feel like I am going anywhere other than basic attacks.
  7. So a returning player here (haven't played in nearly a year or so) and since I was going to have to roll a new character anyway to try and relearn abilities and stuff decided to do so on PTS (since there is testing going on anyway). Bounty Hunter Class story with an Operative. Why am I given the chance to choose a second class basically from the get-go when I have no idea what things do or how to switch classes? When I look at the Character screen and click on Class it tells me I am on a mission to choose a second class. But why do I have this mission so early? The majority of the gear I am getting as rewards shows a blank icon with a green up arrow. I know that is a visual bug, but it should show something. In the Missions Tutorial screen, the second panel defines the different types of missions and at the bottom states "Any Mission Can Be Repeatable". As a new player, this would make me think that I can repeat Story Missions as well. I get that it is technically correct with the "Can" part, but should be clearer. I know this has been around awhile but it seems this would be a great opportunity to clear it up. Get sent to Zinny to train in skills, but no abilities available to train because they were autotrained. I tested this also with a Powertech BH to see if using the right class for the story made a difference, but it does not. Looking through other threads this seems to be an issue for a while now. Very confusing if I am a new player. Also, picked up some purple loot that the tooltip said I needed to turn in to a guy on Nar Shaddaa. Only issue was that it wasn't in my main inventory when I checked. Apparently this is a new type of currency tied to my Legacy. Which is fine. However a new player would not necessarily know to check the different tabs on their inventory, since nothing made that clear. The tutorial button jumps from the bottom of my screen to the top, depending on the tutorial. However not having a consistent place to look for it is confusing. Also, it would be nice if it would let me see all of the new tutorials available while I am in the screen, instead of having to close it only to see the ? still bouncing and have to reopen that tab to read the new tutorial stuff. This is especially annoying when you first start out. That's basically just playing through level 5, so I will update as I get further. But going in with the mindset of a new player and waiting to be told how to do things instead of just using my experience, there is a lot to be fixed.
  8. Only issue with Trandoshans is then people would be griping that their gloves and boots "didn't show up". Used to have the same complaints in SWG. However I would love a trandoshan. Or a rodian. Even a sullustan would be nice! But what I really want is an Ithorian.
  9. Personally I like the Killik Cave and being able to "control the population" there. However as others have mentioned the inability to mount up is pretty annoying. Also, didn't see any taxi anywhere. Kind of confusing that it looks multistory from the outside but the only "elevator" takes you to the mountain retreat, instead of to a second floor or basement. I like the ruins, but it would be nice if you could get up to the top of them, like you can in Yavin. Not sure that I like being able to decorate at the bottom of the waterfall, but not being able to travel there. Also, we will definitely need some form of Thranta mount now.
  10. Just unsub and quit playing for a bit. I was running a flashpoint the other day with a guy who said he had quit over similar frustration and gave everything away. Said he had recently returned because of recent updates and changes and now kicks himself that he gave everything away instead of just storing it. Do what you want, but everyone I know that does this and returns ends up regretting it.
  11. That's great! Any chance while they are adding that, the person could change the dates on some of the events from May and August to, say, the actual dates? It makes it look like a cheap copy/paste where the patch notes weren't proofread and where you guys don't really care. Which I am sure isn't the case! Looking forward to Life Day and the Anniversary! Bronze Anniversary!! Also, I think it's funny that the Coruscant/DK strongholds will be actually raised 1 credit each in honor of the anniversary, since they are 7 credits right now. Very "Imperial"!
  12. I am a fairly casual player, will sub for a few months at a time and then disappear for awhile. Last time I was subbed was about a year ago, right after the Revan expansion. Had one max level character, a BH. and a few in the 30s, 40s. I came back recently for the May the 4th event, just to check out the general state of the game. Was very surprised by the changes (honestly had quit following the "news" and didn't know anything about KotFE). All my companion gear was in my mailbox and I seemed lost. So I started over on a different server to get the feel of things again. The first thing I noticed was the bump in XP earned. I realized I could level comfortably with only doing the class story missions, no side stuff. That was great! It allowed me to focus on the actual class story and I was impressed. So I got that toon to around 25 and started a few more (just for variety and to "claim" a few names I usually use on that server). I ran a BH and decided to do EVERY mission on the planet, to see how that went. I was 17 before leaving Hutta. What struck me with that I wasn't too high for the content to be enjoyable. Since my level scaled down, I could enjoy the experience and still have it be somewhat of a challenge. That was a great decision, imho. I just started a new BH for the event, and plan on running the other toons as well. I know that some people feel that this is "cheating" older players, but really since you can gear up the new toons from your existing stash, and you get all the Legacy bonuses you built up over time applied to your toon, it really isn't as bad as starting completely fresh. If you are already running most of these flashpoints and heroics anyway, then it won't be a challenge for you to get those accomplishments done. I understand that for them the best way to gauge the LvD was with the decisions, and if your toon is max that really limits the number of decisions you have available to you. People would be complaining that players starting a new character had an unfair advantage. So they "levelled" the playing field in a way. Now they did make a mistake by raising the hypercrate prices and dropping the heroic payouts at the same time, but since you will have a lot of players running the heroics for the LvD achievements, that kind of makes sense. Unfortunately that should have been either lowered earlier (like a few weeks ago) or communicated better. I think this will give the game a needed shot in the arm. And while I know a lot of people are upset, there are a lot of casual or newer players who will be filling the void and enjoying themselves.
  13. I took a break for a little over a year (after Revan) and just came back. Among all the changes, I have to say this is one that I agreed with. From a purely immersion perspective, it has bothered me in every mmo I played that I could "out level" an area. Why are the Saavrips less deadly to me than a womprat? Why is an imperial trooper on Tatooine less of a threat than one on Hoth? While I understood the need to make each area cater to your current level, it made no sense when I revisited that level that I was that much more powerful than everything. I like the fact that an imperial trooper is still a threat or that various creatures from the starter planets could still pose some danger. The fact that I have new skills and abilities that make them easier to deal with is something you can handwave as having grown in your power and skill. But simply being able to mow down Flesh Eaters simply because your lvl 40 and they're lvl 10, didn't make much sense to me. As far as the argument about farming, it seems that since they tied the rewards to your level, it kind of levelled out. Sure you can't just go sit in one area farming low level mobs, but that isn't really playing the game either, is it? Still haven't really tried KotFE yet, (only played to chapter 3 on the free 60 toon) and while the story is good it didn't have the same feel as the rest of the game. Trying to level some toons to try it out endgame to see if it feels any different. I do have an issue with the fact that you only have to run the class mission to level, though. While it is a nice feature if you have already cleared a class story, or a class from the same starter planet, you have to choose between either missing a lot of story by skipping the planet quests and side missions, or outlevelling everything on the way. Although with level sync that is not as much of an issue.
  14. I have always liked Wedge. Great character and backstory and love his attitude towards things. My fav though has to be Coran Horn. It was fun to see his progression from a Corsec officer to a Rogue and then finding out his affinity for the Force. Plus the fact that he is flawed. Sure he can use the Force, just not completely. And Whistler has to be one of the best astromech droids in the series (sorry R2). I would love to see him represented in the new trilogy, but doubt that will happen.
  15. I bet is was one of those awesome personal sub rides too! Get to see fish n rocks n sand n stuff. Man, that must have been a tough decision. But I think we both know you made the right one..
