  1. It won't be bringing us back. After playing Lotro , GW1 ,and now GW2, swtors model of f2p is more of a trial than anything. The issue I had when we quit the game and the issue I still have, the content updates just are not fast enough and the content that is there, is for people who enjoy alt'ing which is not enough to justify a sub fee for myself. (one toon kinda person) I have played Lotro since day one and when it went F2P, I converted over, buying the expansions when they come out and haven't ever felt restricted from anything. Guildwars is a different beast because it's store is always loaded down with cosmetics and fun factors but again, never restricted me from content. If I have to buy tickets to war zones, ops, and to equip gear as well as sub to access a larger bank account, well clearly the other games are more of what I am looking for.
  2. Knee jerk reaction, as I said in another thread.. Nobody I know quit this game because they didn't want to pay the 15$ a month. They quit because the model of the game was to similar to wow, because Bioware doesn't push out what they deem real content fast enough, or because they just didn't like the setting and era of the game. It was mostly the first 2. This isn't rocket science. The f2p model will only help with this game IF they push out content faster and fix what many feel are broken parts in the game. Space, world pvp, and cosmetics would fall into that category. Like someone else has already said, they are giving 1-50 for free, so people who just want to see the stories can do so now without paying now. Like others have said, Bioware either didn't listen to the right beta testers to fix issues, or they listened to the bioware fans and not MMO fans with many of the areas in this game. This is all my opinion, but I honestly don't think the f2p model will do for this game what that model has done for others. In the end, I cancelled my subscription because I am not an alter, so there isn't enough content for me. F2P will not solve the problem at hand which is money and subscriber retention.

  4. This. It is also a terrible model to follow.
  5. /Thread. In all honesty, bioware should have added a switch to allow people the ability to que for groups who are watching vs not watching cut scenes. Then when you can't get the group for the selection you want, you can switch over or toggle both.
  6. Pretty much this. I have played many MMOs, and of course being a star wars fan I played SWG. WoW never really got it right for me. There was a set path for everyone and you went down it. I think that is why Bioware fans love this game. It feels very much like a SP RPG with chat components. As an MMO fan, I want to see more innovation since there are games like Eve, Salem, and Guild Wars 2 pushing the market forward. As a star wars fan I shook my head at people saying this game would flounder because of the time era. Now I realize, they where right. People connect with the movies, and we are standing around in a scifi universe for the most part no one can relate to. At my core I will be a MMO first and SW fan second. I am not a bioware fan. Just here because they shut down SWG.
  7. What I would want, Advanced Class Respec Dual-Spec 16 slots per server (this could go away and I wouldn't care or notice) In that order. 16 slots on a server is just a waste of space imo since I play and only identify with one character. In reality, with the crowd that's controlling the direction of this game? Dual-Spec 16 slots per server Advanced Class Respec (this will probably never happen unless there is a major game over haul to try and catch up with games now a days trying to get rid of the silly trinity nonsense.)
  8. Honestly, I think the community team is being dealt a poor hand internally. They have nothing to talk about or to discuss because the development team moves at a snails pace. I do believe they compile feed back from the forums and present it to others. I also think they are at a transitioning point internally trying to figure out where to take the game and what to do after the last few rough months. The community team has to sit on their hands until they figure this all out. Both lotro and AoC went through the exact same thing. /shrug If anything, turn this thread into a constructive discussion on what the community would like to talk about with those guys and gals. Then they might come out and play if they aren't being screamed at. It also can't be all gimme gimme stuff from everyone. /2cents
  9. This would be my 2 cents but after playing months, after months of void star and then to log in and have a fence, screwing everything up, it has crushed what fun void star once was. For our group it was one of the best but after 1.3 with that new fence it ranks up there wither terribad huttball from a casual pvp perspective.
  10. I want to share my thanks as well for you taking the time to reply to this thread, it is much appreciated. I am concerned that the focus on character customization seems scattered. Customizing a pet should be very low priority compared to better customization for my playable character. Again, thanks for the reply!
  11. This right here covers it all and answers the question. After a couple months of this game being live they should have started to introduce more sandbox elements in an effort to keep people busy while they worked on new ops and FPs. Especially knowing a percentage of their player base came from a sandbox game, and had people asking for similar elements in beta. (Before the haters show up, I am not saying convert the game or turn it into SWG2.0, get that out of your head. I am saying it needs elements, clearly.) Ignoring that feedback and continuing to work with their heads down at a snails pace has contributed to the severity of these issues they are facing.
  12. No no your'e not, you are actually trying to have a civil discussion on the matter. Rewards aren't in the store. If you want that awesome top tier gear, you have to run dungeons or raid for it. You cannot buy it. Things that are in the store are fluff, a goofy looking cloak or helm that you can purchase but has no bearing on game play. You can find items just like it in the world, but maybe they are a shade of color different. There really is a right way and wrong way to do the F2P model. I will concede on that. I do believe turbine got it right with DDO and Lotro.
  13. /facepalm I don't even know how to address such flagrant ignorance. Let me put it this way, I have played lotro ever since it went f2p and played it even before that. I am not a lifer, so if I want something from the store I would have to put some money in to get it. What have I bought from the store? 1 expansion pack. 1 zone to quest in, in the last 2 years I have been playing. That's a total of 45$ in 2 years. No one is "ahead" of me for spending more, and I am at no disadvantage. The game is loads of fun, and honestly, it's what I play while waiting for content to be added to this game which I'm shelling out 15$ for a month and seeing nothing in return. But if you want to continue to spew nonsense, nobody has stopped you in that past...
  14. lolwut? If you want to try this again, this would be more reflective of the two situations. F2P is like buying à la carte. Biowares current subscription model is, pay for your dinner up front and hope the food comes. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not. Right now, I wouldn't mind the F2P model because in 7 months, I haven't really got my moneys worth on the content side of things.
